Answer 1

Answer: B. Cognitive shortcut of the brain.

Explanation:

Confirmation bias refers to the human tendency of finding and processing information in a way that it favors a view or belief that we already have on something.

It can enable one to weed out false information as specific information is searched for but it can also lead to a distortion in judgement.

It is not however, a cognitive shortcut of the brain.

Maurice has been asked to write a research paper on American abolitionist Harriet Tubman who lived from 1820 to 1913. Maurice must examine the sources he has collected

Answers

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Unfortunately, you forgot to include the question. Here we just have a statement, but not a question.

What is your question? What do you want to know?

If this is a true or false question, then the correct answer is "true."

It is true that if Maurice has been asked to write a research paper on American abolitionist Harriet Tubman who lived from 1820 to 1913, Maurice must examine the sources he has collected.

This is the correct way to start the essay, researching the proper sources, primary or secondary, to support the arguments of his essays. He has to be aware of the exact information and validity of the sources to have his arguments correct. Otherwise, he could risk the accuracy of the information to be included.

Maurice must collect enough sources and then decide what kind of information best suits the approach of his essay. That is why it is so important that he can write a good hypothesis.

Answer:

a digital print of an entry from the  diary of William Still, an African  American abolitionist, 1821–1902. - primary

"The Negro Moses". The Columbian  (Bloomsburg, PA), July 8, 1897,  Page 2, Image 2, col. 3 - primary

"Harriet Tubman and the Underground  Railroad” (an article retrieved from  nps.gov, March 11, 2017) - secondary

The Abolitionist Movement by  Claudine L. Ferrell, published  by Greenwood Publishing, 2006 - secondary

write a letter on saving ocean pollution

Answers

We should stop polluting our ocean.

Dear Future President

When I was a little kid I always learn about how humans pollute and destroy our world into a dump. I also learned that many people are trying to fix it by recycling and using less trash. Now that I am a 14 year old I still see that the world is getting an increase in industry and more ocean environments are getting destroyed. As we keep doing these habits animals and humans depend on the ocean to live. I claim that you have to decide to put an end to ocean pollution.

The problems are caused by human activities like oil spills, waste, and industrial waste. Humans dump all the waste they don’t need and since they don’t know where to put it they decide to dump it all in the ocean. While I was researching I saw many pictures of endangered sea animals getting caught in plastic and eating trash from humans. Animals are endangered because of human activities and one day they will be extinct. Cargo ships and cruise ships dump oil which makes the environment polluted more. In your mind I know you need to increase American GDP but our country is already one of the richest countries around the globe. Pesticides are also a big problem to ocean pollution. Farmers put pesticides all over our food we eat. Study shows that fruits and vegetables are meant to be eaten organically. We need to start to grow our food organically. People are always throwing trash away in the environment we live in. Animals eat the trash we dump thinking that it is food. The whole world depends on the ocean to live.

I know there will be some opposition to my claim, but I have solutions. If we put more limits on industry and be stricter on manufacturing then the ocean environment would be clean. Instead of ocean ship tours we can have more beach tourism then it results improvement in coastal communities. Like I said in paragraph two we should grow our foods more organically instead of using pesticides. When it starts raining the rain carries the pesticides with them and it ends in the ocean environment. People are always known for throwing trash in the wild where all the innocent animals live. We should put more recycle bins in areas where people throw trash instead of throwing it in the ocean community. We depend on the ocean to live on this planet. You can make citizens of our country to donate to the ocean for the endangered species that are close to extinction. Since you are the president and the leader of our country you can make smarter decisions like making more programs to protect our oceans. Humans always throw away soda cans and plastic. We should make these cans, plastic, and other litter edible. Scientists have been making trash edible because creatures always eat trash thinking its edible.

After I wrap up my letter to the great president I conclude that you should put more rules and laws on ocean pollution. We depend on the ocean and the whole world does too. If we waste it then we will lose a chance on this earth.

What is the Elizabethan Era?

The Tudor era of England's history, which Queen Elizabeth I ruled throughout, is known as the Elizabethan age. It is frequently referred to be the heyday of English history by historians.

The Elizabethan era was notable for its unbridled excitement, a strong sense of patriotism, tolerance of all religions, and intellectual advancement. Incredible ideas, intense emotions, and ferocious deeds were the cornerstone of this period. The dramatic development is astonishing. Additionally, this is a poetic age.

The Elizabethan era is seen as an English Renaissance period that fostered pride in the country via the pursuit of classical ideals, global expansion, and naval victory. Poetry, music, and literature all flourished during this period of the English Renaissance.

There were four primary social groups in Elizabethan England: the Nobility, the Gentry, the Yeomanry, and the Poor. Class affected a person's ability to dress, reside, and get certain types of employment for themselves and their offspring.

I walk fast to room 10, Abuelo's "suite." He is sitting up in his bed writing with a pencil in one of those old-fashioned black hardback notebooks. It has the outline of the island of Puerto Rico on it. I slide into the hard vinyl chair by his bed.

How does this excerpt best develop the setting in the story?

It reveals that the nursing home is an uncomfortable place for Arturo.

It shows that Abuelo lives in a large, fancy room.

The men, whom he sent on shore, found a large village not far from the shore, where they were most cordially received. The natives begged the Europeans to stay with them, and as it proved, Columbus accepted the invitation for a part of his crew. On the first day three different chiefs came to visit him, in a friendly way, with their retinues. The next day more than a hundred and twenty canoes visited the ship, bringing with them such presents as the people thought would be acceptable. Among these were bread from the cassava root, fish, water in earthen jars, and the seeds of spices. These spices they would stir in with water to make a drink which they thought healthful. Answer: Hospitable

Explanation:

People who are hospitable welcome guests and treat them as well as possible. These people will often feed the guests and give them gifts or souvenirs to show their appreciation for the guests visiting.

This is what happened in this case when Christopher Columbus got to this village in the New World. Sadly he repaid their hospitability with hostility as he enslaved and murdered huge numbers of Native Americans.
