Why is jury selection so critical in a trial? (Select all that apply.)

Because a jury trial is a constitutional right.

Because a judge does not have the capacity to decide every case.

Because a successful trial requires an impartial group of people who will judge the case fairly.

Because voir dire means that jurors have to tell the truth.

You’re on patrol and you’re dispatched to a drive-by shooting- one victim dead, numerous victims in the area. ( What do you do?)

Answers

Call the homicide unit and then they will take the case from there

Answer:

So multiple officers would be sent to this kind of incident. If you work for a big department it might just be your people, otherwise you’ll be pulling additional units from all over.

Here's what the response would look like:

-First unit there is incident command. You get on the radio and say “this is unit whatever, I will be incident command until relieved. I need medics, detectives, and a <appropriate level supervisor> sent to my scene. Assign an officer to start a crime scene log ASAP.

-Second, you secure the scene so it’s safe for medics to come in and save lives. If your officers are able to save lives they start doing so. You’re going to be detaining everyone in the area as a potential witness. You also are going to block off the area, as this is now a murder scene, and might become a multiple murder case. You always rope off more area than you may need; you can make a crime scene smaller but you might not be able to make it bigger.

-Third you get as much suspect info as you can, and get it released to everyone in the area. Subjects, vehicles, weapons used, direction of travel, and anything else that might help ID the shooters.

-Fourth, as incident command you start following up with everyone you delegated tasks to, to make sure they happened. You update whatever supervisor arrives or is still on their way. Once you have a scene secured you need to organize an area for medics to use. Ideally you work with a Fire/Rescue LT/BC to get a dual command going. Evidence techs and detectives will be headed to you, you need to get a staging area for them as well. I usually find the first detective and tell them if they are not taking incident command from me, I need them to run their people and get back to me. Find an officer to wrangle the media that will show up, and make sure to sit those guys in an area where they can’t get in the way. The media should be put as far as legally possible from the scene.

-Fifth, you hold the fort and organize. Bust out the command white board and write down what is done, what needs to be done, and who is doing it. Put names, badge numbers, and phone numbers next to the tasks. Be prepared to deal with a secondary scene. Make sure everyone has the gear they need. Find someone without a job and have them go get a LOT of coffee and food for everyone that will be out here for hours.

What are the consequences of illegality in relation to contract law?

Answers

The general rule is this: courts will not enforce illegal bargains. The parties are left where the court found them, and no relief is granted: it's a hands-off policy. The illegal agreement is void, and that a wrongdoer has benefited to the other's detriment does not matte

hope you like the answer

An illegal agreement under the common law of contract, is one that the court will not enforce because the purpose of the agreement is to achieve an illegal end. The illegal end must result from performance of the contract itself. The classic example of such an agreement is a contract for murder.

Contracts are so important in our lives because they legally bind the persons involved in a relationship. Any violation of contract can be remedied, and damages can be calculated.

What is the significance of contract law?

A contract's principal aim is to establish new ties and describe the numerous legal obligations that each party owes to the other. Most contracts are now made between corporations rather than individuals.

Aside from the fundamental characteristic, the contract has additional important legal features that strengthen the relationship between the parties. If the contract entered into between the parties is judged to be illegitimate, the court of Law will not enforce it.

The court will rule that no contract existed between the parties and will leave the parties “as they were” at the time of the breach, Because they legally tie the individuals engaged in a relationship, any contract infringement may be addressed, and damages can be estimated.

Imagine a scenario in which a candidate in a democratic election receives the majority of the
votes but does not win the election. It sounds contrary to everything we know about the
democratic process. But in the United States, this scenario can actually happen because of the
electoral college.
The electoral college is a system used for electing the president of the United States. Unlike the
popular vote, where each citizen directly casts their ballot for the candidate of their choice, the
electoral college relies on representatives, called electors, to cast votes on behalf of their state.
Many states require that electors cast votes according to the results of the popular vote for the
state.
Today, the electoral college is made up of 538 electors. States are allotted electors based on
their number of congressional representatives: one elector for each of the two state senators,
and one elector for each member in the House of Representatives. States with larger
populations, and therefore larger congressional delegations, have more electors than smaller
states. To win the election, a presidential candidate must receive a majority of 270 electoral
votes. Typically, an elected president wins both the popular vote and the electoral college.
There have been several instances in US history, however, when the candidate with the highest
number of popular votes did not win the electoral college, and thus lost the election.
In 1824, John Quincy Adams was elected president over Andrew Jackson, despite losing both
the electoral college and the popular vote. Jackson received 38,000 more popular votes than
Adams. Jackson also beat Adams 99 to 84 in the electoral college, but he failed to gain the
majority of votes (131 at that time) to win the electoral college. The decision went to the House
of Representatives, which elected Adams.
In 1876, Samuel J. Tilden won the popular vote over Rutherford B. Hayes by over 250,000

The police report:

On Sunday at 4 in the afternoon we received a call from the Pérez family. Mr. Pérez explained to us that they had left the house at 3:30 in the afternoon to go to the store. They returned at 4 in the afternoon. When he called the police, Mr. Pérez reported that someone had broken into his home and stole his new television from the wall. A police officer came to the house at 4:20 to check on the situation. He found three suspects on the corner of the neighborhood. Here are their stories.

Juan (a 19-year-old young man):

It is true that I am one of the neighbors of the Pérez family. They are a good family. Today at 9 in the morning I went to church with my grandmother. I came back at 11 and spent the rest of the day watching videos. No one was here with me.

David (a 23-year-old man):

I live in front of the Pérez family. They are very nice to me. Sometimes Mrs. Pérez invites me to have dinner with them. It is very sad that this happened to you. Today, I stayed home until 3 in the afternoon. So, I went to the bank to talk to someone about a problem I had with my account. After solving my problem, I returned here to my house. It was 3:45 in the afternoon when I returned.

Manuel (a 17-year-old young man):

I live next to the Pérez family. I am a friend of Rafael, Mr. Pérez's son. I go to his house almost every day to spend time with him. He came to my house today because I was very sick. We only listen to music and talk about the girls in our class. He left at 3:25 in the afternoon to go to the store with his family. After leaving, I went to my room to sleep.

What force would a baseball exert if gravity pulls it down and its mass is 8 kg?

Answers

Answer:

Force = 78.4 N

Explanation:

Given the following data;

Mass = 8kg

We know that acceleration due to gravity, g is equal to 9.8m/s²

To find the force;

Force = mass * acceleration due to gravity

Substituting into the equation, we have;

Force = 8 * 9.8

Force = 78.4 N

Therefore, the baseball would exert a force of 78.4 Newton.
