Both the Mayan and Egyptian pyramids are similar in that both civilizations constructed their pyramids using superior knowledge of mathematics, engineering and astronomy.

The Mayan civilization had 2 types of pyramids they constructed. One type was intended for human sacrifice. This type of pyramid was meant to be climbed to the top where the sacrifice would take place. The other kind was never intended for human occupation but rather served as a sacred place for their deities. Often the steps are too steep to be scaled.

Some of the Mayan pyramids were also used for navigation as they towered over the jungle canopy, where the purpose of the Egyptian pyramids were either used as a burial chamber, or some other unknown purpose, depending on who you ask.

The major difference between the two types of pyramids, is in the construction. The structures created later in the Egyptians dynasties were constructed with kind of almost flat face on each side, going from the ground straight up. They were more of a polyhedron with a flat polygon base and triangular faces connecting the base to a common point. While the Mayan pyramids resemble the ones constructed in the earlier Egyptian dynasties which were considered a “step pyramid”, with small platforms that step in concession all the way to the top. Making it look like a giant staircase. The pyramids in Egypt do not have an outer staircase. However in the very early dynasties the Egyptians used the step pyramid method.

Hey…. I just need some advice. So I suck at math right like I dont know anything, or I should say I dont remember anything! So a little bit over the summer I have been doing Khan acadamey and what not. But I still cant seem to do anything right! So school here starts september 1st and Im gonna be a freshman in highschool. What do I do!!!

Answers

Well just relax everything will be ok. I was nervous as a freshman as well and struggled but your teacher will always be there for you, just keep on studying and when school starts don’t be afraid to raise your hand or ask for help when needed because they won’t know if you’re struggling. Personally in my high school my teachers offered tutoring after school. Don’t stress and break ur head just enjoy ur break and wait until school starts cause i’m pretty sure not everyone is gonna remember anything as well. They take it little by little and it’s pretty easy.

study some in any way possible and talk to your parents abt it, be confident and be yourself and that way ppl will like you.

Is there any impotent events that are in the book Bonemender?

Answers

Answer:

Three important Events

Just learning of her birth, it made Gabrielle begin to question her being. Could her real parents have also had her unique ability? What will she do from now on with her family? This is the first of things that cause her great stress. Even before the war she is confused with herself, how can she handle her father dying in the war as well?

The news that Féolan gave to the higher ups of Verdeau is the building block to the whole novel. All of the events after Féolan gave his news happened because he did so. In effect, the King decided to prepare for war to resist against the Greffaires' attack. Had he not given information to the King, the Greffaires would have easily taken over the Verdeau kingdom. This news had forced Verdeau to ask the elves of Stonewater to assist, making a bond between humans and elves, this bond being the first in centuries. The bond allowed Gabrielle to enter Stonewater without being questioned. In Stonewater, she learned that she was an elf herself, a vital part in the novel as well.

With Gabrielle's truth finally discovered, she becomes very confused. Now that she knows she is an elf as well, is happy to know that she can spend more time with Féolan. Still, she has to make a hard decision: Should she stay in Stonewater as Twylar? Or should she return to Verdeau as Gabrielle? Holly Bennett keeps us wondering when Gabrielle says she's returning home. How will that affect Gabrielle in the following novel?

A. What locations are best for growing a school garden?

Explanation:

The question "What locations are best for growing a school garden?" it is the only one that directly refers to the establishment of a school garden. For this reason, we can say that with this question the author of the book would be able to quickly reach the audience he wants to reach, since he raises a common and recurring thought in people who want to create a school garden.

Modern inventions and discoveries: support Scripture and creation support the idea of evolution do not relate to Scripture falsify Scripture

Answers

Answer:

Both believe that the universe was created or made. Somehow.  Either they believe that poof it was put into place in 6 days or by a process of evolution - over a period of time.  Most evolutionists do not believe in a world wide flood - but creationists can see the layers that have formed over the years in places like the Grand Canyon.   Can anything evolve from nothing?  How did living things come to have Life?  Try to remember that living things reproduce into more living things.

