Employment was required of all freedmen; violators faced vagrancy charges.

Freedmen could not assemble without the presence of a white person.

Freedmen were assumed to be agricultural workers and their duties and hours were tightly regulated.

Freedmen were not to be taught to read or write.

   Public facilities were segregated.

Violators of these laws were subject to being whipped or branded.

Some Black Codes in Louisiana:

Any negro found drunk, within the said parish shall pay a fine of five dollars, or in default thereof work five days on the public road, or suffer corporeal punishment as hereinafter provided.

No negro who is not in the military service shall be allowed to carry fire-arms, or any kind of weapons, within the parish, without the special written permission of his employers, approved and indorsed by the nearest and most convenient chief of patrol.

No negro shall be permitted to preach, exhort, or otherwise declaim to congregations of colored people, without a special permission in writing from the president of the police jury.

Every negro is required to be in the regular service of some white person, or former owner, who shall be held responsible for the conduct of said negro. But said employer or former owner may permit said negro to hire his own time by special permission in writing, which permission shall not extend over seven days at any one time.

No negro shall be permitted to rent or keep a house within said parish. Any negro violating this provision shall be immediately ejected and compelled to find an employer; and any person who shall rent, or give the use of any house to any negro, in violation of this section, shall pay a fine of five dollars for each offence.

Some Black Codes in Mississippi:

All contracts for labor made with freedmen, free negroes, and mulattoes for a longer period than one month shall be in writing, and in duplicate, attested and read to said freedman, free negro, or mulatto by a beat, city or county officer, or two disinterested white persons of the county in which the labor is to be performed, of which each party shall have one; and said contracts shall be taken and held as entire contracts, and if the laborer shall quit the service of the employer before the expiration of his term of service, without good cause, he shall forfeit his wages for that year up to the time of quitting.

All freedmen, free negroes, or mulattoes who do now and have herebefore lived and cohabited together as husband and wife shall be taken and held in law as legally married, and the issue shall be taken and held as legitimate for all purposes; that it shall not be lawful for any freedman, free negro, or mulatto to intermarry with any white person; nor for any white person to intermarry with any freedman, free negro, or mulatto; and any person who shall so intermarry, shall be deemed guilty of felony, and on conviction thereof shall be confined in the State penitentiary for life; and those shall be deemed freedmen, free negroes, and mulattoes who are of pure negro blood, and those descended from a negro to the third generation, inclusive, though one ancestor in each generation may have been a white person.

All freedmen, free negroes and mulattoes in this State, over the age of eighteen years, found on the second Monday in January, 1866, or thereafter, with no lawful employment or business, or found unlawfully assembling themselves together, either in the day or night time, and all white persons so assembling themselves with freedmen, free negroes or mulattoes, or usually associating with freedmen, free negroes or mulattoes, on terms of equality, or living in adultery or fornication with a freed woman, free negro or mulatto, shall be deemed vagrants, and on conviction thereof shall be fined in a sum not exceeding, in the case of a freedman, free negro or mulatto, fifty dollars, and a white man two hundred dollars, and imprisoned at the discretion of the court, the free negro not exceeding ten days, and the white man not exceeding six months.

If any freedman, free negro, or mulatto, convicted of any of the misdemeanors provided against in this act, shall fail or refuse for the space of five days, after conviction, to pay the fine and costs imposed, such person shall be hired out by the sheriff or other officer, at public outcry, to any white person who will pay said fine and all costs, and take said convict for the shortest time.

Explain how the formation of the nation-state was both the triumph and tragedy of the post-colonial era

Answers

Answer:

The definition of something like a nation-state is famously elusive. Among the most prominent historians of nation-states as well as democracy, Anthony Smith, concluded that what a country is a nation-state even so that when a specific ethnic and religious group resides within its borders, and the county's borders are congruent with the ethnic as well as cultural populace's borders.

The expression "nation-state" means that the two are related in the sense that a state has elected to follow and support a particular cultural community. The federal state, metropolis, republic, confederacy, as well as other state structures in which it can intersect can be correlated and contrasting with the notion of a nation-state. The most important difference is the association of a group of individuals with a particular culture.

what asteroid is the most speed and powerful impact in the world

Answers

Answer:

asteroid 2001 FO32

Explanation:

The asteroid 2001 FO32 is hurtling through space at an unusually fast speed for a space rock, about 77,000 mph (124,0000 kph), and will pass by Earth at a safe range of 1.25 million miles (2 million kilometers), according to NASA. It won't come this close to Earth again until 2052.

Answer:

no

Explanation:

No. An impact powerful enough to alter Earth's rotation speed would have to be at least about half the diameter of the moon. And the impact would have to occur near along the Earth's equator. Or else the impact would only knock the Earth on its axis, causing the Earth to tilt at an angle of less than or greater than 23 degrees - the current angle of its axis. And even so, the force of such an impact at would only slightly, alter the rate of the Earth's rotation. But due to the g-force of the Earth's rotating axis, and since the Earth rotates west to east, such an impact at an eastern direction would have a greater affect than an impact at a western angle would have on the Earth's rotation speed.

Discuss global population growth since World War II, and compare the impact of population growth in developing and industrialized nations since World War II.

Answers

Answer:

Population growth after World War II exploded all over the world, both in industrialized nations where a phenomenon known as baby boom took place, and in the developing world as well.

Explanation:

Population growth in the world was particularly high in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s, and from then on, it began to taper off. The world population actually doubled between 1950, with only 2.5 billion, and 1987 with 5 billion.

In the developing world, population growth continued to be high throughout the twentieth century, due to higher birth rates. This is especially true of Africa, the continent where population grew the most after World War II.

In industrialized nations though, the baby boom ended in the late 1960s, and ever since, population growth has been falling steadily, to the point that several of these countries have negative natural growth rates and if not for immigration, their populations would be declining (countries such as Germany, Italy and Spain are an example).

Answers

Explanation:

hope this helps :)

The application of mercantilist principles to regulate trade with colonies is the factor contributed to Europe’s Commercial Revolution in the sixteenth century. Hence, option B is correct.

What is Europe’s Commercial Revolution?

The Commercial Revolution, which started in the 11th century and continued until the Industrial Revolution replaced it in the middle of the 18th, was the development of a trade-based economy in Europe. Europeans first rediscovered spices, silks, and other goods that were uncommon in Europe during the Crusades.

The "Commercial Revolution" refers to the events that occurred between 1450 and 1800. These occasions signaled the change from a largely sluggish economy in medieval Europe to a more quickly developing and dynamic system.

The late Middle Ages saw a significant rise in trade throughout Europe, which is known as the "commercial revolution." It drew inspiration from the exploration journeys made to Africa, Asia, and the New World by England, Spain, and other countries.

Thus, option B is correct.

If a neighbor accidentally damages your property but refuses to pay for fixing the damage, you would have the right to
A. File a criminal suit
B. File a civil suit
C. Be out of luck since the damage was accidental
D. Do an equal amount of damage to his property

Answers

Answer:

B

Explanation:

Answer:

B. File a civil suit.

Explanation:

The answer couldn't be A because criminal suits are usually ordered by the government/law. C and D are pretty much self explanatory.. so that leaves B.

Also, it would be more sensible to file a civil suit and here's why:

Civil suits are usually ordered when a person wants to be compensated (usually in the form of money; so maybe for hospital bills, car insurance payment, and etc.) when they are harmed or property of theirs is harmed (like a car accident or even the situation in this question). And since a criminal suit isnt necessarily "needed" in a situation like this, a civil suit would be the best way to go.
