3. What is the key point Gladwell makes in the paragraph beginning, “Some of this
grandiosity is to be expected” (para. 9)? How does he connect his statement
“Innovators tend to be solipsists” with the assertion that ends the paragraph, that
"we seem to have forgotten what activism is."

Answers

The key point he makes is that the mainstream media is more concerned with getting attention than reporting the seriousness of issues. He starts this with the fact that these American media present all kinds of news from an American perspective, forgetting that there are other perspectives that must be portrayed if activism is to actually be promoted by the media.

We can arrive at this answer because:

The author uses the word "solipsists" to refer to the mainstream American news media. This word refers to people who only see their own perspectives, as if the whole world revolves around them, not caring about how each situation affects other people. The author associates this word with the American media to highlight its role in making news about international problems circulate in all of America.

The author reinforces the idea that this does not help in solving world problems, does not promote effective activism, but reinforces attention to the American media and places America as the protagonist of an issue that does not belong to it.

After finishing the job they were submitted to, Elie and his father are sad, discouraged with anger and without faith in God. The situation they are in is so agonizing, that they for the first time agree that they are suffering and understand each other's difficulties, something that had never happened before.

In this book, Elie portrays violence, forced labor, fear and lack of faith, in addition to reflecting on themes such as abandoning divine beliefs, feeling of disgust and family relationships.

Can I please get a summary of the full book “Night” by Elie Wiesel .. without giving away the end of the book.

Answers

The book “Night” is about a man who survived the holocaust. He lost a lot due to this. He almost died multiple times in the story and he is telling his story and experience of being in the holocaust. All the things he saw such as babies dying, kids being tortured, not being able to use a real bathroom, people he loved getting beat just for asking where a bathroom was. Elie talks about the horrific incidents that happened during a holocaust. At the beginning he talks about how he had a normal life, then he progresses into how the nazis started the holocaust and stuff and how the treatment to the jews slowly got worse and caused the death of millions. Elie is trying to give a perspective of what happened so that this will never happen again in the future.

"Night" by Elie Wiesel, is sort of like a diary of Wiesel, which recounts his life story, especially leading up to and during the Holocaust.

The first major part of the book occurs when they are displaced into small organized communities that comprised only of undesirables and Jews, and were typically overcrowded, dirty, and under constant surveillance by the Nazis.

The second major part is the separation of the females from the males before they board the trains to the concentration camps. In here Wiesel writes that it was the last he sees of his female counterpart family members. He is left with only his father.

The third major part of the story comprises of his recount of life in the work camp. They were always constantly harassed with the hanging threat of death camps, beaten, starved, etc. Typically, a thin type of soup was poured out to them, as well as what is termed as black bread. The amount given to them decreased throughout the years.

The fourth major part is the retreat of the Nazi forces, which prompted the dismantling of certain camps towards Germany. Wiesel recounts the treacherous march, in which those who fell behind were shot to death. During this time period, he also loses his dad, as his dad became extremely tired and sick.

The last part recounts his wish that he treated his father better during his last days. It also brought to life his experience with the US army, which showed up soon with the Red Cross. At the end, it describes his nightmare of his father's pleading eyes, wishing that he has stayed with him in his dying last breath.

Why would politicians be okay with people living on the street as long as they stay out of sight?

Help me plz

Answers

Answer:

Because they are politicians. They would do anything to make themselves look better in the eye of the public. If that means hiding the people with struggles, then so be it. If the homeless were seen, then the politician would have to work on fixing that problem. So to them, it's better to hide it than work on it.