Explanation:

There is no scientific law that states that something evolved from nothing.  How does life arise from non-life?  How does one creature turn into another creature - or does he evolve into a different type of species.  We have seen this in nature - how a species must adapt to his new environment.  Man or animal.  Maybe this will help too:  Simplistic info -

Evolutionists - single cell evolves into multicelled - evolves into fish - evolves into amphibians - and then you get the reptile.  Soon comes the evolution of this turning into birds, mammals, and then humans.

Creationinsts - fish are created as just that - fish, amphibians - created as just that - amphibians, etc.....birds created as birds....

Did dogs evolve from a wolf?  People breed dogs all the time to try to create a new type of dog.  Finches - type of bird - has shown that it has changed or evolved over time too - it's beak has changed shape.  It changed shape to adapt to the environment around it.

Maybe you could point out in your writing that science needs evidence.  Have we really seen something evolve in real time -

Just make sure to include that humans have intervened.  They even are cloning now.  Scary but true.  Are they trying to be God or are they just trying to create something better than it was before???

My Math Autobiography

For this paper I will be writing about my experiences with math. I will talk about my feelings about math, my good and bad math years, and what I expect from myself this year.

I have always liked math and I have always been good at math. I say I've always been good at math because I've always gotten good grades in math. My math teachers were always really nice to me. I was constantly helping out other students and it was fun for me.

I didn't ever really feel challenged by math until I got to college. I remember my freshman year at Ohio State I received my first C in math. It was a statistics course. I worked so hard for that C. It was frustrating. I realized I never learned to study. Since I couldn't bear the thought of getting yet another bad grade in math, I decided to join a study group. Wow! That made all the difference in the world. I never again received another bad grade in math.

Since I'm a teacher, this year I hope to give my students the confidence I had with math when I was their age. I also want to teach them how to study, since I never learned to study until I got to college. Like I said in the beginning, I've always liked math and I hope my math experiences can make me a better math teacher.

Frank McCourt, Whose Irish Childhood Illuminated His Prose, Is Dead at 78:” How does the anecdote about McCourt assigning students to write “an excuse letter” in the paragraph below add to the development of his story? “Mr. McCourt developed an idiosyncratic teaching style that found a somewhat more receptive audience at the elite Stuyvesant High School, where he taught creative writing after earning a master’s degree in English from Brooklyn College in 1967. He had students sing Irish songs to break down their resistance to poetry. After discovering a sheaf of written excuses from past years, he recognized an unexplored literary genre and asked students to write, say, an excuse letter from Adam or Eve to God, explaining why he or she should not be punished for eating the apple.” Question 44 options: a) It illustrates another example of writing through using one’s own experiences. b) It puts forth the idea that McCourt was an even better teacher than he was a writer. c) It shows where he got the idea for what the format of Angela’s Ashes should be. d) It provides another instance of McCourt bringing one of his childhood traditions from Ireland and sharing it in America.

At the beginning of the story, "The world on the turtle's back," we are told that  in the beginning, there was nothing, but there was a "Sky World." Here, lived gods, who were like normal people. However, when a woman falls to the "Normal World" she is saved by birds, and placed on the turtle's back. The story goes on to tell, that a muskrat brings her soil, which she used to build the land. That is why, the land formed.

Read the following passage:

Forgive the interruption, dear reader, but I’ll have you know this is going to be an adventure for me, too. It’s not easy being an inanimate object worth enough American dollars to feed a family of six in Chad for over forty thousand years. (Or 4,077 families of six for a decade each. How my value is distributed is of no concern to me.)

That is no exaggeration.)

Right now, that dastardly George Washington has his ugly green face smashed against mine, and there’s a month-old Chick-fil-A receipt pressed against my behind without my consent. To top it off, the person who shoved me into this lackluster billfold truly has forgotten about me.

