Expand the outline you wrote in Lesson 1 About the American Dream into an
argumentative research essay. As in most essays, you'll need to include an
introduction, body, and conclusion. You'll also need to support your claim with
evidence.
Your evidence will come from sources that you researched in Lesson 1, although you
should feel free to seek out new sources if you need them. Take special care to
integrate your sources correctly whether you're quoting them or paraphrasing them
- so that you avoid plagiarism. You want to make it obvious which words and ideas
are your own and which come from sources. In-text citations help you make this
distinction.
The expression "American dream" portrays the true national ethos, that is, it is the expression that characterizes US society and shows the foundations that created the country and made it what it is.
The American dream refers to the potential for freedom and prosperity that the United States presented shortly after the separatist movements that allowed the country's independence. This is because he preaches that in the country each family, through hard work, could keep its profits for itself, enriching the family and guaranteeing a better quality of life. That's because America was a land of opportunity and its citizens were not submissive to any royal figure or the like.
This attracted countless immigrants who saw the country as a chance to improve their lives and provide a better future for their descendants.
All this immigration brought an unparalleled cultural wealth to the country, in addition to the economic contribution that the work of immigrants, together with the work of the Americans themselves, provided to the country. This created the national identity that can be found in this territory and makes the country what we know.
The American dream still exists today and is a confirmation of the nation's success, its influence and its position as a strong and unparalleled power.
what did you experience when visiting old age home
Answer:
As I walked through the creaking doors, the blast of warmth had hit my face, it was amazing! Visit my Grandmas during Winter was always a treat! I had always loved the sweet, sugary smell of her cookie jar and the fresh, soft smell of my grandads homemade bread... But the thing I loved the most about my Grandparents is their garden! Opening the door would be like entering a rainforest of COLOUR! To the right of me were beautiful bluebells and to the right were fabulous fox-glove! They had come in many different colours and sizes... I love my Grandparents house!
There was never a dull moment!

women perform better than men when they are put in leadership positions. write to against the motion
Topic: Men are better leaders than women
It has been an argument over the years, men feeling superior to their fellow humans women, classifying them as objects and disrespecting their rights. Today I have gathered a few points and I hope to enlighten you or change your point of view, guiding you and explaining to you why men are better leaders than women, not disrespecting women's rights. Follow me in this wonderful journey and let me guide you, with theories and proof of this motion.
Firstly, to start with, women are very talented and skilled, from multitasking and taking care of the children whilst pregnant, going through menstrual cycles and the pain, men in other words have it easier and are free from pain and labour, they are only classified as stronger because of they don't go through the same situations women go through, in fact if a woman tries to defend this by saying "I mustn't get pregnant" she still has to go through three days or even a week of menstrual pain, each month, even having to diet because of the pain. As for men, each month of the year is a blessing, they can be called natural born leaders because of their "strength" and not having to go through any pain of that sort.
Contrary to my first point and not any offence to women by this one, I would like to state an obvious fact that women can be very 'complicated' but their complication only comes because they are considerate and think of others needs before theirs, but men on the other hand are strong willed and do not hesitate to state the problem in a market, if a complicated woman took a place as a leader, it would take time before the issue is noticed even if she noticed right away before the man, even if a man is less observant, immediately he notices the fault in an area he takes no time in handling the issue effectively and quickly.
According to scientific research, it shows that men mature slower than women, but it is learnt later on that maturity doesn't come in age, but in ability to handle any situation faster, and men have being thought from a young age to be less emotional than women although this myth is not to be taught, our generation is already used to this kind of bad behaviour and men are thought to bottle up their feelings making them grow and realise that they should be independent and this is also a necessary skill on leadership of course as they grow old they can stop hiding their feelings, men are also noticeably more competitive and a person with a competitive spirit knows how to lead a business and cannot stand the fact that they are below average. Men are also "alpha" to women and are the protectors of my family.
In conclusion men aren't as natural born leaders as women but with all their advantages they have proven to be good leaders themselves

Sugar was the connection, the tie, between slavery and freedom. In order to create sugar, Europeans and colonists in the Americas destroyed Africans, turned them into objects. Just at that very same moment, Europeans—at home and across the Atlantic—decided that they could no longer stand being objects themselves. They each needed to vote, to speak out, to challenge the rules of crowned kings and royal princes. How could that be? Why did people keep speaking of equality while profiting from slaves? In fact, the global hunger for slave-grown sugar led directly to the end of slavery. Following the strand of sugar and slavery leads directly into the tumult of the Age of Revolutions. For in North America, then England, France, Haiti, and once again North America, the Age of Sugar brought about the great, final clash between freedom and slavery. Based on this excerpt, the authors are most likely to attempt to answer which question? How did colonists challenge the rules of crowned kings? How did the Age of Sugar differ from the Age of Revolutions? When did Europeans decide to speak about equality? Why did some Europeans decide they wanted to speak out about slavery?
Answer: The authors are most likely to attempt to answer the question: How did the Age of Sugar differ from the Age of Revolutions?
Explanation: Based on the last sentence in the excerpt, the authors are setting up a discussion of Age of Sugar. They will have to explain how it differed from the Age of Revolutions.
They are likely to also explain what happened during the Age of Sugar that caused Europeans to speak out about equality and slavery, but within the context of what was going on in the different Ages.

