Dear friend.

I hope your trip to Malaysia has been very successful. It is a pity that I was not able to go with you, but I hope that soon I will be able to accompany you on this trip.

There are many things that I am curious about Malaysia, especially with the cuisine of this country that is so different from ours, and that is exactly why I am writing this email, to ask you how is the cuisine there and what foods do I need prove when I'm there. I also need to know if I have to take any precautions regarding food, as, as you already know, I have an allergy to some ingredients and I would like to know if they are common in Malaysian cuisine.

Finally, I hope to be able to find you soon and look forward to your response.

Explanation:

The novel "The Strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson is a book which tells a story about an old doctor with mental issues and has the ability to shapshift into  another person by a sip of a potion. Utterson, his long time friend, is taking time in investigating in this mysterious and puzzling case. However, the storyline of this novel is not realistic and it is easy to tell that it is a work of fiction.

Firstly, regarding the realism of the story, I did not really appreciate it because for me it's not realistic at all.  Not just because of the science fiction element, which is normal for this genre to not be realistic, but because of the story in general without considering the science fiction element. For example, we know that Dr. Jekyll is a sociopathic criminal who is murdering people, but the police in the novel are not taking this seriously.  It is not normal that in a situation, like in the novel, the police are not very engage while realistically speaking, the police should be doing thier best to solve the case.

Secondly, we can asume that Utterson have many clues and hints to help him the identity of Mr. Hyde, Jekyll, yet he did not manage to find out. It was just as if he did not consider and actually thought about the clues that was given to him, and that is another example of something not being realistic. People might just think that Utterson may not be not very smart but he, as a lawyer, should be able to point out the answer based on the clues.

Finally, another example that proves the story is not realistic is, in chapter 6, Utterson did not open and read the letter from his friend, Lanyon, who had passed away. The letter was a part of the strange case of Jekyll and although that he was told not to open it, I wonder how his curiosity did not take over him like normal humans let thier curiosity take over them. The letter being something that relates to the case was also another reason for it to be opened and read yet Utterson resisted and left it unopened.

This is the finished edited version I did for you and I'm also going to add a conclusion for you since most essays have one and I'm not exaclty sure why you didn't have one.

"The Strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is definitely strange. The story and actions of the characters were not what a normal human would do in real life. Although that the genre is science fiction, the decisions of the characters were not realistic. There is no logical explanation on the reason behind it. All in all, the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson has a confusing storyline.

I changed some of the phrases to make them sound better but just a reminder that you don't have to. It sounds more professional to me but it might not for you so change what you think should be changed since this essay isn't mine. I really hoped this helped and your english level is already really good, I just think that you should practice some more on the grammer part:)

BRAINLIEST: Did the writer of the play flowers for Algernon script faithfully translate the story?

Answers

Daniel Keyes was born in 1927 in Brooklyn, New York. After working as a merchant seaman, he attended Brooklyn College, where he earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He went on to become a fiction editor at Marvel Science Fiction and also worked as a high school teacher for intellectually disabled adults. Having periodically published science-fiction stories since the early 1950s, Keyes drew on his experience in the classroom and his love of science fiction to compose a short story called “Flowers for Algernon” in 1959.

The story, about an intellectually disabled man whose IQ is tripled as the result of an experimental operation, was widely acclaimed and enormously popular. The story received one of science fiction’s highest honors, the Hugo Award, for best story of the year in 1959. In 1961, a successful television adaptation, The Two Worlds of Charlie Gordon, starred Cliff Robertson as Charlie. Still interested in the character of Charlie and the ideas contained in the short story, Keyes set out to enlarge “Flowers for Algernon” into a full-length novel. The result, published in 1966, won the Nebula Award—science fiction’s other highest honor—for best novel of the year and expanded dramatically on the popularity of the short story. In 1968, the novel version was adapted again, this time for a feature film called Charly. Cliff Robertson reprised his role as Charlie Gordon and won an Academy Award for his performance. The story has since been adapted many times in many media, notably in 1978 as a short-lived Broadway musical, Charlie and Algernon, and as a television drama in 2000 starring Matthew Modine.

The novel version of Flowers for Algernon was the high point of Daniel Keyes’s career, and it remains by far his most popular and most acclaimed work, having been consistently in print for nearly forty years. Keyes has not been a prolific author; since his success with Flowers for Algernon, he has written only three more novels and three works of journalism exploring true crime cases. Like Flowers for Algernon, both his fiction and nonfiction are primarily focused on the extraordinary complexities of the human mind. One book of journalism, The Minds of Billy Milligan, tells the true story of a convicted murderer with multiple personality disorder who claimed to embody twenty-four different personae. In 2000, Keyes published a book called Algernon, Charlie, and I: A Writer’s Journey, chronicling his relationship with his most famous story, from his first inspiration to write it to his reflections on its continuing success decades later.

The widespread and enduring interest in Flowers for Algernon is a testament to the depth and originality of its premise. Many people wonder how their lives would be affected by becoming more, or less, intelligent, and Keyes gives us a glimpse into what such a journey might be like. Though Keyes’s background is in science fiction and the novel undoubtedly belongs to that genre, it also transcends the limitations of the genre. Whereas many -science-fiction writers alienate mainstream readers by focusing on technology and the inhuman aspects of the worlds they create, Keyes uses science fiction as a springboard for an exploration of universal human themes such as the nature of intellect, the nature of emotion, and how the two interact.

