Marie has a recipe that calls for 2 cups of flour for 3 dozen cookies. How much flour would she
need to make 60 cookies?
A 4 cups
B 3 3/4 cups
C 3 1/4 cups
D 3 1/3 cups

Answers

So since we know that 2 cups of flour gives us 3 dozens (36 cookies), we can divide both by 2 to see how much 1 cup of flour gives us. That would give us 1.5 dozens (18 cookies) for 1 cup of flour. So 3 cups of flour would make 54 cookies. Then we can divide 1 cup of flour by 3 to see how much 1/3 cup of flour would give us. 1/3 cup makes 6 cookies so 3 1/3 makes 60 cookies.

Endpoint given the Midpoint: * The midpoint of RP is M(2, 4). If one of the end points is R(-1,7), find the coordinates of the other end point.

Answers

Answer:

The coordinates of other point are: (5,1)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given coordinates are:

M(x,y) = (2,4)

R(x_1,x_2) = (-1,7)

We have to find the coordinates of other point (x2,y2)

The formula for mid-point is given by:

[tex]M(x,y) = (\frac{x_1+x_2}{2}, \frac{y_1+y_2}{2})[/tex]

Putting the values we get

[tex](2,4) = (\frac{-1+x_2}{2}, \frac{7+y_2}{2})[/tex]

Putting respective elements equal

[tex]\frac{-1+x_2}{2} = 2\\-1+x_2 = 2*2\\-1+x_2 = 4\\x_2 = 4+1\\x_2 = 5\\And\\\frac{7+y_2}{2} = 4\\7+y_2 = 4*2\\7+y_2 = 8\\y_2 = 8-7\\y_2 = 1[/tex]

Hence,

Draco invests $5000. Approximately how long will it take for the investment to double if the rate is 10% compounded annually?

Answers

Answer:

I'm in 6th grade and I think it is 500

For the investment to double if the rate is 10% compounded annually,

it will take about 7 years and 3 months.

What is compound interest rate?

Compound interest is computed as interest on the principle of an account plus any accrued interest.

Compound interest can be calculated using the following formula:

x = P (1+r/n[tex])^{nt}[/tex]

,where x = compound interest

P = principal (the initial deposit or loan amount)

r = annual interest rate

n = the number of compounding periods per unit of time

t = the number of time units the money is invested or borrowed for.

Given:

Draco invests $5000.

Draco wants his investment to double.

That means, accrued amount = $10000

Interest rate = 10%

First, convert R as a percent to r as a decimal

r = R/100

r = 10/100

r = 0.1 per year,

Then, by using the formula,

t = ln(A/P) / n[ln(1 + r/n)]

t = ln(10,000.00/5,000.00) / ( 1 × [ln(1 + 0.1/1)] )

t = ln(10,000.00/5,000.00) / ( 1 × [ln(1 + 0.1)] )

t = 7.273 years

t = about 7 years 3 months

Therefore, the required time is about 7 years 3 months.

B.

Step-by-step explanation:

AD, the entire segment, is composed of the three segments AB, BC, and CD. In other words:

[tex]AD=AB+BC+CD[/tex]

Since AB=CD, we can substitute:

[tex]AD=CD+BC+CD\\ AD=2CD+BC[/tex]

We know that CD is 9 and BC is 5x. AD is 53. So, substitute:

[tex]53=2(9)+5x[/tex]

Solve for x:

[tex]\begin{aligned} 53&=18+5x \\ 35&=5x \\ 7&=x \end{aligned}[/tex]

The value of x is 7.

Answer:

The maximum amount of apples she could buy is 7

Step-by-step explanation:

3 mangos would be 4.50 dollars. Subtract that from her current amount of money (20 dollars). You would get 15.5 dollars. Then, find how many apples she can buy with 15.5 dollars. You can't buy 8 because that would be above 15.5. So do the next smallest amount, 7.

