The Great War was supposed to be the war to end all wars. In hindsight, we all know it wasn't. And that is why we commonly call it World War I. Knowing that, please respond to the following questions in a 5 sentence + paragraph (with a claim and history to back it up).
Why shouldn't the winner of the war seek reparations on the loser?
What is wrong with self-determination - allowing nations to decide what kind of country they want to be?
Why can't America practice isolationism? Along with that, why do we have to have alliances in the modern world?
Why didn't the carving up of the Ottoman Empire and Eastern Europe work in the Treaty of Versailles and prevent WWII?
And why do you think so many Germans and Italians listened to fascist leaders like Hitler and Mussolini? The term is attached if you are struggling with it (https://www.britannica.com/topic/fascism).

The Great War Was Supposed To Be The War To End All Wars. In Hindsight, We All Know It Wasn't. And That

Answers

Answer 1

I'll respond to each question as if it was a separate problem. I'll let you rewrite these concepts into a paragraph format.

War is costly in terms of lives and money. It would be nice if a country could repay somehow in the form of bringing lives back, but that's not possible. So naturally people turn to money as a way to get reparations. This is to rebuild things that were bombed or destroyed in some way. Despite the temptation to want to force (very punishing) reparations, history has shown that such crippling reparations will lead to the loser country to further crumble apart. As the country falls apart, undesirable forces will step in and may lead to further deterioration. Couple this with the Great Depression, and these two factors led to strong reasons why people turned to fascism. Keep in mind that such a transition was slow and over a long period of time. It didn't happen overnight. In short, crippling reparations may seem like a good idea, but ultimately they have very strong negative consequences later down the road. There's nothing wrong with self-determination because after all, it makes sense to let countries do what they want to do. No one country should dictate terms over what another country should or shouldn't do. However, there are limits of course. If Germany wants to own a piece of land that's part of Poland, then the German army can't simply walk in and take it. There are other limits of course so it has to be within reason. America is physically isolated from Europe, which allowed that country to stay out of much of WWI and WWII until the tail end of each conflict. Theoretically, there's nothing stopping any country from being isolated from any others; however, if that country wants to engage in world trade and negotiations, then it has to be more involved. So again, America or any other country, could close up its borders tightly and be on its own. But since it's more efficient to have trading partners, the United States is better off being connected with the world. Also, even if America closed up all its borders as tight as possible, it would not prevent something like events of Pearl Harbor from happening. That was the tipping point to push the US into WWII.I'm not too familiar with this aspect of WWII history, so I don't think I'll be much help here. But if I had to make a guess, it would be because carving up a country in which you have no stake in likely leads to the local population being unhappy in some way. It would be like someone coming into your house and saying which rooms were yours, what you could or couldn't use, etc etc. Refer back to the first response (item 1) above. In the end portion, I mentioned that crippling economic conditions are likely a very strong reason to have people turn to fascism. They likely were out of options and backed into a wall. During the depression, a vast majority of people were homeless and starving. A person in such a state is probably likely to turn to drastic measures.

Each of those responses are my own viewpoint of what I remember from history class. I recommend you rewrite these concepts into your own words, and also use online sources to provide citation as well.

Answer:

  see below

Step-by-step explanation:

The x-values in each table are evenly-spaced (increasing by 2). So, the quadratic function can be identified by its second differences: they will be a non-zero constant.

Table 1 has first differences that are constant at 3. -2-(-5) = 3, for example. It represents a linear function.

Table 2 has first differences of 4, 8, 4, 4, neither constant, nor linearly increasing. The function does not have a name.

Table 3 has first differences of -9, -3, +3, +9, and these have differences of +6. This represents a quadratic function.

Table 4 has first differences of 0.5, 1, 2, 4. These have a constant ratio, as do the values in the table. It represents an exponential function.

The table that represents a quadratic function is C. Table 3.

What is a quadratic function?

A quadratic function simply means a function that's in the form of f(x) = ax² + bx + c.

In this case, the table that represents a quadratic function is table 3. It has first differences of -9, -3, +3, +9, and these have differences of +6. It can be deduced that in the quadratic function, b and x are numbers.

The height of a triangle is 2 less than 3 times it's base. If the area of the triangle is 48cm squares determine the base and height?

