Write an essay explaining why it is important to keep the promises you make

Answers

Explanation:

When we don’t keep a promise to someone, it may make the person think that we don’t value them and that we’ve chosen to put something or someone ahead of our commitment to them. Even if it’s a small promise, the person we break that promise to now believes that they cannot rely on us or count on us for anything. Words are literal building blocks of your existence and even shape and reflect your integrity. Since we know words hold that much power, we need to always have positive intentions and never lie or say something that we won’t or don’t live up to, which includes making a promise that you intend to keep, under any circumstances.

Keeping a promise shows to the person you’re in the relationship with, whether it be a friend, schoolmate, colleague, husband, wife, child or other, that you’re an honest person and won’t try to hide anything from them, and that your intentions with them never have to be questioned. Some of us may spend so much time making promises to our loved ones, and then when we can’t follow through with them, they just end up being hurt and we feel guilty because we couldn’t make our words turn into action. Sometimes it’s out of choice, which is a very selfish act; forgetfulness, again, selfish; or maybe it’s because we just can’t follow through with it, though in the beginning, we almost knew for a fact we could.

Making false promises- a promise that is made by someone with no intent to carry it out or just to plain deceive someone- is something that could end the trust in your relationship, because that is just as bad as lying to them deliberately and it hurts the other person, especially when it’s a big promise. Even small ones hurt. That’s why we need to be aware of everything we do. We have to make our “yes” actually mean “yes” and our “no” actually mean “no”. Any situation we are faced with where we have to make a serious promise or even making a small one, no matter how big or small the promise is, we need to be sure we are absolutely positive that we will carry it out so that person can have our full trust and know that they can rely on us for anything. That is what builds a strong, healthy and happy relationship.

How did the Greasers react to the beatings Johnny received from his father? What evidence is there in paragraphs 1-5 that the Greasers were more deeply affected by Johnny’s beating at the hands of the Socs? Why do you think this was the case? Cite specific evidence from the text to support your response?

PARAGRAPHS HERE:

We were used to seeing Johnny banged up—his father clobbered him around a lot, and although it made us madder than heck, we couldn't do anything about it. But those beatings had been nothing like this. Johnny’s face was cut up and bruised and swollen, and there was a wide gash from his temple to his cheekbone. He would carry that scar all his life. His white T-shirt was splattered with blood. I just stood there, trembling with sudden cold. I thought he might be dead; surely no one could be beaten like that and live. Steve closed his eyes for a second and muffled a groan as he dropped on his knees beside Soda.

Start of paragraph 2 of 16Somehow the gang sensed what had happened. Two-Bit was suddenly there beside me, and for once his comical grin was gone and his dancing gray eyes were stormy. Darry had seen us from our porch and ran toward us, suddenly skidding to a halt. Dally was there, too, swearing under his breath, and turning away with a sick expression on his face. I wondered about it vaguely. Dally had seen people killed on the streets of New York’s West Side. Why did he look sick now?

Start of paragraph 3 of 16“Johnny?” Soda lifted him up and held him against his shoulder. He gave the limp body a slight shake. “Hey, Johnnycake.”

Start of paragraph 4 of 16Johnny didn’t open his eyes, but there came a soft question. “Soda?”

Start of paragraph 5 of 16“Yeah, it’s me,” Sodapop said. “Don’t talk. You’re gonna be okay.”

If I was an action super hero for the day, I would be BlakCrystalzz. And I would have cool powers like, Unbreakable Bones, and Night Vision, and more cool powers.

So my name is BlakCrystalzz, and I got my name because of my personality. I was as sharp as a crystal, and I could move through the night like no other. My powers are Night Vision, Unbreakable bones, and super speed.

I found out I had superpowers when I was out at the park at night, and my mom left me to use the bathroom. I was sitting on the bench and I saw a man walking toward me. I got up and walked away casually. The man started running and I started running as well. But when I started running, I felt myself going fast and the man couldn't catch up to me. That was when I figured out I had super speed. Since it was getting dark out I was starting to get scared and I found out I can see much better in the dark. I was moving so smoothly and I wasn't hesitating during the night. That was how I discovered I had powers.

The fifth story is called “Leibnitz and The Transcendence of Love in Polynesia”

Explanation:

Based on details in the poem, what can the reader infer about life in New Orleans immediately following Hurricane Katrina?

