ASCH EXPERIMENT central idea
Answer:
The Asch conformity experiments were a series of psychological experiments conducted by Solomon Asch during the 1950s. The experiments revealed the degree to which a person's own opinions are influenced by those of groups. Asch found that people were willing to ignore reality and give an incorrect answer in order to conform to the rest of the group.
The Asch conformity experiments were a series of psychological experiments conducted by Solomon Asch during the 1950s.
Who was Solomon Asch?Solomon Asch, a pioneer in social psychology and a Polish-American Gestalt psychologist, lived from September 14, 1907, until February 20, 1996.
He produced groundbreaking works on compliance, prestige suggestion, impression construction, and many other subjects. The common Gestalt psychology tenet that the whole is not just larger than the sum of its parts, but that the nature of the whole profoundly transforms the parts, is reflected in much of his work.
Further Asch declared: "Most social behaviors must be understood in the context of their use; otherwise, they become meaningless. The failure to understand social facts' context and purpose is the gravest error in social fact analysis " (Asch, 1952, p. 61). Asch is most known for his conformity studies, in which he showed how group pressure may have an impact.
Thus the Central idea was to study the psychological experiments conducted by Solomon Asch.

In Paragraph seven of Shooting an Elephant, Orwell tries to convey to his audience how he is feeling about the natives being there with him when he has to shoot the elephant. He uses descriptive language and imagery to get his point across to the reader.
When Orwell uses imagery to describe the native around him he is allowing the reader to feel that they are there with him. so when Orwell says " the sea of yellow faces" and " "garish clothes" he is trying to get the reader to feel that they are in the book with him. Using imagery allows Orwell to give his readers an idea of where he is.
When Orwell talks about the natives gathering around him he is very descriptive about what they do. the quote " it was an immense crowd, two thousand at the least and growing every minute." He tries to tell the reader what is happening and how many people were actually there. this quote "; I could feel their two thousand wills pressing me forward, irresistibly." He uses these words to show that the crowd is pressuring him and that he does now have to kill the elephant, that the crowd is now watching and will be disappointed if he doesn't do it.
Answer:
In paragraph 7 of Shooting an Elephant, Orwell appeals to pathos by using descriptive language and imagery to convey his feelings of having to shoot an elephant in the presence of natives. Orwell says "the sea of yellow faces" and "garish clothes" to describe his surroundings and to evoke imagery from the reader. This effect helps substantially with placing us alongside him in the book, and helping us to understand more about the setting. Furthermore, Orwell tells us about the way the natives gather around him, saying "it was an immense crowd, two thousand at least and growing every minute." By doing this, Orwell makes it as if we can almost experience the peer pressure of feeling obligated to do something because of those around us. Lastly, this effect of peer pressure is further by the last line in which he expresses that if he does not kill the elephant, everyone around him will be dissapointed.

summary of on his blindness by john milton
Explanation:
Poem Summary
Many people are familiar with the story of Ludwig Van Beethoven. This man, in spite of being deaf, managed to become a world-renowned composer. What a terrible fate: to have the sense most integral to your art be taken away from you. Similar is the story of John Milton, an English poet, who, by 1655 at age 48, was blind. His ability to write was threatened and, as a result, his relationship with God became complicated.
In On His Blindness, Milton is struggling to understand what God expects of him now that he is losing his sight. He's upset about wasting 'that one Talent which is death to hide' (line 3), which is a biblical reference to the parable of the talents (Matthew 25: 14-30), in which two people invest their talents (in the story, 'talents' are money), while another just hides his talent in a hole and is punished. Milton feels that God expects him to use his talent for writing poetry in a way that honors Him.
Milton is frustrated that his lack of sight is preventing him from serving God when he wants to so badly:
...Though my Soul more bent
To serve therewith my Maker, and present
My true account... (lines 4-6)
Milton's 'true account' refers to his religious poetry. Much of his poetry was concerned with God's relationship to mankind and he considered it a serious duty to write poetry that simultaneously made God's mysterious ways more clear to people and honored God with its craft.
At line 7, Milton wonders if God still expects him to keep writing without his sight, then decides that God is more forgiving than he was giving him credit for, Surely, knowing of his condition and strong desire to please Him, God wouldn't expect anything that he couldn't possibly accomplish, nor would he punish him.
The last half of the poem has a calmer tone. It's almost like Milton realizes that while he's writing that people can serve God in many different ways. It's the intent and the grace with which one deals with hardship that counts

13.England scored 350 runs in 50 overs, but team India easily chased the target.
Answer:
- She was looking upset that day as her friends hadn't come to see her. --> complex sentence.
1. She was looking upset that day --> main clause
2. as her friends hadn't come to see her --> subordinate clause
- England scored 350 runs in 50 overs, but team India easily chased the target. --> compound sentence
1. England scored 350 runs in 50 overs --> independent clause
2. but team India easily chased the target --> independent clause
Explanation:
The best way to identify what type of sentence we are dealing with is by looking for clauses. A clause will have a subject and a predicate. Once we find it, we need to identify what type of clause it is.
To do that, we can look for conjunctions, which are words that connect the different clauses and establish a relationship between them. A coordinating conjunction will connect two independent clauses and create a compound sentence. Since there is only a few of them, they are easy to memorize by using the acronym FANBOYS (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, and so). Notice that in the second sentence we analyzed above, we have the conjunction "but".
A subordinating conjunction connects a main clause to a subordinate clause and creates a complex sentence. In the first sentence we analyzed above, we have the conjunction "as" introducing an explanation.
