Answer 1

B. That the military could be used to suppress violent reactions to  state or federal laws.

Explanation:

The federal response to the Whiskey Rebellion showed how different the national government was from under the Articles of Confederation to the current national government that was under the United States Constitution. The national government under the Articles of Confederation proved to be very weak. They could not do a lot of things, one of them was not being able to stop confrontations and violent reactions from happening.

Shay's Rebellion was one of these, which really showed a lot of people how weak the national government was. Shay's Rebellion was where angry farmers revolted because they did not want their land to be taken away by the government. The national government did not have the power to stop these people, as they didn't even have the money to send troops to stop them, due to the fact they did not have the power to tax.

With the new national government under the United States Constitution, things were very different. The Whiskey Rebellion started when a tax was put on whiskey. Hamilton thought this was a good idea, as it would raise money for the national government and could control the drinking habits of Americans. Many people disagreed with this though and many angry Americans started a rebellion.

President Washington sent troops immediately to squash the rebellion, which was very effective. The rebellion was shut down quickly and just showed how much power the national government had now. They could easily use their military to suppress violent reactions and help protect the country, unlike before.

I NEED HELP ASAP!! I need a Greek religion paragraph for my history document.

Answers

Answer:

In the ancient Greek world, religion was personal, direct, and present in all areas of life. With formal rituals which included animal sacrifices and libations, myths to explain the origins of mankind and give the gods a human face, temples which dominated the urban landscape, city festivals and national sporting and artistic competitions, religion was never far from the mind of an ancient Greek. Whilst the individual may have made up their own mind on the degree of their religious belief and some may have been completely sceptical, certain fundamentals must have been sufficiently widespread in order for Greek government and society to function: the gods existed, they could influence human affairs, and they welcomed and responded to acts of piety and worship.

The Olympian Gods

Polytheistic Greek religion encompassed a myriad of gods, each representing a certain facet of the human condition, and even abstract ideas such as justice and wisdom could have their own personification. The most important gods, though, were the Olympian gods led by Zeus:

Zeus

Athena

Apollo

Poseidon

Hermes

Hera

Aphrodite

Demeter

Ares

Answer:Texas has a long history of immigration, with the majority of immigrants hailing from Mexico. Immigrants now account for one-sixth of the state’s total population and support the local economy in a growing number of industries. Construction—one of the state’s largest and fastest growing industries—relies on immigrants for more than a third of its workers. As neighbors, business owners, taxpayers, and workers, immigrants are an integral part of Texas’s diverse and thriving communities and make extensive contributions that benefit all.

One in six Texas residents is an immigrant, while another one in six residents is a native-born U.S. citizen with at least one immigrant parent.

In 2018, 4.9 million immigrants (foreign-born individuals) comprised 17 percent of the population.

Texas was home to 2.3 million women, 2.3 million men, and 319,331 children who were immigrants.

The top countries of origin for immigrants were Mexico (51 percent of immigrants), India (6 percent), El Salvador (5 percent), Vietnam (4 percent), and Honduras (3 percent).

In 2018, 4.5 million people in Texas (16 percent of the state’s population) were native-born Americans who had at least one immigrant parent.

More than one-third of all immigrants in Texas are naturalized U.S. citizens.

1.9 million immigrants (38 percent) had naturalized as of 2018, and 957,647 immigrants were eligible to become naturalized U.S. citizens in 2017.

Two-thirds (66 percent) of immigrants reported speaking English “well” or “very well.”

Immigrants in Texas are concentrated at either end of the educational spectrum.

More than a quarter (26 percent) of adult immigrants had a college degree or more education in 2018, while over a third (37 percent) had less than a high school diploma.

I NEED HELP ASAP!! I need a paragraph on Greek literature for my word document.

Answers

Greek literature was an interesting spoken language. Greek literature was divided into distinct periods , Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic. Some things about Archaic was it was an earliest texts until the time of the Byzantine Empire. During the Archaic period, the poets' works were spoken - an outcome of an oral tradition - delivered at festivals. A product of Greece's Dark Ages, Homer's epic the Iliad centered on the last days of the Trojan War, a war initiated by the love of a beautiful women. Some things about classical literature was oral recitation of poetry, as well as lyric poetry, morphed into drama. The purpose of drama was to not only entertain but also to educate the Greek citizen, to explore a problem. Plays were performed in outdoor theaters and were usually part of a religious festival. Along with a chorus of singers to explain the action, there were actors, often three, who wore masks. Of the known Greek tragedians. Last but not least Hellenistic period , The Hellenistic period produced its share of poets, prose writers, and historians. Among them were Callimachus, his student Theocritus, Apollonius Rhodius, and the highly respected historian Plutarch. Unfortunately, like the previous eras, much of what was written remains only in fragments or quoted in the works of others. The poet Callimachus (310 – 240 BCE) was originally from Cyrene but migrated to Egypt and spent most of his life in Alexandria, serving as a librarian under both Ptolemy II and III. Of his over 800 books, 6 hymns, and 60 epigrams, only fragments remain. These were all important and interesting because not only they were interesting yet those were how people talked , sang , and poet ways to show talent and to show peace because it made people happy that they sang and made up poets and show how they talked throughout them periods. That sums up all how the Greek literature was very interesting and important

Excerpt is taken from The Historic Rise of Old Hickory by Suzanne B. Williams

Four major candidates ran in the 1824 election, all under the "Democratic-Republican" name. One of the candidates, Andrew Jackson, was already famous. In the 1780s, he earned the right to practice law and served in various offices of the state government, including senator. He earned the nickname "Old Hickory" for his toughness as a general during the War of 1812 and First Seminole War. Jackson supported slavery and "Indian removal." This earned him support from voters in southern and frontier states. The other three candidates were John Quincy Adams of Massachusetts, Henry Clay of Kentucky, and William Crawford of Georgia.

U.S. presidents are elected through the Electoral College. The Founding Fathers worried that Americans were too spread out to learn enough about the candidates. Under the Electoral College, Americans cast their ballot for the popular vote, which chooses the electors for each state. The number of electoral votes in each state equals the number of representatives and senators combined. The candidates must win an absolute majority of electoral votes to win the election.

In 1824, Andrew Jackson won the popular vote, but he did not win it in each state. Jackson and Adams both won many electoral votes. Jackson won the most with 99. However, a candidate needs an absolute majority of electoral votes to win. In 1824, Jackson needed 131 to win. When there is no majority winner, the election goes to the House of Representatives. This has only happened twice in U.S. history.

Even though he won the popular vote and many electoral votes, Andrew Jackson lost the presidency in 1824. John Quincy Adams was the Secretary of State at this time. Henry Clay was the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Henry Clay, receiving the least, was left out. However, as a leader in the House of Representatives, he had influence over the other members. Clay openly hated Jackson and there were rumors that Clay made a deal with Adams in exchange for his support. The House election declared John Quincy Adams president. Soon, he chose Henry Clay to fill the seat he left vacant, Secretary of State. Jackson was shocked and enraged. Although there was no inquiry of possible wrongdoing, Jackson accused Adams and Clay of making a "corrupt bargain."

John Quincy Adams was a disappointment as president. Many of his goals created divisions like federal funds for internal improvement. Some states though that taking federal funds would force them to follow certain rules. They felt this reduced their rights as independent states. Jackson took advantage of issues like this one to gather more support. More Jackson supporters found their way to seats in Congress. He was as a man of the people and said Adams could never understand the common man’s concerns.

John Quincy Adams ran against Andrew Jackson in the 1828 election. Personal attacks grew even more vicious, but Andrew Jackson appealed to many. He believed the government was for the common man. He believed in a strict reading of the law and limited internal improvements. He also believed in states’ rights.

Andrew Jackson easily won the 1828 election, winning both the popular vote and a majority of electoral votes. Historians note the sectional nature of the voting. Support for Jackson was concentrated in the South while Adams’ support was mostly in the North. Jackson was so popular because he brought changes to the government. He also wanted to make sure the government was responsible for its actions. Jackson pushed settlement into the frontier. He supported the Indian Removal act. He also defended the spread of slavery. Though his support was heavier in the South, he was determined to keep a unified nation. The rise and presidency of Old Hickory is memorable to Americans today.

Which statement makes a true comparison of the 1824 and 1828 elections?

The losers in 1824 were the main candidates for president in 1828.
Sectional divisions were appearing in 1824 and very clear in 1828.
Candidates were more divided on the issues in 1828 than in 1824.
More people voted in the election of 1824 than they did in 1828.

But, Mother, Miss Stew needs me to You arent suggesting you stay here and help Stew instead of going to school, are you? When she said it like that, it did seem silly. ***On the outside, schools in Flint seemed a lot like schools in Gary, but they werent. Instead of having one teacher all day, in Flint we went from classroom to classroom and teacher to teacher for each subject. The teachers were different too. First, all of them were white, and second, they werent anywhere as nice as the teachers in Gary. But one of Mrs. Needhams lessons stuck: I was learning how to toughen up. I got my usual As on the tests in mathematics, geography, civics and history. After my first mathematics test, when class was dismissed, Mrs. Scott called me to her desk. Deza, have you always done so well in math? Youre the only student who got a perfect score. I sounded very humble, but the truths the truth. Yes, maam. Mathematics is one of my favorite subjects. Could you sit right there, right now, and solve these for me? Maybe Mrs. Scott was seeing if I was ready for harder work. I finished in no time. She looked them over. Hmm, perfect again, but next time you must make sure to show all your work. Youre dismissed. I was surprised that was all she said. In English class I really showed how much Id toughened up. Flint teachers dont have the imaginations that Gary teachers do, so instead of giving grades back so everyone knows what you got, they walk around the class and hand your test or paper back to you. Upside down. Mr. Smith was passing out our first essay. Id followed all of Mrs. Needhams advice. Id written it at the Flint Public Library and was very careful not to use the dictionary or the thesaurus too much. And I didnt digress at all. I made sure my posture was good, crossed my ankles and folded my hands on the desk when he got close to me. He handed me my paper and smiled. Very good job. My heart flew! Thank you, sir. I turned my paper over. Hed written, Good for you! and put a giant C+ with three exclamation points. I turned the paper back over. Maybe I saw it wrong. I looked again but it was the same. One sign that I had toughened up was that instead of crying I thought of a little joke that Jimmie said he did whenever he didnt like his grade. I turn the paper over, then, the same way people bang on a machine it if aint acting right, I smack my hand on the paper. Maybe if I bang it hard enough my grade will jump up a mark! It was nonsense, but I slapped my hand on Mr. Smiths essay. I turned the paper back over and smiled. Id have to tell Jimmie that it still wasnt working. Mrs. Needham wouldve been proud. Instead of bawling, I looked at Mr. Smiths back and said to myself, OK, buster, Im going to make sure my next essay is the best thing Ive ever written. You wont have any choice but to give me my A plus. When me and Loretta were walking back to camp I asked, What grade did you get on your essay? I dont know, the same old D. Whatd you get? C plus.
