does this sound like a good introduction paragraph to an informational article about Komodo Dragons?

Did you know that dragons do exist? These supposed “Dragons” are actually 10ft long 150-pound lizards, and that makes them the biggest lizards on the planet! These massive lizards are called Komodo dragons, and interestingly, according to ‘Giant Lizards of Indonesia‘ by R.A. Wallami, “…a picture of this giant lizard—the Komodo dragon—inspired the maker of the movie Godzilla to create the story of a giant-sized lizard gone wild.” But as majestic and cool as they sound, they are actually a problem for the villagers of the Island that they live on, Komodo Island in Indonesia. From attacking villagers and stealing livestock, these lizards are mean and aggressive creatures. In attempts to fix these problems, the Nature Conservancy enacted laws that were supposed to stop the problems. However, this only made the problem worse, as one law they enacted for example was to “…ban all non-native animals from the island”, According to ‘Giant Lizards of Indonesia‘ by R.A. Wallami, and this law included the popular pet dogs. Without dogs on the island, there were no animals discouraging the dragons to enter the village. Another law the Nature Conservancy created was to not allow the villagers to feed the dragons. Before this law was in place, the villagers fed the dragons which caused the dragons to not enter the village looking for food. Now with this law, the village is constantly invaded by these ravenous lizards. To make matters worse, the Nature Conservancy does not seem to be listening to the villagers concerns. They should not ignore the villagers of the Island because the villagers do not feel safe from these dangerous predators.

Which statement best explains how the setting affects the plot of this story?

Answers

Answer:

The scenario represents a completely new environment for the character, making his inexperience in this environment cause difficulties that move the storyline, while the character needs to solve them.

Explanation:

As you can see by reading the text, the scenario is a completely new place for the character, Rosie. This means that she is a foreigner and like any foreigner she will have difficulties adapting, will face prejudice and even miss her previous home, but she will also have achievements. In this case, we can affirm that the experiences that she will have are totally related to the scenario and that will move the whole plot of the story.

How is the story of the flood in the epic of gilgamesh similar to the flood story from the bible

Answers

Answer:

The story of the flood can be found in many ancient nations' mythology. Here will be given some of the striking similarities between versions of this story from The Epic of Gilgamesh and from The Bible.

Firstly, the flood was sent as a punishment for people's sins and misbehavior. One man was informed about the disaster; in The Bible it was Noah, in the Gilgamesh it was Utnapishtim. Both men built an ark containing many compartments and only one door. All animal species were brought on the boat. Although the flood didn't last the same amount of time in the two stories, its consequences were the same: the water covered the ground and the ark passengers were the only ones left alive.

Also, both boats landed on a mountain peak and both protagonists sent birds to check for nearby land.

Finally, both man offered sacrifice after the flood was over.

Of course, these are only some of the biggest similarities between the two stories. After more careful reading of the stories, one will surely be able to find few similarities more.

I hope this helped.

Read this excerpt from Immigrant Kids, by Russell Freedman. Edward Corsi, who later became United States Commissioner of Immigration, was a ten-year-old Italian immigrant when he sailed into New York harbor in 1907: My first impressions of the New World will always remain etched in my memory, particularly that hazy October morning when I first saw Ellis Island. The steamer Florida, fourteen days out of Naples, filled to capacity with 1600 natives of Italy, had weathered one of the worst storms in our captain's memory; and glad we were, both children and grown-ups, to leave the open sea and come at last through the Narrows into the Bay. My mother, my stepfather, my brother Giuseppe, and my two sisters, Liberta and Helvetia, all of us together, happy that we had come through the storm safely, clustered on the foredeck for fear of separation and looked with wonder on this miraculous land of our dreams. This is more evident in the passage "My mother, my stepfather, my brother Giuseppe, and my two sisters, Liberta and Helvetia, all of us together, happy that we had come through the storm safely, clustered on the foredeck for fear of separation and looked with wonder on this miraculous land of our dreams. Which is the best critique explaining why Henrique should revise the paraphrase?

Answers

Answer:

option B. The best critique to explain why  Henrique should revise the paragraph is that he needs to add some descriptive language to make the story come alive. In literature a commonly used device is the one of descriptive language. Basically, descriptive language is used to create a picture of the scene/character in the reader's mind. Henrique's story is laying the order of events in a logical order but it is lacking the descriptive language that will give details to those events, making the reader to engage with the story line.

Hope this helps!

Explanation:

The most persuasive argument for why Henrique should change the paragraph is that he has to use more descriptive language to bring the narrative to life. A literary method that is frequently employed is descriptive language. Fundamentally, the purpose of descriptive language is to let the reader visualize the scenario or character in their minds. Henrique's account presents the sequence of events in a logical order, but it is devoid of the descriptive language that would provide specifics to those occurrences and encourage the reader to become involved in the plot.
