My eyes scanned the plains where I had hunted bison, the
creek where I had gotten water. They could no more take
this land from me than I could give it freely. It was never
mine to give, and I had never thought that I owned it. I used
it in accordance with what the gods had given me. And

A Pup Unleashed
"You know how your dad feels about keeping animals in the house, Evan, and this is the second time you'll be upsetting him. Last time, you rescued a cat and kept it for a week in your room. Remember how much we had to convince your dad to grant you permission for doing that?" said Evan's mom, Laurie, in a weary tone.
"I know, mom, but last time I kept the cat just for a week before it got adopted, and now, she is doing well and living with a great family. I found this puppy wandering on the street with no one else around to take care of him. So, I got him home, and I promise I'll get him adopted as soon as I can," pleaded Evan.
"You're a good boy, Evan. I'll talk to your dad and see what I can do," said Evan's mom, with a smile on her face.
Laurie tried to convince Evan's dad, Henry, that night to let Evan keep the pup in Evan's room before he could get it adopted. After much discussion, Henry agreed to let Evan keep the pup only for one week.
Over the next three days, Henry often complained about Evan carelessly letting the pup wander the house whenever he spotted the pup outside Evan's room, but, on the fourth day, Henry was reading a newspaper in the living room when the pup waddled in. Henry peeked at the pup's gait, and suddenly, a smile broke upon his face.

Which two pieces of evidence from the passage best support the idea that Evan likes to help animals in need?
So, I got him home, and I promise I'll get him adopted
Henry agreed to let Evan keep the pup only for one week
she is doing well and living with a great family
this is the second time you'll be upsetting him
you rescued a cat and kept it for a wee
Answer:
So, I got him home, and I promise I'll get him adopted .
you rescued a cat and kept it for a week.
Explanation:
In the given passage from "A Pup Unleashed", Evan's character is someone who loves animals and helps them get their forever homes. He would take in strays and help them get a safe house, most of the time, having to argue with his family against taking in strays.
But at the same time, he seems to have a heart of gold for he couldn't ignore the suffering of the animals. After keeping a cat for a week with him and then eventually getting him adopted, he has now taken in another stray, this time, a dog, much against his parents' liking. But despite their original demeanor, they allowed their son to keep the dog for a week. They know he has good intentions and just wanted to get someone to take him home, "get him adopted".
The two pieces of evidence that best support the idea that Evan likes helping animals in need is when he took in a stray cat and kept him for a week and his decision to take in the dog and get him adopted.

This investment strategy is knows as?
Answer:
Diversification
Explanation:
A 401k is a type of retirement investment made by the employees. The employees set aside a specific amount of money which could be on autopilot to the 401K account. This money could be simply left as cash which would not result in any growth, or invested to yield returns for the employee. Sugar was the connection, the tie, between slavery and freedom. In order to create sugar, Europeans and colonists in the Americas destroyed Africans, turned them into objects. Just at that very same moment, Europeans—at home and across the Atlantic—decided that they could no longer stand being objects themselves. They each needed to vote, to speak out, to challenge the rules of crowned kings and royal princes. How could that be? Why did people keep speaking of equality while profiting from slaves? In fact, the global hunger for slave-grown sugar led directly to the end of slavery. Following the strand of sugar and slavery leads directly into the tumult of the Age of Revolutions. For in North America, then England, France, Haiti, and once again North America, the Age of Sugar brought about the great, final clash between freedom and slavery. Based on this excerpt, the authors are most likely to attempt to answer which question? How did colonists challenge the rules of crowned kings? How did the Age of Sugar differ from the Age of Revolutions? When did Europeans decide to speak about equality? Why did some Europeans decide they wanted to speak out about slavery?

In "An Indian Father's Plea" what does Medicine Grizzlybear Lake ask the teacher to do for wind-wolf?
Answer:
C. Give him a second chance and treat him more fairly .
Explanation:
The letter "An Indian Father's Plea" is a plea letter written by Medicine Grizzlybear Lake to his son's teacher who has labeled him "a slow learner". The son, Wind-Wolf is a native Indian who had started school in a western American schooling system and seemed 'slow' as compared to the other students.
But according to the father, he had been through more education than his classmates. Just because he is an Indian doesn't mean he doesn't know the way of the world or even the American western system. As compared to his traditional way of learning, the western education system may be hard but that is no reason to call a child "a slow learner". So, Robert Lake (Medicine Grizzlybear) wrote this letter as a plea to ask the teacher to give his son Wind-Wolf a second chance and treat him more fairly.

For me I wish someone had taught me that getting along with people well is actually far more important than being superb at your job. I saw it 1000 times that the easier-going person got promoted and the more determined workaholic who really knew their stuff were passed over. I never learned how to small talk.
I was told several times that college is the most important time of a person’s life and that the relationships made then are crucially important down the line. I spent far too much time becoming an outstanding student/MD and far too little time complimenting the nurses and administrators, etc., always willing to linger for small talk even if patients were waiting on me. It took a long time for me to realize that no one cared how expert I was as long as I completed the minimum necessary work, and the patients’ outcomes were of scarce importance to them.
Now with internet access it’s much easier to maintain relationships, although the substance seems much shallower than a handwritten snail mail letter from generations ago when literacy was really valued and letters were creative.
I’ve never spent time arguing since it always seemed pointless to me. I was right. I think of the thousands of arguments I've witnessed over the years and the nonsense I put up with with so many combative personalities. If only I knew then that people cannot communicate properly when arguing so it’s a complete waste of time for everyone. I decided many years ago to never sit through such nonsense and simply say “let’s table this until everyone is calm” and then I exit.
