Nicholas’s Diary: April 2 and 3 Friday, April 2 Well, it’s only 10 more hours until my father and I leave for our treasure hunt. Every Saturday morning for as long as I can remember I have seen him leave, always by himself, to look for treasure. I have always longed to go with him, and he’s always told me that someday I would get the chance. I was so excited when he told me I would finally have my chance that I was bouncing off the walls like a rubber ball and springing from one place to the next the rest of the day. He has always been as quiet as a mouse about the treasure that he finds, scurrying away with his equipment in the morning and piling up his treasure in his study. Even though he says he always comes home with something, he has never shown it to me or even told me what type of treasure it is. Is it gold, or silver, or maybe it’s precious jewels? Whatever it is, tomorrow I will find out, and hopefully he’ll let me bring some to class so that I can show my friends since I’ve been bragging about it to them ever since Dad told me I could go! Saturday, April 3 The treasure hunt was fun, but it was not what I expected. Dad and I left early in the morning and headed for the same woods that we sometimes go hiking in on Sundays. I never would have thought they hold treasure, but what was really odd was when Dad told me to leave the shovels at home because we wouldn’t need them. But what he did bring with him was a bright yellow GPS . I had seen it in his truck many times before. I always wondered what he did with it. Today I found out. Dad and I wandered into the woods, first staying on the hiking path I had taken several times before and then veering off the path. The forest was like a statue; it was still and covered in damp moss and dead leaves; it didn't even seem alive. It appeared that no one had been there for a long time so I knew that this treasure must be old and far under the ground. How were we going to get to it without shovels? As Dad kept his eyes on the GPS , I looked around, and suddenly I noticed a patch of leaves that was disturbed and a log that looked like it had been moved. When I asked Dad about it, his eyes lit up, and he said he saw the treasure. He reached under the log and pulled out a plastic box with a label that read “Official Geocache.” I didn’t know what an official geocache was, but I soon found out when Dad opened it. Inside was a little notebook and a bunch of small items like a set of dice, a toy car, and a large silver dollar. Dad said that he thought the toy car was cool, so he took it out and put it in his pocket and then pulled a golf ball from his other pocket and put it in the box. He wrote his name and my name in the little notebook and then closed the box and put it back where he found it. Geocaching, which is what Dad later told me this type of treasure hunting is called, was much different than digging for gold in the ground. But I thought it was fun, and I hope Dad takes me again next Saturday.

Part A In "Nicholas's Diary: April 2 and 3," what does Nicolas think of the treasure his father hunts for?

It will be more valuable than finding gold or silver.

It's not the kind of treasure he expected it to be.

It requires everyday equipment in order to locate it.

It will be carefully hidden and buried underground.

Part B Which sentence from the text best supports the answer in Part A?

“…I noticed a patch of leaves that was disturbed and a log that looked like it had been moved.”

“What he did bring with him was a bright yellow GPS I had seen in his truck many times before. I always wondered what he did with it.”

"He has always been as quiet as a mouse about the treasure that he finds, scurrying away with his equipment…"

why is it not the best to have long term goals for getting your dream job - i need 3 reasons each reason having a paragraph. PLEASEEEEEE ASAPPPPPP

Answers

1. You might not have the right Training or degrees for your dream job

In many cases for people the job they want when they think they qualify or have the certain training or degrees for it sometimes get told they are under qualified or Overqualified for the job they want which is heard often for some people

The job they want cost too much to get the training they need for it

For people money is a big problem and most people think of becoming lawyers , doctors or any big job that costs a lot of money and time which many people do not have. Law school as an example costs $67,081 at Harvard , yes the price could be changed depending on the school but the amounts are usually very high for just 1 year and since you need 7 full years of school to become a lawyer it will cost a lot of money and will end up putting you into debt.

3. The competition

Because there’s so many different fields in specific jobs you might find yourself not able to do certain jobs because of how many people are in the same field as you, Lawyers also as an example have a very big field since it’s a popular job but it also means that it has a big field full of a lot of competition that want the same job as you , not many people have the qualifications for certain jobs.

4. The pressure & commitment

Since you are spending a lot of money and time there’s a lot of pressure for you to do well in school to get the certain job you want. Depending on how well you do during college for your certain degrees you always have to push yourself to achieve good results for the job you want in the future which for some people is hard to do.

Write a letter to the editor of a national newspaper in your country, explaining at least three reasons why discipline has fallen in today's world compared to the past

Answer:

The Editor,

The Mirror Newspaper,

16 November,2020.

Dear Editor,

I Michel is writing to contribute to the last week's topic published on your newspaper on why discipline has fallen in today's world compared to the past.

