Based on Anne's diary and a few of her short stories, we can reconstruct what typical weekdays and Sundays in the Secret Annex would have been like.

In the morning, At 6:45 am, the alarm of Mr, and Mrs. Van Pels went off. Hermann van Pels got up, put the kettle on, and went to the bathroom. At 8:30 am, a risky half-hour started. The men in the warehouse started their working day, while the office helpers had not yet arrived. At 9:00 am, the helpers started working in the office above the warehouse. The people in hiding walked around in socks and still had to be quiet, but sounds from above now caused less suspicion. March 15, 2014

Today, March 15, 2014, the residents of New York City took advantage of the spring weather to join the NYC Historical Society in burying a time capsule. Their hope is that on March 15, 2114, it will be opened and the future residents of NYC will have a testament of what life was like 100 years in the past.

Locked away in the titanium cylinder are important artifacts from the present day. "I want people of the future to understand what our lives were like, day to day — how we communicated and how we spent our days," said 14-year-old Sylvia.

"Yeah, when they open this," exclaimed middle school student, Devonne, "they are not going to believe their eyes!"

The objects inserted into the time capsule are varied. They were chosen by citizens from all walks of life and professions. Among those asked to contribute to the time capsule were librarians, teens, computer programmers, medical professionals, research scientists, gardeners, neurologists, biologists, and more.

Etched onto the surface of the time capsule are the words of the author, William Faulkner, as he accepted the 1950 Nobel Prize for Literature:

"I believe that man will not merely endure: he will prevail. He is immortal, not because he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice, but because he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance."

the fate of New York lied on their shoulders. He directly stated, “The weapon you

currently hold holds the key to freedom. Peril will stop at nothing to stay ruler of New

York City.”. They were also informed that one of Peril’s employees had spotted them

and they were going to be followed. Peril and his companion Danny will stop at

nothing to foil the teen's plans for freedom.

With this information, Jack and Lily immediately set off. It was not possible to carry

the whole capsule or even disguise it so, they only carried the weapon and hid the

capsule in a safe place to retrieve later. They refused to travel in secret as that would

be obvious but, conceal into the crowds. In spite of that Peril found them. He crept

up and shoved them into a room demanding the weapon and as he had rule on New

York everyone was terrified at the thought of standing up to him. Jack and Lily had no

idea of what just happened and have fallen, unknowingly opening a trapped door.

Jack could not help himself and shouted “This is so cool a trap door in an abandoned

house”. Peril heard this and smashed the door open however, instead of rattling the

teens he merely chuckled. A wicked smile grew on his face “Look what I found here”.

Jack and Lily climbed out just to find that Peril had the weapon.