The indignity of it all is appalling considering my value, don’t you think?

Make an inference as to who or what the speaker in this passage might be. What details did you use to help you reach this conclusion?

Answers

Answer:

An old coin, winning lottery ticket, or an old dollar.

Explanation:

It seems that the objects setting is in a wallet because it has a receipt, George Washington's ugly green face(a dollar), and I believe the " lackluster billfold" the narrator speaks of is part of a wallet. The object saying it is worth so much money, but is stuffed into a wallet and forgotten about leads me to infer that it could be an old and rather valuable form of currency that blends in, making the person "truly forget about me". Another option is a lottery ticket, the winning one too if its worth so much money, and people often put them into wallets and such and forget about them. These things lead me to conclude that the object is either an old coin, winning lottery ticket, or an old dollar.

Answer: some worthy thing in a wallet; could be an really old dollar bill, or really old coin that's made of something really expensive.

Inanimate means; not alive

The speaker is worth a lot of money

George Washington is green and that most likely means he's a dollar bill.

Some people put receipts in their wallets right?

Billfold means; wallet

So the speaker is a forgotten, valuable (or the person who owns the wallet doesn't know the value and is too lazy to take it out), non-living thing in a wallet.

From "The Tyranny of Things" by Elizabeth Morris Once upon a time, when I was very tired, I chanced to go away to a little house by the sea. "It is empty," they said, "but you can easily furnish it." Empty! Yes, thank Heaven! Furnish it? Heaven forbid! Its floors were bare, its walls were bare, its tables there were only two in the house were bare. There was nothing in the closets but books; nothing in the bureau drawers but the smell of clean, fresh wood; nothing in the kitchen but an oil stove, and a few a very few dishes; nothing in the attic but rafters and sunshine, and a view of the sea. After I had been there an hour there descended upon me a great peace, a sense of freedom, of in finite leisure. In the twilight I sat before the flickering embers of the open fire, and looked out through the open door to the sea, and asked myself, "Why?" Then the answer came: I was emancipated from things. There was nothing in the house to demand care, to claim attention, to cumber my consciousness with its insistent, unchanging companionship. There was nothing but a shelter, and outside, the fields and marshes, the shore and the sea. These did not have to be taken down and put up and arranged and dusted and cared for. They were not things at all, they were powers, presences. And so I rested. While the spell was still unbroken, I came away. For broken it would have been, I know, had I not fled first. Even in this refuge the enemy would have pursued me, found me out, encompassed me. If we could but free ourselves once for all, how simple life might become! One of my friends, who, with six young children and only one servant, keeps a spotless house and a soul serene, told me once how she did it. "My dear, once a month I give away every single thing in the house that we do not imperatively need. It sounds wasteful, but I don’t believe it really is. Sometimes Jeremiah mourns over missing old clothes, or back numbers of the magazines, but I tell him if he doesn’t want to be mated to a gibbering maniac he will let me do as I like." The old monks knew all this very well. One wonders sometimes how they got their power; but go up to Fiesole, and sit a while in one of those little, bare, white-walled cells, and you will begin to understand. If there were any spiritual force in one, it would have to come out there. I have not their courage, and I win no such freedom. I allow myself to be overwhelmed by the invading host of things, making fitful resistance, but without any real steadiness of purpose. Yet never do I wholly give up the struggle, and in my heart I cherish an ideal, remotely typified by that empty little house beside the sea. Which three statements from the essay illustrate how Morris feels about things? Choose one answer from each group. Type the LETTER ONLY for each answer in the correct blank. Type A, B, or C for Blank 1. Empty! Yes, thank Heaven It sounds wasteful, but I don’t believe it really is I have not their courage, and I win no such freedom. Type D, E, or F for Blank 2. What is one example of real-life government control that is like the type of control in the book “Matched” by Ally Condie?

Answers

To be honest, the government control in "Matched" is pretty unrealistic and it's pretty strict. I don't really think there are any real-life examples of this government control type but...

