Read the paragraph. I have been a nurse for twenty years. In that time, I have seen a great number of patients suffer because they did not have health insurance. One of the worst cases was a young mother of two who was diagnosed with early stage skin cancer. Because she could not afford treatment, the cancer spread from her skin to other parts of her body. By the time I saw her for the first time, the cancer had reached her brain and she could no longer be helped. This sort of thing should not happen to anyone. A strong universal health care system could prevent instances like this from occurring. As given in the excerpt, the story has animal characters who are able to talk and act like any human being. They are also fighting against each other, just like humans do at times of war. In Sophocles's Antigone, Haemon emerges as the voice of reason in the face of his father Creon's obstinacy. Which lines in this excerpt reflect Haemon’s reasonable nature?

Answers

Answer:

"The commons stand in terror of thy frown, And dare not utter aught that might offend, But I can overhear their muttered plaints, Know how the people mourn this maiden doomed."

Explanation:

Haemon presents his dad with two similitudes, endeavoring to break Creon's obstinate ways. He at that point describes a similar thought through cruising a ship. 'What's more, a similar thing occurs in cruising: Make your sheet quick, never loosen,- - and over you go, Head over heels and under: and there's your voyage.' Both bits of knowledge endeavor to remind his dad that occasionally we need to change our approaches to keep us alive, yet Creon needs nothing to do with Haemon's apparently young beliefs.

There are not enough staff members at the Kilbarchan Home for Boys to oversee the distribution of the bicycles. The residents of the Kilbarchan Home for Boys may not like the bicycles that Justin restored. There are not enough bicycles for the residents of the Kilbarchan Home for Boys.

Answers

Answer:

There are not enough bicycles for the residents of the Kilbarchan Home for Boys.

Explanation:

Phillip Hoose's short story "Justin Lebo" tells the story of a ten-year-old boy named Justin Lebo who decided to make bikes from worn-out bike parts for a good cause. The struggle and the determination that the young boy had in his aim to make bikes for every single boy in the Home made him a sensation and also provides him the happiness and contention he needed about himself.

In the given passage, Justin and his mother were driving back from the home. His mind was racing for he had only given two repaired bikes for a number of boys in a shelter home. His question "How would all those kids decide who got the bikes?" reveals the main conflict of who gets the two bikes out of the many boys in the home.

Thus, the correct answer is that there are not enough bikes for the boys in the Kilbarchan Home.

Today, few people have heard of Jundi Shapur. But in its time, it was an exceptional university. Jundi Shapur was built in what is now Iran sometime between the 400s and mid-500s A.D. We can only guess the dates, but we do know more about the school. It was the meeting place of the world's great minds. In 529, Christians closed the school of Athens—the last link to the academies of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. The remaining Greek scholars moved to Jundi Shapur. Jews joined them, as did a group of Christians called Nestorians, who had their own ancient and scholarly traditions. Persians added their voices, and one of their learned doctors set off for what is now India, to gather and translate the wisdom of the Hindus. The school created the very first teaching hospital in the world, a place where the sick were treated and young doctors learned their craft, as well as a fine observatory to track the heavens. At Jundi Shapur the best scholars west of China all gathered to think and study together.

Can someone give me some info on the author J W Lynne. I need it for a biography I am creating for my english pre - ib class that I am taking. Please do not make any absurd answers. I really need help.

Answers

Answer:

I once dreamed of becoming a screenwriter. It took writing four screenplays before I realized that unless a script becomes a movie or TV show it's hard to share it with others. That's why screenplay number five, Wild Animal School, about a sixteen-year-old girl who spends a magical summer at an exotic animal ranch, became a young-adult novel instead.

Wild Animal School was the product of a lifetime of research. As a child, I was surrounded by not-so-exotic animals, like dogs, cats, and a guinea pig. When I grew older, I had the privilege of spending time with tigers, lions, leopards, grizzly bears, monkeys, and elephants. Although Wild Animal School was set at a fictional ranch, where exotic animals are trained for movies and TV shows, the interactions between the main character and the animals were drawn from my own personal experiences. After months of writing, rewriting, and editing Wild Animal School, the book was published. And people started reading it! People all over the world!