The poem: At first, there was nothing to do but watch.
For days, before the trucks arrived, before the work
of cleanup, my brother sat on the stoop and watched.
He watched the ambulances speed by, the police cars;
watched for the looters who’d come each day
to siphon gas from the car, take away the generator, the air conditioner, whatever there was to be had.
He watched his phone for a signal, watched the sky
for signs of a storm, for rain so he could wash.
10 At the church, handing out diapers and water,
he watched the people line up, watched their faces
as they watched his. And when at last there was work,
he got a job, on the beach, as a watcher.
Behind safety goggles, he watched the sand for bones,
searched for debris that clogged the great machines.
Riding the prow of the cleaners, or walking ahead,
he watched for carcasses—chickens mostly, maybe
some cats or dogs. No one said remains. No one
had to. It was a kind of faith, that watching:
my brother trained his eyes to bear
the sharp erasure of sand and glass, prayed
there’d be nothing more to see.

peoples life began to become difficult, at first we can see they were mostly cleaning up, then watchers were put ot see if they could find bodies of any kind and had to bear as some who watched the beach saw dead things turn up. basically life became difficult and made it so they had to survive from the help of people coming in trucks

Read the text Joining the Gold Rush.On February 2, 1848, the United States and Mexico signed the Treaty of Guadeloupe Hidalgo, a treaty that gave ownership of California to the United States. Unbeknownst to them, James W. Marshall had discovered flakes of gold at Sutter's Mill near Coloma, California just days earlier. Marshall shared the news with John Sutter, the owner of the mill, and the two men decided to keep the discovery a secret. Unfortunately for them, news of the golden flakes spread. Sam Brannan even walked through San Francisco with gold, proving that there was indeed gold for the taking. When the news reached the East Coast, many American citizens were skeptical. When President James K. Polk shared a report written by Colonel Richard Mason, the military governor of California, the nation learned about the huge amounts of gold available. With this official confirmation, many men decided to sell their possessions, leave their families, and go west. They had gold fever and wanted to strike it rich. Most women did not go west. Instead, they remained at home to take care of businesses and farms. Many American prospectors chose to join the gold rush by sailing around Cape Horn or traveling overland along the Oregon-California Trail.Sailing Around Cape Horna map of the world with ships starting at the East Coast of the United States, traveling around South America, and ending on the West Coast of the Unites StatesMany people living on the East Coast chose to sail around the bottom tip of South America, past Cape Horn. Passengers purchased their fare for between 500 and 1000 dollars or more. The trip was long and could take five to seven months. Many passengers suffered from seasickness and boredom. Stormy weather sometimes sank ships. Cape Horn was infamous for its strong currents and unpredictable winds. Despite these dangers, over a third of fortune hunters chose to travel by ocean.Traveling Along the OregonCalifornia Traila map of the United States showing the Oregon Trail showing pioneers, a covered wagon, and a horse approaching the Rocky MountainsThose living in America's West chose to travel more than 2,000 miles overland along the Oregon-California Trail. For four to six months, oxen pulled the covered wagons filled with possessions along the bumpy trail. Prospectors walked beside the wagons or rode on horses. Wagons traveled together in groups called wagon trains. At night, the wagons made a circle to provide protection for the animals. Travelers cooked over fires and slept in the wagons or outside under the stars. These adventurers faced a lack of fresh drinking water, which led to outbreaks of cholera and typhoid. The journey to California led prospectors through formidable landscapes, including swift rivers, dusty plains, and dry deserts. Treacherous weather hit adventurers with lightning, hailstorms, and floods. Finally, as Native Americans watched an increasing number of people encroach upon their lands, they began to attack. However, these prospectors persevered and arrived in California.Regardless of their methods, over 300,000 adventurers joined the gold rush and arrived in California. Their contributions led to the creation of the state and shaped the city of San Francisco, which is built on abandoned gold rush ships. What were two ways that people reached California during the Gold Rush? Sedimentary rock is the second category. These rocks cover most of Earths land. Sedimentary rocks are made of pieces of other rocks and shells. Erosion causes rocks to slowly wear away. Erosion can be caused by rain, wind, freezing, and plant roots. Sometimes small pieces of rock are made because of erosion. The small pieces of rock are called sediment. Rivers take sediment to oceans and lakes. The river drops the sediments as it slows down. The sediments settle to the bottom in layers. More and more layers of sediment are dropped over millions of years. The weight from the top layers turns the bottom layers of sediments into rock. This makes some sedimentary rocks look layered.