Answers

answer

we assume the height of the triangle is x,

so the base length will be x+4

the triangle area will be area = 1/2 ( base * height)

48 = 1/2 (x + 4) x

96 = x2 + 4x

96 + 4 = x2 + 4x + 4

100 = (x + 2)2

10 = x + 2 (for the square 100, we ignore the -10, minus is meaningless in length )

x = 8

x + 4 = 8 + 4 = 12

so the height for the triangle is 8 unit, base is 12 unit,

Explanation:

This is a 30-60-90 triangle. The short leg 5 is opposite the smallest angle 30 degrees.

The long leg is sqrt(3) times that of the short leg, which explains why x = 5*sqrt(3).

The hypotenuse is twice as long compared the short leg, so y = 2*5 = 10.

You could use trig ratios and the unit circle as another way to find x and y.

Answers

Answer:

(a) x = [tex]128^{o}[/tex]

(b) x = [tex]74^{o}[/tex]

Step-by-step explanation:

A. sum of angles in a polygon = (n - 2) 180

The polygon given is an irregular pentagon, where n = 5

So that;

sum of angles in a pentagon = (5 - 2) 180

                        = 3 x 180

                        = [tex]540^{o}[/tex]

Thus,

x + 90 + 76 + 110 + 136 = [tex]540^{o}[/tex]

x + 412 = [tex]540^{o}[/tex]

x = [tex]540^{o}[/tex] - 412

x = [tex]128^{o}[/tex]

B. The polygon given is an irregular pentagon, where n = 5.

Let the supplementary angle with angle 38 be represented by y,

y + 38 = 180

y = 180 - 38

  = [tex]142^{o}[/tex]

y = [tex]142^{o}[/tex]

Let the supplementary angle with x be represented by z, so that;

z + 72 + 120 + 100 + 142 = [tex]540^{o}[/tex]

z + 434 = [tex]540^{o}[/tex]

z = [tex]540^{o}[/tex] - 434

  = [tex]106^{o}[/tex]

z = [tex]106^{o}[/tex]

But, x + z = [tex]180^{o}[/tex]

Then;

x + [tex]106^{o}[/tex] = [tex]180^{o}[/tex]

x = [tex]180^{o}[/tex] - [tex]106^{o}[/tex]

  = [tex]74^{o}[/tex]

x = [tex]74^{o}[/tex]

Answer: (below)

Step-by-step explanation:

The functions shown are exponential functions, which have the form f(x) = a*(b)^x. "a" represents the intial value, while "b" represents the growth factor.

To determine whether a function is growing or decaying, you look at the growth factor. If the growth factor is greater than 1, the function is growing, since each value is getting larger and larger. Meanwhile, if the growth factor is between 0 and 1, the function is decaying, since each value is getting smaller and smaller.

Now, back to this question, let's look at our functions. In the function on the left, the growth factor is 0.87, which is between 0 and 1, so this function is decaying. For the function on the right, the growth factor is 1.25, which is greater than 1, so this function is decaying. Next, let's look at our graphs. In the left graph, the function is growing, so it matches with the function on the right. Meanwhile, in the right graph, the function is decaying, so it matches with the function on the left.

Joe Will need to pay a commission of [$7.50]. The Total amount Charged by the broker will be [$17.50]

Step-by-step explanation:

Joe will need to pay a commission of [tex]\$7.50[/tex] and Total amount charged by broker will be [tex]\$17.50[/tex].

What is commission ?

Commission is a form of money pay as remuneration for services rendered or products sold.

A.

We have,

Joe's current portfolio  [tex]=\$ 50,000[/tex]

Price of one stock [tex]=\$15[/tex]

So,

As his portfolio is less than [tex]\$100,000[/tex], he have to pay [tex]15\%[/tex] and [tex]\$10[/tex] trade fee,

So,

Price of [tex]50[/tex] shares [tex]=50*15=\$750[/tex]

Commission charge [tex]=1\%\ of\ 750[/tex]

                                  [tex]=\$7.5[/tex]

So, commission of [tex]\$7.5[/tex] will be paid.

B.

So,

Total amount charged by Broker [tex]=10+7.5=\$17.5[/tex]

Hence, we can say that Joe will need to pay a commission of [tex]\$7.50[/tex] and Total amount charged by broker will be [tex]\$17.50[/tex].  .
