Read the two passages about school uniforms. Passage 1 School uniforms could alter students’ attitudes toward their education. If students wear the same clothing each day, they will not have to think about what to wear on a daily basis. In addition, having a uniform could boost students’ confidence and reduce envy or embarrassment. Conforming to one uniform might also help students fit in more easily. Passage 2 School uniforms have no place in education, especially since we are trying to instill the principles of individuality and diversity in our children. School uniforms destroy students’ abilities to be themselves. I have seen schools where uniforms are required; the students’ faces tell the whole story. By enforcing uniforms in school, we are clearly not giving students a choice in what they wear. But when we take away choice, more than just choice is lost. A book critic plans to write an article evaluating the use of color imagery in two works: The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Which organizational structure best matches the author’s purpose? A list , B compare and contrast , C spatial order, D Process order
The correct answer is B. Compare and contrast
Explanation:
The compare and contrast organizational structure is ideal for works that focus on analyzing the differences or common points of two subjects such as two campaigns, books, animals, etc. Indeed, this organizational structure allows author to better organize ideas either by describing the feature of subject A and then Subject B or by comparing specific qualities of both subjects at the same time.
In this context, for comparing the use of color imagery in two literary works the compare and contrast structure is the best as the writer wants to focus on differences and similarities, which is exactly the focus of this organizational structure.

Answer:
Dogs are the best type of pet. Most dogs are easy to take care of, they are fun to be around, and they are always happy to see you.
Explanation:
The best type of revision to the sentence(s) above is the aforementioned one.
The un-revised version is "Dogs are the best types of pet most dogs are easy to take care off their fun to be around and their always happy too see you."
We can see here that this was not properly punctuated which makes reading it erratic, and understanding it quite difficult.
To properly revise it, the use of the punctuation comma and periods(full stop) were necessary. Also the capitalization of the first letter after the full stop was required.

Select the correct answer. Which of the following does Roosevelt advocate in the passage? A. prohibiting the passing of labor bills B. prohibiting child labor in the District of Columbia C. prohibiting people from employing laborers D. prohibiting compensation to injured laborers Message Regarding Labor Legislation (March 25, 1908) by Theodore Roosevelt I call your attention to certain measures as to which I think there should be action by the Congress before the close of the present session. There is ample time for their consideration. As regards most if not all of the matters, bills have been introduced into one or the other of the two Houses, and it is not too much to hope that action will be taken one way or the other on these bills at the present session. In my message at the opening of the present session, and, indeed, in various messages to previous Congresses, I have repeatedly suggested action on most of these measures. Child labor should be prohibited throughout the Nation. At least a model child-labor bill should be passed for the District of Columbia. It is unfortunate that in the one place solely dependent upon Congress for its legislation there should be no law whatever to protect children by forbidding or regulating their labor. I renew my recommendation for the immediate reenactment of an employers' liability law, drawn to conform to the recent decision of the Supreme Court. Within the limits indicated by the court, the law should be made through and comprehensive, and the protection it affords should embrace every class of employee to which the power of the Congress can extend. In addition to a liability law protecting the employees of common carriers, the Government should show its good faith by enacting a further law giving compensation to its own employees for injury or death incurred1 in its service. It is a reproach to us as a Nation that in both Federal and State legislation we have afforded less protection to public and private employees than any other industrial country of the world. I also urge that action be taken along the line of the recommendations I have already made concerning injunctions2 in labor disputes. No temporary restraining order should be issued by any court without notice; and the petition for a permanent injunction upon which such temporary restraining order has been issued should be heard by the court issuing the same within a reasonable time—say, not to exceed a week or thereabouts from the date when the order was issued.
Answer:
Explanation:
Prohibiting child labor in the District of Columbia
Roosevelt advocated prohibiting child labor in the District of Columbia in the passage.
What do you mean by Child labor? The term "child labor" is frequently used to describe work that is detrimental to a child's physical and mental development, robs them of their youth, and violates their potential and dignity.
During the final quarter of the 19th century, as progressive child labor reformers gained popularity, state-level campaigns to criminalize the employment of young children grew. Reforms at the state level proved difficult to implement. Many states, especially in the South, opposed the initiative.
Opponents of child labor laws frequently denied the issue existed and actively praised the benefits of having kids in the workforce. By doing this, the state's attempt to impose uniform laws across the nation failed. By the early 1900s, many reformers had come to the conclusion that a federal statute could be the best course of action due to the failures at the state level. But such a vision was challenging due to the Constitution's limitations on the federal government's authority.
Therefore, Option (b) is correct.

Answer:
personification

Which detail from the text best supports the inference that farm animals were very valuable in Elizabethan England
This question is missing the excerpt. I've found it online. It is as follows:
Read the excerpt from The Time Traveler's Guide to Elizabethan England.
If you are hungry, you might feel inclined to turn to poaching. But be careful: this is risky. Taking livestock is theft, and theft is a felony which carries the death sentence. Killing wild animals that live on another man's land is also against the law; even taking a single fish from a river can result in a fine of a shilling or more. It is unlikely that you will be hanged for taking a wild animal such as a rabbit; but, even so, you will get a fine amounting to three times the value of the animal as well as three months in prison, and you will have to enter into a bond to guarantee your good behavior in the future; a second offense will be treated more harshly. If a gamekeeper attacks you and you defend yourself, you can be charged with assault. You may find yourself on the gallows if you injure him.
Answer:
The detail from the text that best supports the inference that farm animals were very valuable in Elizabethan England is:
Taking livestock is theft, and theft is a felony which carries the death sentence.
Explanation:
Animals are still valuable, and if you try to steal someone's animal today and get caught, there will certainly be consequences. However, you will definitely not be sentenced to death for that.
In Elizabethan England, animals were just so valuable that people could lose their lives for trying to steal them. Think about it. In the US, for instance, not all states have the death penalty. Those that do have quite a high standard to judge someone so harshly. To get the death penalty, you will have need to have done someone horrific, such as taking the life of another human being. In Elizabethan England, you could get it for animal theft which, when we make the comparison to today's standards, shows how precious animals were.
Answer: A. The detail from the text that best supports the inference that farm animals were very valuable in Elizabethan England is:
Taking livestock is theft, and theft is a felony which carries the death sentence.

For me I wish someone had taught me that getting along with people well is actually far more important than being superb at your job. I saw it 1000 times that the easier-going person got promoted and the more determined workaholic who really knew their stuff were passed over. I never learned how to small talk.
I was told several times that college is the most important time of a person’s life and that the relationships made then are crucially important down the line. I spent far too much time becoming an outstanding student/MD and far too little time complimenting the nurses and administrators, etc., always willing to linger for small talk even if patients were waiting on me. It took a long time for me to realize that no one cared how expert I was as long as I completed the minimum necessary work, and the patients’ outcomes were of scarce importance to them.
Now with internet access it’s much easier to maintain relationships, although the substance seems much shallower than a handwritten snail mail letter from generations ago when literacy was really valued and letters were creative.
I’ve never spent time arguing since it always seemed pointless to me. I was right. I think of the thousands of arguments I've witnessed over the years and the nonsense I put up with with so many combative personalities. If only I knew then that people cannot communicate properly when arguing so it’s a complete waste of time for everyone. I decided many years ago to never sit through such nonsense and simply say “let’s table this until everyone is calm” and then I exit.
