Answers

Answer:

Dear Max,

How are you these days? I know you are very busy with your work but, please just spend five minutes reading my letter and I'm sure you won't regret.

Recently, I've seen a film called "The Click". It's about a man who was always busy with his work, like you. He was so busy that he didn't have time for his family. But he wasn't a bad man at all, he just thought that earning a lot of money would bring happiness to his home. Until one day, a strange happened to him. He found a magic remote. By clicking on it, he could make time pass more quickly. At first, it happened to be a very good thing. He could help himself not hear the dog barking or avoid the argument with his wife by clicking on the remote. Then he used the remote all the time. He used it to replace the time he spent with his his family to the time he spent on work. However, he didn't know that he could never make time go back until he looked in the mirror and realized he had become such an old man! It was too late for him to fix anything: his wife had got married to another man because her husband spent too little time on her, his daughter was then a beautiful lady, his son was about to get married and his father was dead. Sadly, the last time his father saw him, he was busy with his work, which made his father really upset. He was so shocked to reckon all of this that he had a heart attach. Finally, the last words he said to his family were: "Family's got first".

I think the man in this movie is exactly you, fust go and see it, you will know that I'm right. You've spent too much time on working, my friend. Please take a rest and go out, have fun with your family. You only live once, so live your life now before it's too late!

Wish you and your family all the best.

Explanation:

He was unable to stay for the duration of the meeting as he had other business to attend to. Therefore, the correct option is D.

The phrase "unable to remain for the duration of the meeting" indicate that the person was unable to be there during the entire time the meeting was to take place. They had to leave early because they had other work or obligations to attend to.

This may mean that the person has to have other commitments before the meeting due to competing demands. This suggests that although his absence was necessary or desired for at least some of the meetings, it was necessitated by the urgent nature of his other commitments.

The experience helped me realize that I can be really confrontational, but I need to work on having a back-up plan.

If I had a similar experience I would have a better backup plan than I did, and would actually call the police.

Answer:

I'll place in my own personal opinion about this matter, my own story. You can add or subtract characters and pronouns later or completely mix up the story.

Describe a difficult experience that also involved others and how you handled it.

I remember that when I was back in college I had a best friend named Izaiah.  We were always calling each other, talking to each other, and hanging out when we were in college. However, I was studying the Bible with Jehovah Witness. And, I decided to become one of Jehovah's Witness.  We still kept hanging out. Until, one day I told Izaiah what I was up to. He seemed to be cool with it. But, then he told his mother. I know that because he tells his mother everything.

And, one day I got a text from him saying he didn't want to be my friend any more. I was sad because I considered him a close brother since my own brother doesn't love me. And, now the brother that I found, that I thought would understand me pushed me away. And, reading the words "I don't want to be your friend anymore", was sad. I told him so many things, I confided in him so many secrets and we shared so many things together. It was hurtful to my own heart.

What did the experience help you to realize about yourself

What the experience helped me realize about myself was that I was too trusting. I made friends too easily, without thinking if that friend would be a true and honest friend. I thought that everyone would accept me no matter my age, height, personality or even religion. But, I was wrong. I realized that if Izaiah was a true friend he would ask me about the religion if he had any doubts or would ask politely to not talk of any religious matters with him if the subject ever came up. Back then I was devastated, but I found that I have qualities that no one can take away from me and that is resilience, strength and courage.

If you had a similar experience again, what (if anything) would you do differently?

If I had to do anything differently it would be that I would not be friends with so quickly with someone because then I'd get emotionally attached too soon. Also, I would ask next time a person unfriends me the reason why they are unfriending me, the purpose behind their motives. So, we can keep connecting through other means if they don't want to end the friendship. Also, I'd try to let out the hurt feelings I have inside because I didn't have the chance to tell him the hurt I felt, and I kept that hurt for many months inside me and months turned to years.

Why does the Cyclops invite Odysseus back to the island?

He realizes that Odysseus was destined to take his eye.
He wants to obey the Greek custom of providing food and shelter to guests.
He fears far more harm will come to him if does not befriend Odysseus.
He wants to take revenge on Odysseus.

Answers

Answer:

He realizes that Odysseus was destined to take his eye.

Explanation:

The epic narrative "The Odyssey" by Homer is about the journey of Odysseus and his men after the Battle of Troy. Their journey would lead them through encounters with mortals, gods, demons, monsters, etc. testing their very being.

In the given excerpt from the epic, the Cyclops admitted that Odysseus was destined to inflict the physical wound in his eye. He revealed, ". . . he foretold for time to come: my great eye lost, and at Odysseus' hands. . ." But what he didn't expect was that Odysseus would be "small, pitiful and twiggy". Nevertheless, he accepted his fate and invited Odysseus to come back to the island.

Thus, the correct answer is the first option.

