With an area of 200 square miles, Badwater Basin in Death Valley, California,
is among the largest salt flats in the world. Crystals made of sodium chloride
make up most of the white, salty ground. What is likely to be true of this area?

A. it is immune to insolation.
B. it has no heat capacity.
C. it has a high albedo.
D. it receives no radiation.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

The correct option is;

C. It has a high albedo

Explanation:

The measure of the property of a material that indicate the propensity of the material to reflect light without the light being absorbed is known as the measure of the albedo

A white surface reflects most of the incident light on its surface, and therefore is said to have a high albedo while a dark surface absorbs most of the incident light and is said to have a low albedo

A natural item with a low albedo is grass which reflects 20% of the radiation while the Badwater Basin which is a white sodium chloride salt flat has a high albedo.

Answer 2
The answer is ” c ”it has a high albedo hope it helps you good luck

What is a plasma membrane?

The membrane that divides the inside of the cell from the external environment is known as the plasma membrane, sometimes known as the cell membrane, and it is present in all cells.

A cell wall is affixed to the plasma membrane on the outside of both bacterial and plant cells. The plasma membrane is made up of lipids and proteins, much like every other cellular membrane.

Therefore, the phospholipid bilayer, which creates a permanent barrier between two aqueous compartments, is the membrane's basic structural component.

Which fat has only single bonds between the carbon atoms in the fatty acid? saturated unsaturated polyunsaturated monounsaturated

Answers

Answer:

the answer is A, saturated

Explanation:

I just took the quiz on edge

Saturated fatty acids have single bonds between carbon atom and fatty acid. The correct option is A.

What are saturated fatty acids?

Saturated fatty acids are composed of a carbon chain that contains no double bonds.

Even though fatty acids are structural components of cell membranes, this saturated arrangement adds to reduced cell fluidity.

These are not required nutrients. They are obtained primarily through the consumption of animal fats.

One of the two primary kinds of fat is saturated fatty acids. Stearic acid, palmitic acid, myristic acid, and lauric acid are examples of typical dietary saturated fatty acids.

Saturated fatty acids have hydrocarbon chains that are solely linked by single bonds. There are one or more double bonds in unsaturated fatty acids.

Thus, the correct option is A.

Bacteria with the ability to break down certain types of plastic are placed with a colony of E. coli bacteria that lack this ability. Plasmid transfer occurs between the two colonies of bacteria and some of the E. coli gain the ability to break down plastic as well. What inference can be drawn about the nature of plasmids from this observation? A. Plasmids are carbohydrates which provide structural support. B. Plasmids are lipids which provide energy for the cell. C. Plasmids are proteins which build tissues. D. Plasmids are nucleic acids which can pass on traits

Answers

Answer:

D. Plasmids are nucleic acids which can pass on traits

Explanation:

A Nucleic acid is one of the four biomolecule polymers in living systems. It is made up of monomeric units called Nucleotides. RNA and DNA are the two nucleic acids in existence and they function in storage and expression of genetic information.

According to the question, a colony of bacteria that can break plastics were mixed with the colony that can't break plastics. The two different colonies engage plamids, which conferred the ability to break plastics to some of the colonies that previously couldn't. This tells us that the ability to break plastics in the certain bacteria colony is GENETIC.

If the trait is genetic, the plasmid must be a nucleic acid because of the ability to genetically pass on traits. Note that, a plasmid is an extra-chromosomal DNA (nucleic acid) capable of replicating on its own. Hence, plasmids are nucleic acids which can pass on traits.

What do you think of genetic engineering? Are GMO's good or bad?

With genetically engineering humans, should we be tampering with the human genome? Do you think humans can stick to a limit (only curing diseases) or do you think humans would begin engineering people?

Answers

I wrote a paper about this not too long ago! I don’t know a lot about GMO’s, but I can answer your questions about genetic engineering in humans.

I feel that genetic engineering has a lot of promise, especially with eradicating genetic diseases, but it is still very new and research needs to be done with extreme caution. If gene editing technology was allowed to be used in more than just extreme circumstances, there would be a lot of room for misuse, things we can only imagine now, like changing someone’s physical features (eye color, skin color, etc). This is just one issue that could lead to less diversity and discrimination of a whole new kind, and just kind of spiral from there. There have been people who have died during experimental genetic engineering, I read a study where it was used to cure a handful of children of a genetic disorder, but then the tampering led to about half of them being diagnosed with a type of cancer that came directly from the gene editing, and at least one passed away. All this to say, genetic engineering can be a good thing, but there do need to be limits and further research should tread very lightly.

Kind of a long answer, sorry, but I hope this helps!
