In the exposition of the short story "Three Skeleton Key" written by George G. Toudouze, the Narrator works on the island called Three Skeleton Key. The island got its name since three men a couple years ago tried escaping from Cayenne on a small, stolen canoe. Later they died of hunger and thirst. So, the Narrator works with two other men in a lighthouse by the names of Le Gleo and Itchoua. Late one night, the three men were working in the lighthouse, and they saw a ship sailing towards the island, but it wasn't stopping, it was headed straight towards the island. "Are they drunk, are they insane?" exclaimed Itchoua. Then they realize that there is no crew on board and no one is controlling the ship. Also, there are a bunch of rats on the ship that are huge. A couple hours later, the ship crashes in the reef by the island and sinks in the sea. They are relieved to see the rats gone, but then they start swimming back up to the surface and towards that island. The rats swim up to the shore of the island and the three men run into the lighthouse. The rats start climbing up the lighthouse and try biting through the walls. The three men are stuck inside the lighthouse for days.

Physicians could not do much for victims of the plague is the central idea of this paragraph. The correct option is A.
The main point of this sentence is that plague victims were not effectively treated by doctors during the Elizabethan era. In the paragraph, the symptoms of the plague are listed, including painful black buboes in the armpits and groin, a quick heartbeat, headaches, thirst, and delirium.
It draws attention to the fact that physicians would recommend conventional medications like theriac, mithridatism, and dragon water, but the narrator believes these prescriptions are only attempts to extort money from a patient who is dying.
Thus, the ideal selection is option A.

Read the excerpt from The Time Traveler's Guide to Elizabethan England.
But what if it comes to the worst? What if you have painful black buboes in your groin and armpits, and experience the rapid pulse, the headaches, the terrific thirst, and delirium that are the tokens of the plague? There is little you can do. Physicians will prescribe the traditional medicines of dragon water, mithridatism, and theriac if they hear you are suffering but you will suspect that these are cynical attempts to relieve a dying person of his money. The physicians themselves will not normally come near you. Simon Forman, who does attend plague sufferers, is a rare exception: this is because he has survived the disease and believes he cannot catch it again.

The emphasis on body paragraph is that we, as a country have not thought enough about how to motivate students instead, are thinking of ways to improve their attendance. Studies have shown that rewards can motivate students to go to school. Examples used in the paragraph are. It supports affirmation by giving a way to how students need motivation with rewards, which in turn gets them to go to school and get more learning. Chloe Hughes, a 15-year-old high school student from Bradford, was used as an explanation for the above study example. The reader understands the explanation and strengthens the example written by the author as it provides evidence aligned with the example. This is because Hughes agrees that having money at the weekend will get students to go to school and focus on their studies, rather than being on the street or getting a separate job.
The highlight of this paragraph is that as a nation, communities should determine students motivation and not just their attendance. Research has demonstrated that rewards for students can make them feel motivated to attend school.
