Why did slavery spread in the Spanish colonies?

Answers

Answer:Slavery spread throughout the Spanish colonies because the natives that were forced to work for the Spanish under the Encomienda system were under harsh conditions, which decimated much of its population. So the Spanish didn’t have enough natives to work on the sugar plantations, mines, etc., so they went to depend on the African slaves who they saw as “dispensable”, and there were a large amount of slaves being traded. The Spanish also treated the slaves with harsh work conditions, and if they died or got ill, they easily replaced them.

“One native named Squanto, taught us how to fertilize our crops using fish” -William Bradford (Massachusetts) This quotation describes the situation that settlers were faced with during the settlement of their colony in which year?

Answers

Answer: 1621

Explanation:

Most of the seeds that the settlers had come with to the colonies from England had failed to grow and so there were in danger of food shortage. Squanto who was a native who had been captured and taken to England at some point in his life, showed them how to fertilize crops by using fish.

This was in the year 1621 after the settlers had just signed a peace treaty with Chief Massasoit of the Massachusetts Indians. The help that Squanto provided them was immeasurable and this much was attested to by the Governor of Plymouth Colony, William Bradford.

How did Valley Forge showcase General George Washington’s leadership?

Answers

Answer:

In December 1777, 12,000 men of Washington's continental army marched in Valley Forge to escape the British who had just captured the capital of the revolutionary state, Philadelphia. What followed was a brutal winter that should have decimated the army but instead the opposite happened, they came out stronger. This, was as a result of Washington's leadership and the tactics of Friedrich Wilhelm Baron von Steuben.

But what made Washington so effective;

Inspirational/ Motivational

George Washington was an inspirational leader who throughout the war managed to inspire and motivate his troops and when this was massively needed in Valley Forge, he did not falter. His army had been defeated time and again and now were in a very precarious position yet they did not desert and break apart. This was because Washington was able to inspire them and just as he did in the battle at Monmouth, he did again here.

In the camp, Washington also initiated some recreational activities to keep the spirits of the men up such as theatre. At Valley Forge Washington had Addison’s play “Cato” acted.

Effective

As soon as they arrived at Valley Forge George Washington did not waste time in getting the camp organized. Within days it was reported that over 1,600 log huts had been built with Washington even giving exact measurements for the houses. Roads and trenches were also built such that the place looked like a small city.

Tactical

Even the choosing of Valley Forge as their base was a show of his leadership abilities because Washington proved his tactical mantle when he picked this location. It was chosen such that Philadelphia was close enough to watch the British and yet far enough that the British could not launch a surprise attack.

Willing to accept help

Some leaders are too proud to accept help but George Washington was not like that. When the Prussian officer Friedrich Wilhelm Baron von Steuben offered to transform the Americans into a solid and modern fighting force, he did not let pride get in his way but rather support the Prussian who then went on the make the men of the Continental army, a brilliant modern force.

Washington marched into Valley Forge with some people doubting his leadership acumen and even thinking of replacing him but marched out of Valley Forge at the head of an army that supported him and could not wait to beat the British under him. This on its own is perhaps the greatest showcase of his leadership.

What is Resettlement Administration?

On May 1st, 1935, the Resettlement Administration, a federal agency created as part of the New Deal, was established. Poor urban and rural families were relocated to the planned towns by the federal government.

In order to relocate "destitute or low-income families from rural and urban areas," manage projects addressing "soil erosion, stream pollution, seacoast erosion, reforestation, forestation, and flood control," and issue loans "to finance, in whole or in part, the purchase of farmland,.

The FSA helped farmers buy and improve their farms by lending them money, promoting soil conservation, relocating poor farmers to more productive land, and providing emergency aid. It built clean migrant farm worker camps, "Greenbelt communities" in the suburbs, and test rural settlements.

How does Madison advocate for protections or safeguards for the rights or liberties of the people?

Answers

Answer:

Madison advocates for protections or safeguards for the rights or liberties of the people by urging for a self-governed, free society. He believes that when the state gets involved in political affairs, the minority is almost always drowned out by the majority and therefore oppressed. Therefore, people should be allowed for their own opinions and guaranteed rights in the Constitution. He compares the rights or liberties of the people to religious freedom; many branches and many sects exist between religions just as how the ideas of the American people differ. For the republican cause, Madison believes that judicious modifications and a mixture of the federal principle will allow the American citizens to be capable of this kind of self-government.

The way in which Madison prescribe for the preservation of the people's rights would be as follows:

Madison always desired and advocated a liberal and sovereign society in order to prevent any kind of exploitation or oppression of minorities. He believes that the inclusion of a government will cause the outvoted to suffer as the politicians would primarily work towards the growth of the majority. In the case of self-governance, people would have their rights and opinions of their own. He also proposed that a blend of modifications in the judiciary for people of diverse cultures and religions would help in the establishment of effective self-government that will make it a better ruling state.

How did Colonist interact with the land?

Answers

Answer:

Reading some of the explorers' diaries of that era makes it clear that communicating with new peoples was a known issue, and that there were fairly clear and well-defined toolboxes to deal with it. I'm thinking particularly of Joseph Banks' Endeavor voyage notebooks, but I've seen the same thing in others. They meet a new group of people with a strange language, and rather than freaking out over it they matter-of-factly begin to collect nouns and verbs, and pick up a working vocabulary in an impressively short time. It was part of the expectations, really.

It's likely that this attitude and approach didn't carry over to the actual colonists, as opposed to the explorers, but at least they could take advantage of the initial work if so desired.

If elephant grass grows 3 2/5 inches a day, how many inches will it grow in 7 days?

Answers

119/5 or 23.8 inches

3 2/5 times 7 will give you your answer. Switch 3 and 2/5 (mixed fraction) to an improper fraction. There’s 3 wholes so 3 x 5 = 15 plus the 2 in the numerator. That will be 17/5 times 7. 17 x 7 = 119. This is still over the 5 denominator. You could keep it like that but I assume a 23.8 will look better.

Answer:

23 4/5 inches

Explanation:

3 2/5 = 3 + 2/5 = 15/5 + 2/5 = 17/5

7*17/5 = 119/5

119/5 = 115/5 + 4/5 = 23 + 4/5 = 23 4/5
