As you read through the lesson online, use the space below to take notes.
In this laboratory, you will study different kinds of chemical reactions.
Knowing the types of reactions helps you interpret your observations.
In a synthesis reaction, two reactants unite to form a third product.
In a single-displacement reaction, one ion of a reactant bonds with the second reactant.
In a double-displacement reaction, ions of both reactants change places.

The specific heat of a substance is 0.38 J/goC. How much energy is required to raise the temperature of 42 g of the substance from 25oC to 39oC?
Answer:
223.4J
Explanation:
Given parameters:
Specific heat capacity of substance = 0.38J/g°C
Mass of substance = 42g
Initial temperature = 25°C
Final temperature = 39°C
Unknown:
Energy required to raise the temperature = ?
Solution:
The amount of heat required by the substances can be derived using the expression below;
H = m c Δt
H is the amount of heat energy
m is the mass
c is the specific heat capacity
Δt is the change in temperature;
Δt = 39°C - 25°C = 14°C
Now insert the parameters and solve;
H = 42 x 0.38 x 14 = 223.4J
A students drawing of a nitrogen atom is shown. What change would make the model more accurate?
A-move the electrons into the nucleus
B-add 2 more protons
C-show 7 neutrons in the nucleus
D-remove 2 electrons
(Please leave a small explanation)
Answer:
C - show 7 neutrons in the nucleus
Explanation:
Use process of elimination:
-Answer A will not work because electrons are not in the nucleus.
-Answer B will change the atom's identity from nitrogen to fluorine; it will not work.
-Answer D will create a nitrogen ion, which is not what the prompt is asking for (an atom); it will not work.
The only logical answer is C, as that is the only one that is also true.

Answer:
A.
Explanation:
I just know.
Answer:
a.
Explanation:
1.
Based on the following information, arrange the A, B, C, and D from lowest to highest
activity (in order of increasing ability to act as reducing agents).
I. Only A, C and D react with 1 mol/L HCl to give H2(e).
II. When A is added to solutions of the other metal ions, metallic B and Care
formed but not D.
a) C
b) B
c) B
d) C
e) B
Order of metals from least reactive to most reactive: B <C <A <D
Further explanationReducing agents are substances that experience oxidation
Oxidizing agents are substances that experience reduction
The metal activity series is expressed in voltaic series
Li-K-Ba-Ca-Na-Mg-Al-Mn- (H2O) -Zn-Cr-Fe-Cd-Co-Ni-Sn-Pb- (H) -Cu-Hg-Ag-Pt-Au
The more to the left, the metal is more reactive (easily release electrons) and the stronger reducing agent
The more to the right, the metal is less reactive (harder to release electrons) and the stronger oxidizing agent
So that the metal located on the left can push the metal on the right in the redox reaction
Let's analyze the statement in the problem
I. Only A, C and D react with 1 mol/L HCl to give H₂(e)
M + HCl ⇒ MCl + H₂(MCl : alkali, MCl₂ : alkaline earth)
A, C and D can react with 1 mol / L HCl, meaning metals A, C and D are located to the left of element H (more reactive), and B in the right of element H
II. When A is added to solutions of the other metal ions, metallic B and C are formed but not D.
This means that metal A is more reactive than metals B and C, while D is more reactive than A, so metal D is the most reactive
Diazomethane has the following composition by mass: 28.57% C, 4.80% H, and 66.64% N. The molar mass of diazomethane is 42.04 g/mol. Find the molecular formula of diazomethane.
Answer:
CH2N2
Explanation:
To find the molecular formula, we must first find the empirical formula as follows:
28.57% C - 28.57g of Carbon
4.80% H - 4.80g of Hydrogen
66.64% N - 66.64g of Nitrogen
Next, we convert this mass values to mole by dividing by their respective atomic mass.
C = 28.57/12 = 2.38mol
H = 4.80/1 = 4.80mol
N = 66.64/14 = 4.76mol
Next, we divide each mole value by the smallest mole value (2.38mol)
C = 2.38mol ÷ 2.38 = 1
H = 4.80mol ÷ 2.38 = 2.01
N = 4.76mol ÷ 2.38 = 2
The empirical ratio of C, H and N is therefore 1:2:2. Hence, the empirical formula is CH2N2
To calculate the molecular formula;
(CH2N2)n = 42.04 g/mol
{12 + 1(2) + 14(2)}n = 42.04
{12 + 2 + 28}n = 42.04
{42}n = 42.04
n = 42.04/42
n = 1.00009
Since n = 1, molecular formula is CH2N2

C. Wind
D. Hydropower
I need y’all’s help xD please help <3 15 points ; )
Answer:
Biomass
Explanation:
It is Biomass because biomass is a Renewable and organic energy that is gotten from living things to generate sustainable electric energy. The farmer with corn and herds of cows has biomass energy resources because it is gotten from living things both plants and animals. The materials use for biomass gotten from plants and animals are woods, barks, straw, animals dung,gases produced by animals e.t.c.

Calculate the pH of the resulting solution if 32.0 mL of 0.320 M HCl(aq) is added to (a) 42.0 mL of 0.320 M NaOH(aq). (b) 22.0 mL of 0.420 M NaOH(aq).
Answer:
a) pH = 11.5
b) pH= 3
Explanation:
a) lets calculate the number of moles of each reactant
moles of HCl = 32/1000 * 0.32 = 0.01024 mole
moles of NaOH = 42/1000 * 0.32 = 0.01344 moles
1 moles of HCl reacts with 1 moles of NaOH , so 0.01024 mole of HCl should react with 0.01024 moles of NaOH , but there is some excess NaOH.
excess NaOH= 0.01344 -0.01024 = 0.0032 moles
[H+]= [tex]\frac{10^{-14} }{0.0032} = 3.125 *10^{-12}[/tex]
pH= -log [3.125*10^-12) = 11.5
b) moles of NaOH = 0.00924
excess HCl present = 0.01024 - 0.00924 =.001
so excess [H+] = 0.001
pH= -log( 0.001) = 3

How many electrons does 47Ag+1 have?
107
47
48
46
Answer:
b. Mg & Cl
a. transferred
46
Explanation:
Ionic bonds form between metals and non-metals when electrons are transferred from one specie to another.
The electrostatic attraction from the resulting ions forms the ionic bonds. A metal is electropositive and will readily donate electronsA non-metal is electronegative and will accept electrons. This creates two oppositely charge ions that attracts by means of ionic bonding.Since Mg and Cl are the only metal - non-metal pair, and ionic bond will form between them.
2.
In the specie;
₄₇Ag¹⁺
47 is the atomic number of the element Ag.
The atomic number is the number of protons in an atom. For a specie in neutral state, the number of protons and electrons are the same.
When an atom loses electron, it becomes positively charged. Here Ag has lost one electron and then, the number of electrons becomes 46. The number of protons is still 47The beginning of this chemical equation represents the