In "Matched"; you have to die at 80, your husband/wife is chosen by the "matching machine" (I forgot what it is called), you are given three pills (which the red one you must take if instructed and you can't take if they don't say so. If you don't do what they say, you will be punished. You can't really choose your life, and the things you can decide, your not ever allowed to change.

I don't really know any real-life examples of this but I heard that some Asian parents choose who you marry and you have to act like their your queen or king. If you disobey they will probably throw you out of the house.

Yeah but the government control type in the book "Matched" is really strict, and you don't have a lot of freedom.

What argument does Roosevelt make in this

Read the passage from Eleanor Roosevelt's speech

Human Rights.
The first two paragraphs of the amendment to
article 3 deal with the question of minorities, which
committee 3 decided required further study, and has
recommended, in a separate resolution, their

the Human Rights Commission. As set out in the
Soviet amendment this provision clearly states
"group," and not "individual," rights.
The Soviet amendment to article 20 is obviously a
very restrictive statement of the right to freedom of
opinion and expression. It sets up standards which
would enable any state practically to deny all
freedom of opinion and expression without violating
the article. It introduces the terms "democratic view."

Answer: The argument which Roosevelt makes in this passage is that if the assembly fails to approve the soviet amendments, individual freedom may soon disappear.

Explanation:

He warns the Soviet delegations in case if they do not approve the Soviet amendments.

The argument Roosevelt makes in this passage is If the Assembly fails to approve the Soviet amendments, individual freedom may soon disappear. Thus the correct option is A.

What is the argument?

The situations when two individuals involved in a conversation share differences of opinions which causes disagreement between them and creates arguments in order to prove them stronger.

The adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is highlighted in the paragraph. As stated in the Soviet modification, this clause expressly refers to "collective" rights rather than "individual" rights.

In this section, Roosevelt makes the claim that if the Soviet amendments are not approved by the Assembly, individual freedom may soon become abolished which is not considered better for growth.

Therefore, option A is appropriate.

Thank you :)Since the publication of the first novel of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga in 2005, millions of readersall over the world, the majority of whom are teenage girls and women, have fallen for the love story ofBella and Edward. Furthered by the release of the movie adaptations of the first three volumes in2009 and 2010, critics have started to wonder about the foundation of Twilight-mania, especiallyconcerning the basic theme of the story, namely the vampire myth, which, throughout its literaryhistory, is rather a reflection of "adolescent male fantasy" (Twitchell, Living 6). Still, the indisputablykitsny story of an inconspicuous teenager who falls in love with the vampire next door fascinatestoday's emancipated and independent females and thus can be regarded as an essential part of thesuccess. It would seem that the attraction derives from Meyer's unique interweaving of differentgeneric elements, a strategy which can be found in other late 20th- and 21st-century popularliterature. Thus, for instance, the "Harry Potter books have been received with manic enthusiasm"because they, too, "uniquely combine several kinds of appeal" (O'Keefe 176), such as the mixture ofpublic school story and fantasy. In the Twilight Saga, we find a similar amalgamation of variousdifferent literary genres - fantasy fiction for young adults, vampire story, gothic romance, andArthurian legend. It is a medley, a generic crossing that is - not least due to its focus on an activeyoung heroine - bound to entice a primarily female readership.Through an analysis of the figure of the vampire in literature as well as in folklore it will be observedto what extent Edward differs from the folkloric blood-sucking revenant and also from the master of allliterary vampires, Dracula. Furthermore, it will be investigated how his knightly behaviour towardsBella contributes to the impression of a romantic transformation of the gothic form. Special attentionwill also be paid to the figure of Bella, who, on the one hand seems to be presented as the femmefragile or damsel in distress concerning her physicality, but, on the other hand, represents a figure ofidentification for female readers as the independent, strong-willed hero of young adult fiction. Theanalysis seeks to prove that the combination of these various aspects of different genres andtraditions allows Meyer to create a new kind of vampire love story.
