History and theory of bigfoot.
decent answer please no links I have a slide presentation in a hour please help!

Answers

Answer:

In 1958, journalist Andrew Genzoli of the Humboldt Times highlighted a fun, if dubious, letter from a reader about loggers in northern California who’d discovered mysteriously large footprints. “Maybe we have a relative of the Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas,” Genzoli jokingly wrote in his September 21 column alongside the letter.

Explanation:

Later, Genzoli said that he’d simply thought the mysterious footprints “made a good Sunday morning story.” But to his surprise, it really fascinated readers. In response, Genzoli and fellow Humboldt Times journalist Betty Allen published follow-up articles about the footprints, reporting the name loggers had given to the so-called creature who left the tracks—“Big Foot.” And so a legend was born.

“There are various wild man myths from all over the world,” says Joshua Blu Buhs, author of Bigfoot: The Life and Times of a Legend. In western Canada, the Sts’ailes First Nation have the “Sasq’ets,” the supposed origin of the word “Sasquatch.” However, the modern U.S. concept of bigfoot can be traced quite directly to the Humboldt Times stories in 1958.

“People later go back and dig through old newspapers and stuff and find scattered reports of a wild man here, a wild man there,” he says. “But it doesn’t coalesce into a general discussion until the ‘50s.”

Even though loggers blamed acts of vandalism on Bigfoot, Allen thought that most of them didn’t really believe in the creature. It seemed to her that they were just passing along stories with a “legendary flavor.” Still, the story spread to newspapers all over the country, and the TV show Truth or Consequences offered $1,000 to anyone who could prove the existence of Bigfoot.“Who is making the huge 16-inch tracks in the vicinity of Bluff Creek?” Genzoli wrote in one of his columns that October. “Are the tracks a human hoax? Or, are they the actual marks of a huge but harmless wild-man, traveling through the wilderness? Can this be some legendary sized animal?”

Once Bigfoot’s story went public, it became a character in men’s adventure magazines and cheap trade paperback novels. In these stories, he—for Bigfoot was definitely a “he”—was a primal, dangerous creature out of the past who lurked in the modern wilderness. By the 1970s, pseudo-documentaries were investigating his existence and films were portraying him as a sexual predator.

In the ‘80s, Bigfoot showed his softer side. He became “associated with environmentalism, and a symbol of the wilderness that we need to preserve,” Buhs says. One big example is the 1987 movie Harry and the Hendersons, which portrayed Bigfoot as a friendly, misunderstood creature in need of protection from John Lithgow and his family. So why has the Bigfoot legend persisted for 60 years? “It takes on its own momentum because it is a media icon,” Buh suggests.

Just as no one really needs to explain that characters who turn into wolves during a full moon are werewolves, no one needs to explain who a hairy man-ape walking out of the woods would be. “It’s just something that’s easy to refer to,” Buh says. That would be Bigfoot.

HELP! Will give brainliest. Considering the last 400 years of history, was the Columbian Exchange mostly positive or negative for Europe and for the Americas, and why? Use evidence to support your answer.

Answers

Though there were positive effects, the Columbian Exchange had a long-lasting negative impact. Considerably, the Colombian Exchange was an exchange of guns, germs, gold, and (religious) glory.
For generations, Christopher Columbus was considered a hero of American history. He and the European explorers that followed were credited with bringing civilization to a new land. Their discoveries provided a way for Europeans to leave the continent and make new lives for themselves. While the explorers were on a quest for gold and riches, they also sought to spread Christianity and European ideals. In their view, the peoples they encountered in the New World were uncivilized and ignorant. They brought European ideas and Western religion to the continent, leading to a mixing of cultures.
Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the Americas facilitated the exchange of plants, animals and new diseases.
Europeans did bring new technologies and animals such as horses, cattle, sheep, and goats. However, those improvements came at a high price. The conquistadors (Spanish invaders) destroyed religious temples, and they killed those who refused to convert. Guns traded to indigenous peoples also increased the death toll among tribes fighting amongst one another, especially in North America.
More than guns, the most devastating result of the Columbian Exchange was the spread of disease. In the years following European invasion, it is estimated that up to 95 percent of the Americas’ total population died. That’s approximately 19 million people. The native population was almost wiped out. The main cause of death was disease, such as smallpox. These diseases did not exist in the New World prior to the European’s arrival. Because the native peoples had no natural immunity, they became sick. Europeans were less affected by disease outbreaks because they had been exposed to the germs before when they worked with domesticated animals. There was also little understanding of disease and how to contain outbreaks. As a result, these diseases spread rapidly. Also, since there was very little understanding of disease, the Europeans thought the native peoples were weak and sickly. Huge numbers of the native populations were wiped out from diseases, which led to a big shortage of labor. In addition, native people knew the land and could often escape if they were forced to work. Europeans quickly realized that they could not build a workforce out of the native peoples. The Europeans needed manual labor for the agricultural enterprises they set up, so they turned to the African slave trade. Beginning in the 1500s, thousands upon thousands of enslaved Africans were shipped to the continent.
In fact, the majority of enslaved Africans ended up in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America (ultimately almost 12 million). Approximately 500,000 were shipped to North America. Current economic hardships and social injustices today can still be traced back to the period of European domination. For example, native populations all over the North American continent struggle with issues of poverty and lack of opportunities. While there are still some Incan, Mayan, Aztec, and Native American cultures that remain today, many continue to struggle some 500 years after Columbus.

I hope this helps! My father was a world history teacher, so I may have provided a little excess information, depending on what you have and have not covered in your studies of the Columbian Exchange. :)

The purpose of a budget is to do what? PLEASE HELP I WILL MARK BRAINLIEST

reduce the size of fixed expenses

earn a return on savings

make sure expenses are below income

prevent discretionary spending

Answers

Probably, make sure expenses are below income.
If you spend more than you have or earn, you would be over budget.

Answer:

Make sure expenses are below income.

Explanation:

So lets go over what a budget is.

A budget is a limitation put on the amount of money spent.

The point of a budget is to not spend too much money, ie, not spend more than you get.

Lets look at the answe options and see which one is closest to this:

Reduce the size of fixed expenses.

This is reducing the cost of something.

This is not what budget does, true it saves you money, like reducing the size of fixed expenses, but it does it differently.

A budget limits the money you spend, saving you money by not spending more money.

A reduction of the fixed expenses saves you money by reducing the cost of something.

This isnt it.

Earn return on savings.

Earning something in general has nothing to do with budget.

Basically a simple way of putting it is budget reduces spending, and has no effectt of earnings.

This increases earning, with no regards to spending.

So this is not it either.

Prevent discretionary spending.

This is basically preventing spending money on uneccesary things.

Although it may sound like this could be it, since it reduces spending money, and has no effect on earnings, it isnt 100% accurate.

A budget doesnt mean that you cannot spend money on wants rather that needs, but restricts the amount or specifics of your wants or needs.

So again, this is not it,

Lastly we have expenses below income.

This is the purpose of budget.

Budget makes it so you do not spend more than you earn.

It limits the amount of money you spend, so no matter what you can not spend more than what you restrict your budget to.

Hope this helps!