Though Flowers for Algernon depends on science fiction to drive its plot—no intelligence-enhancing surgery has yet been attempted or realized—its characters and situations are quite ordinary. The characters are New York City scientists, teachers, bakers, and barbers, not the space rangers and galactic swashbucklers often associated with science fiction. Indeed, Keyes utilizes science fiction’s potential for philosophical inquiry and its capacity to explore the extremes of human nature by imagining an altered version of the world. However, he combines these aspects of science fiction with realistic characters in a realistic environment, creating a work that has enthralled both people who are indifferent to science fiction and avid fans of the genre.

In chapter 11 of outsiders: what are two things that Darry tell Pony is "Still pretty racked up mentally an emotionally." What evidence in the text support Darry's statement?
Btw I used the statement "Johnny who caused the death."

Answers

Explanation:

Whenever Randy Adderson has a conversation with Ponyboy about the upcoming trial, Ponyboy mentions that he was the one who killed Bob Sheldon. Ponyboy believes that Johnny was innocent and takes the blame for murdering the Soc member. The reason Ponyboy insists that he was the one who stabbed Bob Sheldon is because he is both in a state of denial and is suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder. Ponyboy has just witnessed the deaths of his two close friends which is extremely traumatizing. He is not thinking clearly and desperately wants to repress the memories of the tragic events. Ponyboy is also in a state of denial and does not want to accept Johnny's death. He is essentially tricking himself as a coping mechanism. Ponyboy eventually comes to terms with the tragic death of Johnny and accepts the reality of the rough situation.

Man, standing at the back of the line

Passengers, forming a line

(People are calmly standing in line with boarding passes in their hands. Flight Attendant enters stage left. She approaches the front of the line.)
Flight Attendant: (in a falsely cheerful voice) We are now ready to board for Flight 5B. Please have your boarding passes ready.
(The line begins to move forward. Suddenly, a chain reaction of gagging and screaming starts from the back of the line. The people in the back of the line are looking off stage right.)
Flight Attendant: What is it?
(A vulture enters stage right. He is carrying several beat-up, old stuffed animal dolls with him.)
Vulture: (to last man in line) Excuse me, sir. Is this the boarding line for Flight 5B?
Man: Aaack! You are carrying around dead animals! That's disgusting!
Vulture: I brought them as an afternoon snack.
(The people in the line react more violently than before. The sound of their gagging fades. The lights dim and a spotlight hits the vulture.)
Vulture: I guess I can't blame them. This is the reaction I get everywhere I go. (sighs) It's hard for a vulture to make friends with humans. Humans have called me ugly, gross, disgusting. The list goes on. I've stopped trying to reason with them. I tried to explain that I was just made to eat animal carcasses. I don't know how to make them understand. I don't act rudely when I see someone eating fruit. All I want is a little respect.
(The gagging sound begins again and lights come back up.)
Man: Go away! No one wants you on this plane.
Flight Attendant: (approaching the vulture, holding her nose) Sir, you are creating a disturbance and bothering the other passengers. I'm afraid that I cannot allow you to board this plane.
Vulture: But I bought a ticket like everyone else.
Woman: If he gets on that plane, I am going to sue the airline for undue distress. I can't believe he wants to bring dead animals on the plane. Dead animals are disgusting.
Vulture: (to audience) Someone needs to tell that to the little guy draped around her neck. (to flight attendant) Well, if you don't let me on, then I'll go to the ACLU and sue the airline for discrimination!
Flight Attendant: Oh no. Umm . . . umm.
(Pilot enters stage left.)
Pilot: What is taking so long? We are on a tight schedule. Let's get this plane . . . whoa, what's that smell?
(All the people talk at once and point at the vulture. The vulture droops a little. The flight attendant runs to the pilot and grabs his arm.)
Flight Attendant: We have a big problem. This vulture bought a ticket and wants to board, but his "luggage" is causing a commotion. What should we do?
Pilot: (approaching vulture) I'm very sorry, sir, but you cannot get on the plane with those. (points to stuffed dolls) The airline's rules are very clear. (clears throat and speaks as if reciting a memorized passage) Chapter 4, Section 20, Paragraph 2, "Only one carrion allowed per passenger."

Hello. Although you have submitted the text, you have not submitted any questions associated with it. This makes it impossible for me to give you an answer. However, I will try to help you by showing you the context and the meaning of this text within the story.

This text is an excerpt from "A Long Way Gone" written by Ishmael Beah, where he recounts the experiences he had when he became a soldier, still a child at the age of 12, in the Sierra Leone War.

The excerpt presented by you shows how much the war and the situation where Beah lived made him mature a lot and at an early age, since from an early age, he understood the concept of death and especially the concept of death of someone dear and loved. He presents the monkey as a representation of the government, blamed for the deaths and the problems that all citizens in the region are facing, for this reason, the government needs to be removed, killed and overthrown, preventing other people from being killed on his behalf.
