Should abortion be legal?Explain your position

Answers

Answer 1
Abortion should be illegal unless you were raped and got pregnant by him. If your were the one who didn’t use protection, you have to face the consequences. If you can’t care for the child, put them up for adoption. At the point that you would start having symptoms of pregnancy would be after the baby has a heartbeat. The baby gets a heartbeat within 2 weeks. Pregnancy tests usually show up at 1 week. Symptoms usually show at 3 weeks. So by the time you would even find out that you are pregnant is already the time that the baby has a heartbeat..

How does the imagery in the following excerpt from the passage contribute to the author's discussion of different types of roads?

“Cars strung bumper to bumper to the horizon. Scowling faces inside. Kids crying in the back seat. I keep wishing there were some way to tell them something but they scowl and appear to be in a hurry”

The imagery is an example of the effects of long-distance travel.

The imagery is symbolic of his desire to escape from his own family.

The imagery provides contrast to the peaceful images of nature and the local people.

The imagery provides an example of the sorts of people you can find on a drip down country roads.

Answers

Answer:

It's A.

Explanation:

It's anything but B. The author has a desire to change what he sees in others. He has no desire to change himself so he looked like those he saw.

There's no mention of nature at all. None. There might be in surrounded sentences and paragraphs, but none in this passage. Not C.

Whoever wrote the question had no idea what country roads are like. I lived in a place where the population was 75. A big collection of cars was the 3 that sat in front of the post office waiting for their mail. Not D.

I don't like A much, but that is the answer. Cars that were lined up bumper to bumper is not so much of long distance travel as it is the frustration of not being able to move.

What does Clara do in Pygmalion?

Clara, a wealthy and snobbish girl who appears in Pygmalion, is the brother of Freddy, who marries Eliza Doolittle. Clara is tired of being restricted in today's society because she is a woman. Her fascination in H.G. Wells' novels inspires her to work in an abandoned furniture store.

Eliza and Clara are opposites since Eliza has no social standing and no manners but is a good person, whereas Clara appears to think herself better than others, especially when Eliza unintentionally broaches subjects that the Eynsford-Hill women find uncouth.

Eliza stays single and returns to Professor Higgins in the Pygmalion alternate ending instead of being married. Eliza is supposed to marry Freddy Eynsford-Hill in the original script. A purportedly "happy" ending with Eliza returning to Higgins was added to some of the play's film adaptations.

Thus, option A is correct.

Compare/contrast the endings to Acts 1, 2, and 3. Why do you think Miller structured the endings similarly? Explain.

Answers

Answer:

Acts one and two are both set in someone's place of residence; act one is in Parris's house above the parish, and act two is in the Proctor household.  In that sense, the setting is similar. They also are the scenes of various relationship strifes; in act one, Parris and Abigail fight, along with Abigail and her friends, and Abigail and Proctor, and then Proctor fighting with Parris and other assorted townsfolk--so, a lot of fighting goes on.  In act two, John and Elizabeth fight a bit, and we see further conflict in their relationship.  Mary Warren and Proctor fight, and then Proctor fights with the deputies that try to arrest Elizabeth and take her away.  Another similarity between the scenes is that Reverend Hale is there, questioning people and trying to hunt down witchcraft--in act one, he questions Tituba, in act two, he questions the Proctors.  One other comparison that can be made is that in both these acts, we see how the accusations start and get quite out of hand.  As soon as Tituba is "off the hook" for "confessing" to be a witch, Abby and all of her friends jump on the bandwagon, and it spirals out of control.  In act two, we see just how far out of control they have gotten.  Both acts are very tense, anxious, contentious, and dramatic in their moods.

Some differences between the acts are that in act two, it starts off as a civil, if awkward conversation between husband and wife, that soon spirals into an argument and full expressions of bitterness and mistrust.  However, we get to see a bit more of how the everyday functioning of their household works, and them at least trying to patch things up at the beginning. So the setting in act two at least starts off not being quite as dramatic; it is more personal and intimate.  As Reverend Hale questions the couple the conversation is more logical and sound than that of the questioning occurring of Tituba in act one.  Tituba's questioning was harried, rushed, forced, dramatic and intense.

Those are just some similarities and differences, and I hope that they help to get you thinking.  Good luck!

Answer:

The endings of acts 1, 2, and 3 of The Crucible are similar in that they all end by showing Abigail's power, and they differ in how they show Hale's commitment to the justice system.