In "An Indian Father's Plea" what does Medicine Grizzlybear Lake ask the teacher to do for wind-wolf?
Answer:
C. Give him a second chance and treat him more fairly .
Explanation:
The letter "An Indian Father's Plea" is a plea letter written by Medicine Grizzlybear Lake to his son's teacher who has labeled him "a slow learner". The son, Wind-Wolf is a native Indian who had started school in a western American schooling system and seemed 'slow' as compared to the other students.
But according to the father, he had been through more education than his classmates. Just because he is an Indian doesn't mean he doesn't know the way of the world or even the American western system. As compared to his traditional way of learning, the western education system may be hard but that is no reason to call a child "a slow learner". So, Robert Lake (Medicine Grizzlybear) wrote this letter as a plea to ask the teacher to give his son Wind-Wolf a second chance and treat him more fairly.

Select the correct answer. Which of the following does the author use to support the belief that students should be able to use their phones on the bus? A. statistics of cell phone use on buses B. information about cell phone use on other buses C. quotes from experts on cell phone use D. the experience of a fellow student Dear Principal Havens, (1) Our school bus driver, Mrs. Larson, won't let us use cell phones on the bus, and it isn't fair. (2) Once school is out, we should have the right to talk on our phones if we want. (3) But there are more important reasons why cell phones should be allowed. (4) Lots of kids expect calls from their parents around that time. (5) My friend Alyssa says her dad calls her from work to ask her to pick up stuff at the store for dinner. (6) What if there's a real emergency, and people were trying to get a hold of us? (7) Our families might need us at a moment's notice. (8) We're not a bunch of hoodlums—we're people with responsibilities. (9) In fact, most kids at age 13 are more responsible than we're given credit for by adults. (10) Please talk to Mrs. Larson, and ask her to lift her ban on cell phone use on the bus. Sincerely, Adam Michaels, 8th grade student
Answer:
D. The experience of a fellow student.
Explanation:
In his letter to Principal Havens, Adam Michaels main purpose was to try to make the principal talk to the bus driver Mrs. Larson so that the students may be able to use their cell phones. This is needed because not only is it after-school but they also need to contact their parents about their whereabouts.
Moreover, he also stressed the need for permission to be allowed to use cellphones because most parents, like Alyssa's, need to talk to their children to buy something on the way or let them know if there is an emergency at home, etc. Such scenarios make it necessary to be able to be contacted so that nothing bad may come upon them or they may not miss anything. By giving an example of a friend's experience in his letter, Adam Michaels appeals that cellphones should be allowed to be used on the bus.
Answer:
Experience of a fellow student

1. What aspects of American history would provide important context for an informational article about the first black student to attend a desegregated school in the South?
The massive effort to desegregate public schools across the United States was a major goal of the Civil Rights Movement. Since the 1930s, lawyers from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People had strategized to bring local lawsuits to court, arguing that separate was not equal and that every child, regardless of race, deserved a first-class education. These lawsuits were combined into the landmark Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court case that outlawed segregation in schools in 1954. But the vast majority of segregated schools were not integrated until many years later. Many interviewees of the Civil Rights History Project recount a long, painful struggle that scarred many students, teachers, and parents.
write a letter to dad, telling him that you wish to visit your aunty in Benin and why?
Dear Dad.
Although I am aware of the moment we are living in and that I know it is better to stay away from people, due to their safety, I cannot stop worrying about Aunt Angela's situation in Benin, which makes me wish to visit- and convince her to spend time with us.
We know that Aunt Angela is a person who knows how to take care of herself, but in times of social isolation, I do not think it is smart that she lives alone, both because of her age, because of the needs she may have to go to the market, or buy a product, for example.
For that reason, I am writing this letter, to convince you to allow my visit to her, it would be even better if you were with me, taking due care, of course, since the aunt expressed a desire to see us again.
Kind regards,
Debora.

When a tale is told in the third person, the narrator is not one of the characters and has a different viewpoint. The advantage of telling a story from a third-person point of view is (B) Providing the most comprehensive information about the story's events.
This enables the narrator to give a thorough account of the tale, taking into account a variety of individuals and their motivations, deeds, and relationships.
By switching between various people, settings, and time periods, the third-person narrator may provide the reader a more thorough knowledge of the events and the plot as a whole.
The reader receives a richer understanding of the tale, the motives of various characters, and the overall plot progression by having access to several perspectives.
