The process of discovery and conquest of America was a process in which the European powers sent troops to the territory of the New World with the aim of exploring.

The reason for their exploration was due to the fact that in the first contact with the native communities they discovered that they used metals such as gold and silver, and stones such as emeralds.

On the other hand, once the new world was discovered, there was a race between the powers to expand their domain over all these territories to have more power.

Based on the above, it can be inferred that the most appropriate option to complete the diagram is C. To expand empires.

Why did Reagan address his remarks about the wall specifically to the Soviet General Secretary Gorbachev?

Answers

Answer:

because he wanted change and wanted the burlin wall down

Explanation:

Reagan address his remarks about the wall specifically to the Soviet General Secretary Gorbachev because he wanted change and wanted the Berlin wall down.

What was the Berlin Wall speech?

Ronald Reagan, the president of the United States, gave The Berlin Wall Speech on June 12, 1987, in West Berlin. The most famous line from the speech is from the middle: "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" Reagan demanded that the Berlin Wall, which had ringed West Berlin since 1961, be opened by Mikhail Gorbachev, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

The majority of audience members at the time saw Reagan's speech as a forceful plea to Gorbachev to restart talks on nuclear armament reductions. Additionally, it served as a reminder that the United States wanted to see action taken to reduce Cold War tensions despite the Soviet leader's public declarations of a new partnership with the West.

Therefore, this speech became famous, after the Berlin wall was put down two years later.

Explain the impact of the civil rights movement domestically and the impact of the Cold War on our foreign policies.

Answers

Answer:

See below

Explanation:

In both instances the impact was far reaching. In the 1950's the USA was still a segregated country, particularly in the South where it was institutionalized. The refusal of Rosa Parks to sit in a coloured seat in a bus in Montgomery Alabama is often seen as the spark which  started the civil rights movement.

Protests against such institutionalized racism grew in the 50's and 60's. Such protests were marred by a violent reaction from white supremacists such as the Ku Klux Clan and southern politicians such as Governor George Wallace of Alabama. There was bitter and violent opposition  to any moves towards ending segregation. This included high profile examples such as the assassinations of civil rights leaders, Medgar Evers and Martin Luther King, the bombing of a black church in Birmingham Alabama which killed 4 girls, and the murder of 3 civil rights workers in Mississippi.

Although Kennedy was committed to civil rights legislation it was left to his successor Lyndon Johnson a Texan who understood the south much better, to get it through Congress. He signed the Civil Rights Act in 1964.

However racial equality was not achieved overnight. Continuing economic, social and political discrimination against African-Americans as well as other racial minorities continue to this day in the USA.

At the end of WW2, in 1945, global politics were transformed. The old European empires were in decline and the USA and Soviet Union, although allies during the conflict emerged as not only the dominating superpowers but also as bitter rivals.

This relationship was known as the Cold War as they never directly fought each other. However they opposed each other across the globe in a bitter power struggle.

Initially this was in Europe which quickly became divided into Western Europe, allied to the USA. and Eastern Europe which was taken over by the Soviets who imposed communist governments.

The need to contain communism, from an American perspective was reflected in policies such as containment, the Truman Doctrine and the Domino Theory. The division i Europe included also Germany and even Berlin, divided into East and West.

The Arms Race was another example where both superpowers developed huge arsenals of nuclear weapons as aform of deterrent.

It would be fair to say that in the 40's, 50's and early 60's there was a paranoiac fear of nuclear war which very nearly happened over the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.

Central to this was the need by the USA from their perspective to build alliances such as NATO to contain communism, and where necessary to intervene directly such as in Korea and Vietnam.

When a girl, Anne, arrives, they are surprised. In this excerpt, Anne has just awoken after her first night at Green Gables.Anne could evidently be smart to some purpose for she was down-stairs in ten minutes time, with her clothes neatly on, her hair brushed and braided, her face washed, and a comfortable consciousness pervading her soul that she had fulfilled all Marillas requirements. As a matter of fact, however, she had forgotten to turn back the bedclothes.Im pretty hungry this morning, she announced as she slipped into the chair Marilla placed for her. The world doesnt seem such a howling wilderness as it did last night. Im so glad its a sunshiny morning. But I like rainy mornings real well, too. All sorts of mornings are interesting, dont you think? You dont know whats going to happen through the day, and theres so much scope for imagination. But Im glad its not rainy today because its easier to be cheerful and bear up under affliction on a sunshiny day. I feel that I have a good deal to bear up under. Its all very well to read about sorrows and imagine yourself living through them heroically, but its not so nice when you really come to have them, is it?For pitys sake hold your tongue, said Marilla. You talk entirely too much for a little girl.Thereupon Anne held her tongue so obediently and thoroughly that her continued silence made Marilla rather nervous, as if in the presence of something not exactly natural. Matthew also held his tongue, but this was natural,so that the meal was a very silent one.As it progressed Anne became more and more abstracted, eating mechanically, with her big eyes fixed unswervingly and unseeingly on the sky outside the window. This made Marilla more nervous than ever; she had an uncomfortable feeling that while this odd childs body might be there at the table her spirit was far away in some remote airy cloudland, borne aloft on the wings of imagination. Who would want such a child about the place?Yet Matthew wished to keep her, of all unaccountable things! Marilla felt that he wanted it just as much this morning as he had the night before, and that he would go on wanting it. That was Matthews waytake a whim into his head and cling to it with the most amazing silent persistencya persistency ten times more potent and effectual in its very silence than if he had talked it out. When the meal was ended Anne came out of her reverie and offered to wash the dishes. Can you wash dishes right? asked Marilla distrustfully.Pretty well. Im better at looking after children, though. Ive had so much experience at that. Its such a pity you havent any here for me to look after.I dont feel as if I wanted any more children to look after than Ive got at present. Youre problem enough in all conscience. Whats to be done with you I dont know. Matthew is a most ridiculous man.I think hes lovely, said Anne reproachfully. He is so very sympathetic. He didnt mind how much I talkedhe seemed to like it. I felt that he was a kindred spirit as soon as ever I saw him.Youre both queer enough, if thats what you mean by kindred spirits, said Marilla with a sniff. Yes, you may wash the dishes. Take plenty of hot water, and be sure you dry them well. Ive got enough to attend to this morning for Ill have to drive over to White Sands in the afternoon and see Mrs. Spencer. Youll come with me and well settle whats to be done with you. After youve finished the dishes go up-stairs and make your bed.Anne washed the dishes deftly enough, as Marilla who kept a sharp eye on the process, discerned. Later on she made her bed less successfully, for she had never learned the art of wrestling with a feather tick. But it was done somehow and smoothed down; and then Marilla, to get rid of her, told her she might go out-of-doors and amuse herself until dinner time.In Anne of Green Gables, how does Marilla respond to Anne's silence at breakfast?Marilla grows anxious. She wants to comfort Anne.Marilla feels relieved. She starts to like Anne more. what does the variable x represent? help me plsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. What is the meaning of the bold-faced word in this sentence.Sometimes Harvey felt so detached that he thought he'd become a spectator of his own life.a powerful and unexpected eventan athlete with poor trainingsomeone who watches rather than participatesa use of strategy to win or succeed Find the coordinates of the center of this circle: (x - 9) ^ 2 + (y + 4) ^ 2 = 16 Which expression is equivalent to 6 times the sum of 8 and a number, n?