Firstly, I would say that the slow judgement system is part of the reason. Unlike in the past were undisciplined people are swiftly dealt with thereby restoring order, currently such is no longer obtainable. Example is flogging that was banned in all school.

Secondly, the rise of social media is a contributory factor. People are afraid of being crucified on the alter of social media for trying to enforce discipline on erring people. The would rather overlook it than to be labelled to harsh.

Lastly, the issue of politically correct movements. Previously, discipline is enforced in the highest order including the carrying of capital punishment where necessary but is no longer up tenable do to various politically correct movements that would rather have things their way rather than disciplinary actions which they consider archaic to be enforced.

I believe, some of these are part of the reason why discipline has fallen in today's world compared to the past.

Sincerely yours,

Michel

It is abstract. Joy is a feeling/emotion. Feelings and emotions are abstract nouns and are not tangible items.

Which selection best supports the central idea that getting involved with politics can be a fun and rewarding way to make a difference in your community?

If you want to make a difference in your community, one option to consider is running for office. Most cities and towns have many elected positions, from school board to city council to mayor, and any citizen over 18 years old can run. Once you're elected, you'll have the opportunity to help solve problems and make decisions to improve people's lives. Plus, you can consider running for higher offices, like state representative, governor, or even president!

Of course, getting elected is usually not easy. Even local positions are highly competitive, and you'll need to be organized and hardworking to run a successful political campaign. Before you run, you should be prepared to raise money, give speeches, and have a well-thought-out plan about what you want to accomplish once elected. But the most important thing you can do is to get to know as many people as you can in your community, because your friends and neighbors may well become your greatest supporters.

Answer:

B.  But the most important thing you can do is to get to know as many people as you can in your community, because your friends and neighbors may well become your greatest supporters.

Explanation:

The selection that best supports the central idea that getting involved with politics can be a fun and rewarding way to make a difference in your community is selection B. In this passage, meeting new people is mentioned. Friends are something we associate with fun, and running for office with their support could be an interesting experience.

The rest of the options lack this element of fun. They simply mention improving people's lives, different positions you can run for, and how hard you should work in order to run a successful political campaign. This is why option B is the correct one.

What does this section reveal about the character Huck's perspective on education?
He feels that a good education is necessary for his happiness.
O He believes that education is valuable because

O He only values education when it provides relevant, useful information
He doesn't think that lessons should include religious figures.

Answers

D.  He only values education when it provides relevant, useful information

He doesn't think that lessons should include religious figures.

This is the answer because it says he was in a sweat to find out all about him meaning he was really interested in learning all about him but the section also says I then did not care anymore about him because he was dead so I think it makes the most sense to pick D.

The given section of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn infers that Huck was less interested in religious figures and only values education when it provides relevant information. Therefore, (D) is the correct option.

What is Education?

Education is an institution through which society imparts knowledge about relevant things to its members in order to make them prepared for employment and also it helps them to lead a meaningful life.

Huck feels that religious figures should not be included in the lessons and there should be only relevant lessons. Therefore, (D) is the correct option.

If you believe in evolution by natural selection, how can you believe that feelings suddenly appeared, out of the blue, with human beings?

I hope this is not a real question you have to answer for school. If so, respond how you see best. If there is a “right answer” for this question, I don’t know it. But if it’s up to you, and you want my educated answer, I would say this.

Evolution by natural selection is purely impossible. Without bias, it is impossible. In order for a painting to appear, there must be a painter. In order for a building to appear, there must be a builder. In order for creation to appear, there must be a creator. We didn’t happen by chance. We were creating by a creator. So feelings did not come out of the blue, they were always there, within us, because our creator made us that way.

What is a Scapegoat?

A scapegoat is a juvenile goat from a couple that is sacrificed and then released into the desert, carrying all sins and impurities with it. The idea initially appears in the Book of Leviticus, where it is said that a goat would be flung into the desert to atone for the community's crimes.

The Scapegoat Tree has an advantage over other self-balancing trees in that it doesn't require extra memory to store data about the tree in order to keep it balanced.

There is frequently a family "scapegoat" in families with a parent or caregiver who has a narcissistic personality disorder (NPD)—someone the family holds responsible for their issues in order to divert attention from actual conflicts.

For instance, a lady who has recently fought with her lover could kick her dog when she gets home for minor misbehavior. In this case, the dog is made the scapegoat and is held responsible for the argument she had with her lover
