"Arise, Awake and Stop not till the Goal is Reached." - said the great sanyasi of India a decade ago.Born on 12th January 1863 in Kolkata, Narendranath Dutta was a scholar since his childhood days. He could remember the Ramayana and the Mahabharata even he had read it once only. He was known for his honesty and devotion. Meditation was a forte to him. He met Sri Ramkrishna in 1881 and became a monk at the age of twenty-five. Then he was named Swami Vivekananda. After Ramkrishna's death, Swamiji went to the West for exploring the culture there and also speaking about his own nation. He was known worldwide after his famous speech in the "Parliament of Religions" took place in Chicago, where people were inspired by his introduction of his speech, "Sisters and Brothers of America". When he came back to India, he made his best to wake up her people. On 1 May 1897 in Calcutta, Vivekananda founded the Ramakrishna Mission for social service. In 1897, he predicted that, India will be free in next 50 years and freedom will appear in an unexpected manner. Truly, India gained independence in 1947, 50 years after his speech. This great hero breathed his last on 4th July 1902 at the young age of 39 years. But he is still in our hearts.

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy
smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: It was a hobbit hole, and that moans
comfort.
It had a perfect round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The
door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and
floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs, and lots and lots of pegs for hats and coats - the hobbit was
fond of visitors. The tunnel wound on and on, going fairly but not quite straight into the side of the hill - The Hill, as all
the people for many miles round called it - and many little round doors opened out of it, first on one side and then on
another, No going upstairs for the hobbit: bedrooms, bathrooms, cellars, pantries (lots of these), wardrobes (he had
whole rooms devoted to clothes), kitchens, dining-rooms, all were on the same floor, and indeed on the same
passage. The best rooms were all on the left-hand side (going in), for these were the only ones to have windows,
deep-set round windows looking over his garden, and meadows beyond, sloping down to the river.

1. On our … we were greeted by the head of the department. (ARRIVE)

Answers

We are supposed to use the word in parentheses to form a new word and fill in the blank. We can do it as follows:

1. On our arrival, we were greeted by the head of the department.

The word in parentheses, "arrive", is a verb. However, what the sentence needs is not a verb, but a noun.

The noun we must come up with needs to be derived from the verb "arrive". It must mean the action of arriving somewhere.

The only possible option is "arrival". It is formed by adding the suffix -al to "arrive" to transform it into a noun. Another example of using the suffix to make a noun out of a verb is "renew -renewal."

With that in mind, we can correctly complete the sentence as: On our arrival, we were greeted by the head of the department.

Poem:
We wear the mask that grins and lies,
It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes, —
This debt we pay to human guile;
With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
And mouth with myriad subtleties.
Why should the world be over-wise,
In counting all our tears and sighs?
Nay, let them only see us, while
We wear the mask.
We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries
To thee from tortured souls arise.
We sing, but oh the clay is vile
Beneath our feet, and long the mile;
But let the world dream otherwise,
We wear the mask!

Many things that we use every day, like televisions, computers, refrigerators, and microwaves, require energy in order to work. We also rely on energy to make a car run and to heat water. All of the energy that we need to use must first be produced. Some sources of energy, such as gas and oil, can be harmful to the environment. Burning gas and oil can pollute the air. Also, gas and oil are limited, and we are using up the small amount that is left on the planet. This is why people should use alternative energy sources, which do not pollute the environment and are plentiful. Solar and wind energy are clean energy sources that should be used more often to reduce the pollution on Earth.

Yemassee hosts one of the few commercial breeding facilities of non-human primates in the entire United States, Alpha Genesis, Inc., which serves as a major employer for the town.
