Mia and her children went into a grocery store and where they sell apples for $2 each and mangos for $1.50 each. Mia has $20 to spend and must buy no less than 9 apples and mangos altogether. If Mia decided to buy 3 mangos, determine the maximum number of apples that she could buy. If there are no possible solutions, submit an empty answer.

Answers

Answer:

The maximum amount of apples she could buy is 7

Step-by-step explanation:

3 mangos would be 4.50 dollars. Subtract that from her current amount of money (20 dollars). You would get 15.5 dollars. Then, find how many apples she can buy with 15.5 dollars. You can't buy 8 because that would be above 15.5. So do the next smallest amount, 7.

Answer:

B.

Step-by-step explanation:

AD, the entire segment, is composed of the three segments AB, BC, and CD. In other words:

[tex]AD=AB+BC+CD[/tex]

Since AB=CD, we can substitute:

[tex]AD=CD+BC+CD\\ AD=2CD+BC[/tex]

We know that CD is 9 and BC is 5x. AD is 53. So, substitute:

[tex]53=2(9)+5x[/tex]

Solve for x:

[tex]\begin{aligned} 53&=18+5x \\ 35&=5x \\ 7&=x \end{aligned}[/tex]

The value of x is 7.

Hence, our answer is B.

b) 3390 grams

Step-by-step explanation:

3.

a)The radius of the solid cylinder = 6cm

The height of the cylinder is =20 cm

The volume = π*r²*h

The volume = 3.14 * 6²*20 =2260 cm³

b) Density of the material = 1.5 g/cm³

  Volume of the cylinder = 2261 cm³

  Mass of the cylinder = Density * Volume

  Mass of the cylinder = 1.5 * 2261 = 3390 grams

Answer: 969581/272890

A function assigns the values. The value of (f•f•f•f•f)(1) is 969581/272890.

What is a Function?

A function assigns the value of each element of one set to the other specific element of another set.

1.)

The value of f(1) for the given function f(x) =x+1/x can be calculated as shown below,

f(x) = x + 1/x

f(1) = 1 + 1/1

    = 1 + 1

    = 2

2.)

(f · f)(1) = f( f(1) )

Since the value of f(1)=2, therefore, it can be rewritten as,

(f · f)(1) = f(2)

           = 2 + 1/2

           = 4/2 + 1/2

           = 5/2

3.)

(f · f · f)(1) = f(  f(f(1)) )

Since the value of f(f(1))=5/2, therefore, it can be rewritten as,

(f · f · f)(1) = f(  (f·f)(1) )

              = f(  5/2 )

              = 5/2 + 1/(5/2)

              = 5/2 + 2/5

              = 25/10 + 4/10

              = 29/10

4.)

(f · f · f · f)(1) = f(  f(f(f(1))  )

Since the value of f(f(f(1)))=29/10, therefore, it can be rewritten as,

(f · f · f · f)(1) = f(   (f·f·f)(1)    )

                  = f( 29/10 )

                  = 29/10 + 1/(29/10)

                  = 29/10 + 10/29

                  = 841/290 + 100/290

                  = 941/290

5.)

(f · f · f · f · f)(1) = f(   f(f(f(f(1))))   )

Since the value of f(f(f(1)))=29/10, therefore, it can be rewritten as,

(f o f o f o f o f)(1) = f(   (f·f·f·f)(1)  )

                           = f(  941/290 )

                           = 941/290 + 1/(941/290)

                           = 941/290 + 290/941

                           = 885481/272890 + 84100/272890

                           = 969581/272890

Hence, the value of (f•f•f•f•f)(1) is 969581/272890.

A line passes through the point (10,9) and has a slope of 3/2. Write an equation in slope intercept form for this line

Answers

Answer:

The equation of line passing through (10,9) and having slope 3/2 is: [tex]y = \frac{3}{2}x-6[/tex]

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope intercept form of a line is given by:

[tex]y=mx+b[/tex]

We are given

Slope = m = 3/2

Point = (10,9)

Putting the value of the slope in the equation we get

[tex]y = \frac{3}{2}x+b[/tex]

b is the y-intercept. To find the y-intercept we have to put the point through which the line passes in the equation.

Putting (10,9) in the equation

[tex]9 = \frac{3}{2}(10) +b\\9 = 15+b\\b = 9-15\\b = -6[/tex]

Putting b=-6 in the equation

[tex]y = \frac{3}{2}x-6[/tex]

Hence,

The equation of line passing through (10,9) and having slope 3/2 is: [tex]y = \frac{3}{2}x-6[/tex]

Let f be a function such that f(2) ≤ f(x) for all values of x in the interval (0, 3). Does f(2) represent a relative minimum or a relative maximum?

Answers

Answer: f(2) is a relative minimum

This is because f(2) is the lowest y output for any given y = f(x) output on the interval [tex]0 < x < 3[/tex] which is what the interval notation (0,3) indicates.

Draw out a "parabolic" like shape where the lowest point occurs at (2, f(2)), where f(2) is unknown, but we at least know that x = 2. I put "parabolic" in quotes because it may not be a true parabola, but it looks like one. This lowest point only applies for the neighbor hood [tex]0 < x < 3[/tex].

Answers

Answer:

hope this helps :)

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we know how far she can walk in 1/5 (one fifth) of an hour, if we multiply this distance by 5, we will find out how far she can walking in 5/5 (five fifths) of an hour, or to be clear: in one hour.