The Wind in the Willows
by Kenneth Grahame (excerpt)

The Mole was tremendously interested and excited, and followed [the Toad] eagerly up the steps and into the interior of the caravan. The Rat only snorted and thrust his hands deep into his pockets, remaining where he was.

It was indeed very compact and comfortable. Little sleeping bunks—a little table that folded up against the wall—a cooking-stove, lockers, bookshelves, a bird-cage with a bird in it; and pots, pans, jugs and kettles of every size and variety.

“All complete!” said the Toad triumphantly, pulling open a locker. “You see—biscuits, potted lobster, sardines—everything you can possibly want. Soda-water here—baccy there—letter-paper, bacon, jam, cards and dominoes—you'll find,” he continued, as they descended the steps again, “you'll find that nothing what ever has been forgotten, when we make our start this afternoon.”

“I beg your pardon,” said the Rat slowly, as he chewed a straw, “but did I overhear you say something about ‘WE,’ and ‘START,’ and ‘THIS AFTERNOON?’”

“Now, you dear good old Ratty,” said Toad, imploringly, “don't begin talking in that stiff and sniffy sort of way, because you know you've GOT to come. I can't possibly manage without you, so please consider it settled, and don't argue—it's the one thing I can't stand. You surely don't mean to stick to your dull fusty old river all your life, and just live in a hole in a bank, and BOAT? I want to show you the world! I'm going to make an ANIMAL of you, my boy!”

“I don't care,” said the Rat, doggedly. “I'm not coming, and that's flat. And I AM going to stick to my old river, AND live in a hole, AND boat, as I've always done. And what's more, Mole's going to stick to me and do as I do, aren't you, Mole?”

“Of course I am,” said the Mole, loyally. “I'll always stick to you, Rat, and what you say is to be—has got to be. All the same, it sounds as if it might have been—well, rather fun, you know!” he added, wistfully. Poor Mole! The Life Adventurous was so new a thing to him, and so thrilling; and this fresh aspect of it was so tempting; and he had fallen in love at first sight with the canary-coloured cart and all its little fitments.

The Rat saw what was passing in his mind, and wavered. He hated disappointing people, and he was fond of the Mole, and would do almost anything to oblige him. Toad was watching both of them closely.

“Come along in, and have some lunch,” he said, diplomatically, “and we'll talk it over. We needn't decide anything in a hurry. Of course, I don't really care. I only want to give pleasure to you fellows. ‘Live for others!’ That's my motto in life.”

Select the correct answer.
How does this excerpt describe the character of Rat?
A.
It shows his outspoken and charming nature.
B.
It shows that he prefers the familiar and ordinary.
C.
It shows that he is not very fond of Mole.
D.
It shows his dislike for tiring physical activities.

Answers

The correct answer is B. It shows that he prefers the familiar and ordinary.

Explanation

The fragment presents a scene in which a toad, a rat, and a Mole discuss the possibility of undertaking a new adventure. However, the rat did not want to go with the toad and the mole since his attitude was "The Rat only snorted and thrust his hands deep into his pockets, remaining where he was". Later, he apologizes to the toad because he did not want to be included in that plan, as expressed by saying “I beg your pardon,” said the Rat slowly, as he chewed a straw, “but did I overhear you say something about ‘WE,’ and ‘START,’ and ‘THIS AFTERNOON?’”

Additionally, he shows his preference by saying “I'm not coming, and that's flat. And I AM going to stick to my old river, AND live in a hole, AND boat, as I've always done. "According to the above, it can be established that the rat did not want to embark on an adventure with the mole and the toad because he preferred to continue his life ordinarily as he had always done in the places that were familiar to him.

“The hermit lived in a wood which he never quitted, and he received none but common folk. So the King put on simple clothes, and before reaching the hermit's cell dismounted from his horse, and, leaving his body-guard behind, went on alone.”
“When the King approached, the hermit was digging the ground in front of his hut. Seeing the King, he greeted him and went on digging. The hermit was frail and weak, and each time he stuck his spade into the ground and turned a little earth, he breathed heavily.”
“The King went up to him and said: ‘I have come to you, wise hermit, to ask you to answer three questions: How can I learn to do the right thing at the right time? Who are the people I most need, and to whom should I, therefore, pay more attention than to the rest? And, what affairs are the most important, and need my first attention?’”

He noticed an exponential relationship between how long his videos have been posted and the number of times each video has been viewed.Jonas took the natural logarithm for the numbers of views only, and he noticed a linear relationship between the how long his videos have been posted and the transformed numbers of views. Here's the least-squares regression equation for the transformed data, where "time" represents days since posting, and "views" is the number of views.\widehat{\ln(\text{views})}=0.77(\text{time})+2.90 ln(views) =0.77(time)+2.90According to this model, what is the predicted number of views on a video that's been posted for 222 days? Can someone help me answer this, thanks