24. A sports medicine major wanted to conduct an experiment to determine if there is a correlation (2 between the members of the soccer team's leg strength and the time it takes for them to sprint 40 yards. He sets up the following test and records the data: Every day for a week he counts how many times each player can leg press 350 pounds. The following week, he has each player sprint 40 yards every day. The table shows the average number of leg-press repetitions and the average 40-yard dash time (in seconds) for seven randomly selected players. What is the equation of the line of best fit? How many seconds should he expect a player to take to run 40 yards if that player can do 22 leg-press repetitions? Round any values to the nearest tenth, if necessary. 12 32 7 26 28 15 Leg Press (reps) 1 40-yard Dash (s) 8.6 14.6 7.1 8.3 11.9 19.4 9.5

Answers

Answer:

ŷ = 0.1197X + 9.2741

11.9 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the data:

Average number of leg press Repetition and average 40 yard dash line

Leg press rep (x) : 12 32 7 26 28 15 1

40 yard dash (y) : 8.6 14.6 7.1 8.3 11.9 19.4 9.5

Using the linear regression calculator :

The equation of the line of best fit obtained is :

y = 0.1197X + 9.2741

Where;

x = leg press (predictor variable)

y = 40 yard dash (predicted variable)

Slope = 0.1197

Intercept = 9.2741

How many seconds should he expect a player to take to run 40 yards if that player can do 22 leg-press repetitions?

22 leg press Repetitions = x

From the line of best fit equation :

y = 0.1197(22) + 9.2741

y = 11.9075

y = 11.9 seconds

The lines of best fit is the trend line of the dataset.

The equation of line of best fit is [tex]\mathbf{y =0.120x + 9.274}[/tex]The time for 22 leg-press reps is 11.9 seconds

(a) The equation of the line of best fit

The table is given as:

(x) : 12 32 7 26 28 15 1

(y) : 8.6 14.6 7.1 8.3 11.9 19.4 9.5

To determine the equation of line of best fit, we make use of a regression calculator.

Enter the above dataset in a regression calculator, the equation is:

[tex]\mathbf{y =0.120x + 9.274}[/tex] -- approximated to three decimal places

(b) The number of seconds for 22 leg-press reps

This means that x = 22.

So, we have:

[tex]\mathbf{y =0.120 \times 22 + 9.274}[/tex]

[tex]\mathbf{y =2.64 + 9.274}[/tex]

[tex]\mathbf{y =11.914}[/tex]

Approximate to the nearest tenth

[tex]\mathbf{y =11.9}[/tex]

Hence, the time for 22 leg-press reps is 11.9 seconds

Answer and Step-by-step explanation:

Solution:

Given:

A, B and C are sets.

We have to prove that:

(A − B) ∩ (C − B) = (A ∩ C) − B.

Use an element x,

Let x Є (A – B), by the definition of difference:

X Є A  and x ∉ B.

And

X Є A ∩ C and x ∉ B

X Є (A ∩ C) – B

Now let x Є C – B

By the definition of difference:

X Є C and x ∉ B

By definition of intersection: x Є C and x Є( A ∩ C)

By definition of difference, using that x Є(A ∩ C) And x  ∉ B:

X Є ( A ∩ C) – B

We know that: x Є (A – B) ∩ ( C – B)

Is equivalent to x Є A – B  and x Є C – B

So, ( x Є A and x ∉ B)

And (x Є C and x  ∉  B)

From this we know that x Є (A ∩ C) – B.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we know how far she can walk in 1/5 (one fifth) of an hour, if we multiply this distance by 5, we will find out how far she can walking in 5/5 (five fifths) of an hour, or to be clear: in one hour.

Answer: 969581/272890

A function assigns the values. The value of (f•f•f•f•f)(1) is 969581/272890.

What is a Function?

A function assigns the value of each element of one set to the other specific element of another set.

1.)

The value of f(1) for the given function f(x) =x+1/x can be calculated as shown below,

f(x) = x + 1/x

f(1) = 1 + 1/1

    = 1 + 1

    = 2

2.)

(f · f)(1) = f( f(1) )

Since the value of f(1)=2, therefore, it can be rewritten as,

(f · f)(1) = f(2)

           = 2 + 1/2

           = 4/2 + 1/2

           = 5/2

3.)

