Excerpt from Acceptance
Barbara Winkler

ANTHONY: (Despondently) Everything.

STEPHANIE: (In a boisterous tone) I have something that might cheer you up!

ANTHONY: (Looks away and addresses the audience in an aside) What could possibly cheer me up? At this point, I'm a collegiate
failure. After applying to seven universities, I've been rejected by six of them. I just can't figure out where I went wrong. Yes, the
college admissions process is extremely complicated, but I thought my credentials spoke for themselves: straight-A student,
volunteers for local charitable organizations, participates in extracurricular activities, involved in the student government,
successfully juggles school with part-time employment

(With an exasperated sigh) It's so frustrating! I was so optimistic when I mailed out my applications, but now I can't help feeling
a little cynical about the entire process. Each successive rejection only accentuates my feelings of inadequacy. Most of my
friends already know which university they'll attend in the fall, and I'm still trying to reconcile the fact that I might not be going
to college next semester. I feel so disconnected from them right now-while they're mapping out their futures, reviewing the
curriculum for freshman year, and filling out roommate questionnaires, I'm still stuck in limbo. Everyone's been sympathetic and
supportive, but their reassurances offer little comfort.

Which dramatic convention BEST conveys Anthony's mood to the audience?

Why is Fox’heart named “heart” although she is arrogant and immature? I’m legit so confused- (Warrior Cats)

Answers

Answer:

The term 'foxheart' in Warriors means someone who is frightened and does not have any courage. Foxheart herself was deemed as foxkit when she was born. During her warrior ceremony, Cedarheart said "StarClan honors your energy and commitment, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ShadowClan." Cederstar noted Foxheart for her energy and commitment instead of her heart. Foxheart was arrogant and immature in the book Yellowfang's Secret because she loved Raggedstar, who didn't care about her and instead fell for Yellowfang, so Foxheart treated Yellowfang badly during then.

Foxheart is basically an insult in the Warrior Cats universe. I believe it’s the equivalent of a swear word.

Consider the counterargument (an argument or question from someone who disagrees with your opinion). What objections might be raised, and what argument can you make to answer those objections? At least one sentence in your paragraph will be a response to an objection you think your audience might have. Responding to a counterargument strengthens your own argument and particularly your practical appeal.

Write one sentence below stating a counterargument. Then write a one-sentence response to the counterargument.

Counterargument: Young people do not have job experience, so they cannot be trusted to take dogs on walks.

Response: While it is true that I may not have much professional experience, I have much experience caring for and walking my own dog.

Schools should require school uniforms.

Answers

COUNTER ARGUMENT: People are quite able of identifying the difference between a young child and an adult, so a uniform doesn't make a difference. They are also very boring.

RESPONSE: Some people are more developed in there younger years so appear more mature and older than they are. Yes uniform can be boring however it's there to keep you safe and not for your enjoyment.

When visitors enter, there's so much to do:
Go out on the balcony, enjoy the view,
Or learn about nature, or purchase a snack,

Explanation:

The position of the earth, moon, and sun during a new moon is that the moon is between the sun and the earth.

New moon is a moon phase that happens when the moon is in between the earth and the sun. This implies that the side of the moon that faces the earth is not illuminated by sunlight and appears dark. This stage marks the start of the lunar cycle and is the darkest and least noticeable stage of the cycle.

The new moon is the primary lunar stage, when the Moon and Sun have a similar ecliptic longitude. The lunar disk cannot be seen with the eye during this phase, with the exception of when it is silhouetted against the Sun during a solar eclipse.

According to a Czechoslovakian proverb, “Better to lie that soothes than a truth that hurts.” Agree or disagree? Explain.

Answers

Answer:

Personally, I disagree with that statement entirely. Just because the "truth hurts" does not mean you should go and tell others what you think they want to hear. It gives off a bad influence. There is no real communication without the truth. It will present you as a dishonest person and it affects whoever you tell. Its best to tell the truth, even if it hurts.

Explanation:

Answer:

It is completely up to the situation

Explanation:

Sometimes you have to lie, and if you don't there can be terrible consequences. But at the same time, sometimes you can't lie, even if the lie is so much better than the truth. You have to look at the consequences of the action you choose to take. How will it make others feel? Will they find out if you lied or not? How can this effect what actions they take? After you properly consider it, you then have to choose whether lying would be the good or bad thing to do.
