Read the excerpt from "To Save a Turtle."
Quentin didn’t help much with the beach cleanup, but he seemed impatient to see a crawl. Brenda could sort of understand that. The fact that he wasn’t sold on cleaning up wasn’t really suspicious on its own. After all, cleaning up the beach wasn’t a lot of fun. But there were other things Brenda began to pick up on as she observed him. She had seen Quentin sneak out of the cabin at night three times. If there had been a town near the camp, he might have been going out to a local restaurant or club, but the only thing nearby was the beach that led to the ocean. He could have been going for a midnight swim, except that he didn’t come back wet.
What is the most important detail from this excerpt?
a)Quentin does not like to clean up the beach.
b)Brenda notices Quentin’s suspicious behavior.
c)Brenda understands Quentin’s impatience.
d)The beach leads to the ocean.

Answer:
Summary Of Rethinking The Wild By Christopher Solomon Essay
1530 Words7 Pages
Humanity co-exists with nature in a relationship that periodically shifts between symbiotic and parasitic. We maintain this relationship in order to survive. In exchange, we carefully monitor how our behavior alters the natural environment and affects those living within it. This responsibility is the price we pay for our species’ sentience and dominance. To help fulfill our duty, America established the 1954 Wilderness Act in hopes of becoming passive “guardians” of nature instead of encroaching “gardeners.” However, the Wilderness Act has failed. In his article, “Rethinking the Wild”, Christopher Solomon questions the effectiveness of the law and correctly concludes that, after fifty years of dormancy, mankind must take an active role in environmental protection, the role of the gardener. Though critics may argue that the passivity of the “guardian” should be maintained, realistically, little can be done to preserve the environment when we refuse to do anything. Because mankind has a greater stake in the wilderness than we realize, we must assume a proactive role in protecting the wilderness out of respect for nature and our own ethical standards.
Boundaries and Investments
Assume for the sake of our argument that nature holds no intrinsic value. Why, then, is the wilderness worth protecting? Truthfully, the wilderness can be a valuable indicator of the planet’s overall health, which is not easily gauged in industrialized and populated areas due to human influence.
Victor Frankenstein continues recounting the influences that lead to his great experiment: An accident again changed the current of my ideas. When I was about fifteen years old we had retired to our house near Belrive, when we witnessed a most violent and terrible thunderstorm. It advanced from behind the mountains of Jura, and the thunder burst at once with frightful loudness from various quarters of the heavens. I remained, while the storm lasted, watching its progress with curiosity and delight. As I stood at the door, on a sudden I beheld a stream of fire issue from an old and beautiful oak which stood about twenty yards from our house; and so soon as the dazzling light vanished, the oak had disappeared, and nothing remained but a blasted stump. When we visited it the next morning, we found the tree shattered in a singular manner. It was not splintered by the shock, but entirely reduced to thin ribbons of wood. I never beheld anything so utterly destroyed. What does the author do for the reader in this passage

Woodrow Wilson... recognized that the Constitution is best understood not as a machine at all but as a living thing. What he did not add was that it's a living thing with no body or mind, no moving parts or organs or spirit separate from the bodies and minds and spirits of the people themselves, people whose constant vigilance—and I noticed when I was coming into the building [National Archives] that statement "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty," appropriate to have on the archives – people whose constant vigilance is the lifeblood of Constitutional survival.
Explain in about 50 words what the passage means.
Answer:
Wilson stated how he wanted to convey that the constitution should be treated like a real human with respect and decency. The constitution should not be understood as a machine but as a living and how we should take care of it and treat it right or lose it. Although this constitution has no feelings or body like us humans do, it should still be treated as one. It can be flexible and able to change and present our society in a way.
Woodrow Wilson
The meaning communicated by the passage would be as follows:
Woodrow expresses that the constitution must be given significance in the form of a living being. The idea behind this idea is that they must display respect and dignity towards the constitution. He has the viewpoint that it must be constantly taken care of and remained flexible as one does to his/her body. The way the body is treated as a combined and flexible entity irrespective of the emotions it doesn't have and similarly, the constitution must be viewed in the very same way.Learn more about "Wilson" here:

Theres been multiple variants of the virus that causes CO VID-19 have been documented in the United States and globally during this pand emic. The virus that causes CO VID-19 is a type of coronavirus, a large family of viruses. The Cov*id-19 pandemic is one of the most dangerous challenges this world has faced in our lifetime. It is above all a human crisis with severe health and socio-economic consequences.
The World Health Organization, with thousands of its staff, is on the front lines, supporting Member States and their societies, especially the most vulnerable among them, with guidance, training, equipment and concrete life-saving services as they fight the virus.
The World Health Organization must be supported, as it is absolutely critical to the world’s efforts to win the war against Cov*id-19.
I witnessed first-hand the courage and determination of WHO staff when I visited the Democratic Republic of the Congo last year, where WHO staff are working in precarious conditions and very dangerous remote locations as they fight the deadly Ebol*a virus. It has been a remarkable success for WHO that no new cases of Ebola have been registered in months.
It is my belief that the World Health Organization must be supported, as it is absolutely critical to the world’s efforts to win the war against Cov*id-19.
This virus is unprecedented in our lifetime and requires an unprecedented response. Obviously, in such conditions, it is possible that the same facts have had different readings by different entities. Once we have finally turned the page on this epidemic, there must be a time to look back fully to understand how such a disease emerged and spread its devastation so quickly across the globe, and how all those involved reacted to the crisis. The lessons learned will be essential to effectively address similar challenges, as they may arise in the future.
But now is not that time. Now is the time for unity, for the international community to work together in solidarity to stop this virus and its shattering consequences.
Water
Have you ever been told you need to drink water and stay hydrated? Yes, water is essential and very important to us. There are about 300 million trillion gallons of water on Earth. That is 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water. So it should be easy to keep drinking and staying hydrated with all that water available? Right? Well, most of the water on Earth is in the oceans, and we can only use about 3% of the water. Out of the 3%, we can really only use 1% because the other 2% is frozen in glaciers or hidden underground. That makes you really wonder.... Is there enough water for us to use forever?
Scientists say that we will actually never run out of water. Why is that? Well, water changes form and actually is recycled through the water cycle. However, if we are not careful, we can pollute or harm water with dangerous chemicals and other pollutants. When that happens it is extremely hard to ever recover and reuse that water.
So that really has you thinking now. What can we do to have an abundance of water forever? We need to take care of our water. We need to continue to be water wise. It is important to remember not to waste, pollute or destroy our natural resources. So next time you are drinking a cup of water remember how important it is to your survival.