(f · f · f)(1) = f(  f(f(1)) )

Since the value of f(f(1))=5/2, therefore, it can be rewritten as,

(f · f · f)(1) = f(  (f·f)(1) )

              = f(  5/2 )

              = 5/2 + 1/(5/2)

              = 5/2 + 2/5

              = 25/10 + 4/10

              = 29/10

4.)

(f · f · f · f)(1) = f(  f(f(f(1))  )

Since the value of f(f(f(1)))=29/10, therefore, it can be rewritten as,

(f · f · f · f)(1) = f(   (f·f·f)(1)    )

                  = f( 29/10 )

                  = 29/10 + 1/(29/10)

                  = 29/10 + 10/29

                  = 841/290 + 100/290

                  = 941/290

5.)

(f · f · f · f · f)(1) = f(   f(f(f(f(1))))   )

Since the value of f(f(f(1)))=29/10, therefore, it can be rewritten as,

(f o f o f o f o f)(1) = f(   (f·f·f·f)(1)  )

                           = f(  941/290 )

                           = 941/290 + 1/(941/290)

                           = 941/290 + 290/941

                           = 885481/272890 + 84100/272890

                           = 969581/272890

Hence, the value of (f•f•f•f•f)(1) is 969581/272890.

Let f be a function such that f(2) ≤ f(x) for all values of x in the interval (0, 3). Does f(2) represent a relative minimum or a relative maximum?

Answers

Answer: f(2) is a relative minimum

This is because f(2) is the lowest y output for any given y = f(x) output on the interval [tex]0 < x < 3[/tex] which is what the interval notation (0,3) indicates.

Draw out a "parabolic" like shape where the lowest point occurs at (2, f(2)), where f(2) is unknown, but we at least know that x = 2. I put "parabolic" in quotes because it may not be a true parabola, but it looks like one. This lowest point only applies for the neighbor hood [tex]0 < x < 3[/tex].

Answer:

General Form of Equation of a line that passes through the point (-8,6) and has a slope of 3/4 is:

[tex]\frac{3}{4}x-y+12=0[/tex]

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to find equation of line that passes through the point (-8,6) and has a slope of 3/4 in general form.

The general form of linear equation is [tex]Ax+By+C=0[/tex]

First we will use slope-intercept form i.e, [tex]y=mx+b[/tex] to find equation and then write it in general form.

Where m is slope and b is y-intercept.

We are given slope = 3/4 but y-intercept is not given and we need to find.

Finding y-intercept

Using the point (-8,6) and slope m = 3/4 we can find y-intercept

[tex]y=mx+b\\6=\frac{3}{4}(-8)+b\\6=3(-2)+b\\6=-6+b\\b=6+6\\b=12[/tex]

So, y-intercept b is 12

Equation of line

The line has slope m=3/4 and y-intercept b is 12, the equation is:

[tex]y=mx+b\\y=\frac{3}{4}x+12[/tex]

General Form of Equation of a line that passes through the point (-8,6) and has a slope of 3/4 is:

Our friends, who had always lived in the city and only knew about Indians from movies and TV, we're impressed by our stories. Maybe we exaggerated and made Grandpa and the reservation sound glamorous, but when wed return home to Iowa after our yearly summer visit to Grandpa, we always had some exciting tale to tell. We always had some authentic Sioux article to show our listeners. One year Cheryl had new moccasins that Grandpa had made. On another visit, he gave me a small, round, flat rawhide drum which was decorated with a painting of a warrior riding a horse. He taught me a real Sioux chant to sing while I beat the drum with a leather-covered stick that had a feather on the end. Man, that really made an impression. We never showed our friends Grandpas picture. Not that we were ashamed of him, but because we knew that the glamorous tales we told didnt go with the real thing. Our friends would have laughed at the picture because Grandpa wasnt tall and stately like TV Indians. His hair wasnt in braids but hung in stringy gray strands on his neck, and he was old. He was our great-grandfather, and he didnt live in a tepee, but all by himself in a part log, part tar-paper shack on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. So when Grandpa came to visit us, I was so ashamed and embarrassed I couldve died.