And so I wrote another novel. This one was based on one of my already-written screenplays, Kid Docs, which imagines a world where children are trained to be doctors. The screenplay, and the book, were inspired by my experiences as a medical student, resident, and doctor. Readers of Kid Docs were intrigued. They described the novel as: "Ender's Game, only they're training the kids to be doctors instead of soldiers" and "Doogie Howser, M.D., but with multiple Doogies" and "Grey's Anatomy, but with kids."

My next novel was set in the city I call home: Los Angeles. Lost in Los Angeles tells the story of two emotionally wounded people who help heal each other; it's a love story, but with a shocking twist. Readers of Lost in Los Angeles said things like, "I have read many books and I don't think one has moved me as much as this one did ... My eyes are welling up and my heart aches. I absolutely love this book." (Elizabeth, The Bookish Way). I decided to continue the adventures of Lost in Los Angeles' protagonist, Erin, in a sequel to Lost in Los Angeles. In Lost in Tokyo, Erin travels to Japan with her best friend, Adam, and their experience changes Erin and Adam's friendship forever. I used my experiences during a recent trip to Japan with one of my best friends to shape Erin and Adam's adventures.

For my next novel, I wanted to try something different. I'd been reading a bunch of dystopian novels, including Divergent (by Veronica Roth), The Hunger Games (by Suzanne Collins), and The Giver (by Lois Lowry) and had an idea for a new take on the genre, so I wrote Above the Sky, a story of forbidden romance set in a dystopian future society founded on lies. Unlike my previous books, Above the Sky was based on my imagination rather than personal experiences. (Although, in addition to putting my medical knowledge to use, I consulted experts in a variety of fields, including a former Navy SEAL, an engineer, and a pilot.) When I started to hear back from those who read Above the Sky, it was clear that this book sparked people's imaginations the way writing the book sparked mine. And so I continued the story. Eventually, Above the Sky became a four-book series!

My newest book, The Unknown, is inspired by my love of dystopian novels, loosely combined with my obsession with the Netflix hit show Stranger Things.

I hope you enjoy reading the Above the Sky series, The Unknown, Lost in Los Angeles, Lost in Tokyo, Kid Docs, and Wild Animal School! I'd love to hear your questions or comments! You can contact me here.

The urban parks are defined as the place of solace, recreation and community fun. They help us to fight pollution, to encourage biodiversity in city centres and help to control temperatures and humidity. The green zones in city centres are also crucial to social cohesion.

They also reduce the ultraviolet radiations and noise from the road traffic and machinery and generate a sort of oasis for both plants and animals. It is also a perfect place for citizens to relax and play sports.

Read the excerpt from The Dark Game by Paul
Janeczko
What topic does Janeczko introduce in this passage?
O the power of Washington, D.C., during the Civil War
O the lives of famous spies during the Civil War
O the most effective methods for crossing enemy lines
O the South's geographical advantage in the Civil War
Most of the war was fought in states south of
Washington, D.C., so Southerners saw the Union army
as an invading force. For the Union soldiers, this meant
they had to fight in unfamiliar and hostile territory. This
matter of geography affected the spies who worked
behind enemy lines. Northern spies could not often
count on much hospitality from Southerners. On the
other hand, since so much of the war was fought in the
South, Confederate spies could usually find a safe
house, or at least a sympathetic soul who was willing to
allow a "good southern boy" to hide in their barn until
the danger had passed

Answers

Answer:

the South's geographical advantage in the Civil War

Explanation:

Although Janeczko´s non-fiction novel is aimed to explore the stories of real, and sometimes famous, spies in the history of The United States,  this particular passage refers exclusively to the geographical advantage Southerners had during the Civil War.

Given that Southern states were the most often place for the confrontation, the Confederate spies found it easier to be safe, while the Union spies were at a disadvantage because they were in an unknown and unfriendly region.

Answer:
