Why is Peyton Farquhar easily tricked by a Federal Scout? What is it about his character, his dreams, and his background, that makes him susceptible to trickery?

Answers

Answer 1

Answer and Explanation:

Peyton Farquhar is the main character in the short story "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge", by Ambrose Bierce. Farquhar, a supporter of the Confederacy, is tricked into trying to burn a bridge through which Union troops would cross.

The reason why Farquhar is so easily tricked lies in his own nature. He is a romantic, a man who believes in acts of heroism, in sacrificing himself for a person or a cause. He gets excited by the possibility of tampering with the bridge:

"Suppose a man - a civilian and a student of hanging - should elude the picket post and perhaps get the better of the sentinel," said Farquhar smiling, "what could he accomplish?"

Notice that he is smiling while he comes up with a plan to burn the bridge. He is already picturing himself doing it, at this moment not even taking into consideration that he is putting himself in danger. He is so excited by the idea of being the hero that he forgets he has a lot to lose, and that he has a wife who will certainly suffer if he gets caught and hanged. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happens. Farquhar gets to sacrifice himself for his cause, but without any success with his plan.

In approximately 100 words, describe the cause and effect relationships among events in act II.

Answers

Answer:

Following are the solution to the given question:

Explanation:

Act II of Arthur Miller's Crucible becomes composed of interconnected incidents or one event that often causes one, throughout this event, you could see that the partnership between Elizabeth or Elizabeth Proctor is strained due to Abigail's affair. In this play, we can now see the event in the order they occur.

John points out that witch hunts are full: Laura is the lead prosecutor and 14 individuals are imprisoned wants people John to tell her everything he knows and therefore can grasp how.

Investigation revealed he could say that if he was all alone Abigail, but he has to confess that he told him they're all only false to avoid problems. Its inability of Proctor to inform Elizabeth he was alone with Abigail triggers further debate on crimes already committed but forgiven.

Lady Macbeth comes home, hands Elizabeth a petal, and seems to be angry that 39 women are also in jail accused of witchcraft. Mary reveals she is jailed because Mrs. Putnam can not say the Holy Quran.

The Invigilators do not want Mary to return, but they overlap how she has saved Angelina's life in court tomorrow, and Elizabeth says, "She wishes my dead, John... your know that," Anne can't tell who charged Elizabeth.

He recognizes it. He will Hale arrives, nervous that perhaps the title of Rebecca Nurse is "mentioned". Hale questioned Prospero about low attendance at his church; John told him the truth.

Hawthorne asks Prospero to recite their 10 Commandments; he tends to forget one precept, one precept, and he helps Emily, Hale's told Prospero Abigail's gone. The spouses were detained and Giles and Joseph Norse arrived. Hawthorne is troubled. Hawthorne is disturbed. Elijah Cheever goes to Emma to ask if she has any poppy; Anne gives her the one she's got for Mary.

Answer: Act II of Miller's "The Crucible" has many connected incidents that keep the story moving. You could see that the partnership between Elizabeth and Abigail is strained due to Abigail's affair. More events are connected and wouldn't happen if the previous event hadn't happened. It's all confusing, but one example is when the investigation revealed connections to Abigail. Her being the center of this would only make sense if she were all alone, and she was alone - with Proctor. By refusing to admit their affair, Abigail is at risk of being hanged due to accusations of being a witch. There are more characters that we are introduced to later on, such as Anne towards the end of the story, and they also are connected to previous events.

What does I Dream a World story represents?

The meaning of 'I Dream a World' is that the ideal world is one in which all individuals partake in the same opportunities and delights, and racism is actually defeated.

All through this sonnet, Hughes engages with subjects of opportunity and happiness. The writer investigates the future and envisions an utopian version of his world. There, people don't battle against ravenousness, avarice, or racism. All individuals are free. It is this opportunity that ought to be the concentration and goal of anyone trying to better the world. With it comes satisfaction, something that's going to be hard to achieve yet merits seeking.

'I Dream a World' by Langston Hughes is a sixteen-line sonnet that is contained within a single stanza of text. The sonnet follows a specific rhyme plan of ABCB, changing end sounds as the lines progress. There is an example of an ideal rhyme with "earth" at the closures of lines three and eleven. Regarding the meter, the vast majority of the sonnet is basically and actually written in iambic which gradually means that the lines contain three arrangements of two beats, the first is unstressed and the second is worried.

Therefore Option(d) is correct.