So, 5 x 1/4 miles = 5/4 or 1.25 miles per hour

∆XYZ is an isosceles ∆. An isosceles ∆ has two equal sides, as well as the bases of the isosceles triangle are congruent. In this case, therefore:

<X = <Z

(6x - 23)° = (4x + 9)

Solve for x

6x - 23 = 4x + 9

Collect like terms

6x - 4x = 23 + 9

2x = 32

Divide both sides by 2

x = 16

m<Y = 180° - (m<X + m<Z) (sum of ∆)

m<Y = 180 - ((6x - 23) + (4x + 9))

Plug in the value of x

m<Y = 180 - ((6(16) - 23) + (4(16) + 9))

m<Y = 180 - (73 + 73)

m<Y = 34°

A 4 cups
B 3 3/4 cups
C 3 1/4 cups
D 3 1/3 cups

Answers

So since we know that 2 cups of flour gives us 3 dozens (36 cookies), we can divide both by 2 to see how much 1 cup of flour gives us. That would give us 1.5 dozens (18 cookies) for 1 cup of flour. So 3 cups of flour would make 54 cookies. Then we can divide 1 cup of flour by 3 to see how much 1/3 cup of flour would give us. 1/3 cup makes 6 cookies so 3 1/3 makes 60 cookies.

Determine what type of number the solutions are and how many exist for the equation 3x^2+7x+5=0

Answers

Answer:

Two complex (imaginary) solutions.

Step-by-step explanation:

To determine the number/type of solutions for a quadratic, we can evaluate its discriminant.

The discriminant formula for a quadratic in standard form is:

[tex]\Delta=b^2-4ac[/tex]

We have:

[tex]3x^2+7x+5[/tex]

Hence, a=3; b=7; and c=5.

Substitute the values into our formula and evaluate. Therefore:

[tex]\Delta=(7)^2-4(3)(5) \\ =49-60\\=-11[/tex]

Hence, the result is a negative value.

If:

The discriminant is negative, there are two, complex (imaginary) roots. The discriminant is 0, there is exactly one real root. The discriminant is positive, there are two, real roots.

Since our discriminant is negative, this means that for our equation, there exists two complex (imaginary) solutions.

The smallest particle in the universe?A grain of salt is small, but you can always make it smaller. Imagine cutting that grain of salt into two pieces. Now cut it again and again. Soon, you can't see the smaller pieces with your eyes, but the salt is still there. You finally cut the salt down to the very tiniest piece of salt there is. But even that tiny piece contains smaller particles. Those tiny particles are atoms. Atoms make up everything in the visible universe from galaxies to even yourself. Atoms are so incredibly small that you could line up 50 million in a row and the line would only be about 1 centimeter (less than half an inch) long. Still, scientists have found things that are smaller than atoms. And they are looking for more. If they find the smallest things in the universe, they'll better understand how the universe actually works. But it took some time before people discovered the world of the truly small. The Universe Gets Smaller Grains of sand or dust were once the smallest things actually seen on Earth. By the 1600s, several inventions opened up brand new worlds to curious minds. These included lenses that could make things look clearer and bigger. Another early invention was the microscope. Some people used the microscope to observe and write about the tiniest things they could see. In the 1670s, a Dutch lens maker named Antonie van Leeuwenhoek built himself a microscope. It magnified things more than 200 times. Van Leeuwenhoek discovered a world of tiny living things that he called tiny animals. Van Leeuwenhoek figured they were about 1/38th the size of a grain of sand. Today we know that what he saw were bacteria, the smallest living things on Earth. But atoms are much, much smaller. You can't see atoms with an ordinary microscope.And Smaller The idea that tiny, unbreakable particles make up everything that exists is more than 2000 years old. The Greek thinker Democritus called these particles "atomos." This is the Greek word for "uncuttable." Scientists didn't return to the idea of atoms until the 1800s. At first, scientists thought atoms were tiny balls with some electrical charges inside. They also thought atoms were the smallest particles that existed. But scientists soon began to wonder if atoms might be made of smaller things. In 1897, British scientist J. J. Thomson proved that they were. He ran experiments and discovered the electron. This tiny particle has a negative electrical charge and whizzes around inside the atom. A graphic showing the basic atomic structure of three elements, hydrogen, helium and oxygen. Protons, neutrons and electrons are shown.Zoom-in Different elements have different numbers of protons, neutrons, and electrons. The Smallest ThingsSo Far Scientists were soon discovering more inside the atom. Hiding in the atom's center is the tiny nucleus. (If an atom were the size of a racetrack, the nucleus would be about the size of a pea in the middle.) The nucleus contains two types of particles: protons and neutrons. Protons have a positive electrical charge while neutrons have no charge. They contain even tinier particles called quarks that are so unimaginably small that they have no internal structure. Quarks and electrons are the smallest particles found so far. Scientists call the smallest things they've found fundamental particles. Fundamental particles do not contain any smaller particles. Scientists use huge machines called particle accelerators to learn more about particles. These machines speed up particles so they can smash into each other. Then the scientists track the paths the particles leave when they hit. Scientists use accelerators to discover new particles. Many scientists wonder why there are so many particles at all. Shouldn't there be just one "smallest thing" instead of many? The search goes on for the particle that is the one true building block of everything in the universeWhich sentence from the article helps the reader to understand that the nucleus of an atom is very small?A Still, scientists have found things that are smaller than atomsB The idea that tiny, unbreakable particles make up everything that exists is more than 2,000 years oldC Hiding in the atom's center is the tiny nucleusD (If an atom were the size of a racetrack, the nucleus would be about the size of a pea in the middle.)Read the paragraph below from the section "...
