Read the excerpt from "A Latina Judge's Voice" by Hon. Sonia Sotomayor.

Let us not forget that between the appointments of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor in 1981 and Justice Ginsburg in 1992, eleven years passed. Similarly, between Justice Kaye's initial appointment as an Associate Judge to the New York Court of Appeals in 1983, and Justice Ciparick’s appointment in 1993, ten years elapsed. Almost nine years later, we are waiting for a third appointment of a woman to both the Supreme Court and the New York Court of Appeals and of a second minority, male or female, preferably Hispanic, to the Supreme Court. In 1992 when I joined the bench, there were still two out of 13 circuit courts and about 53 out of 92 district courts in which no women sat. At the beginning of September of 2001, there are women sitting in all 13 circuit courts. The First, Fifth, Eighth and Federal Circuits each have only one female judge, however, out of a combined total number of 48 judges. There are still nearly 37 district courts with no women judges at all. For women of color the statistics are more sobering. As of September 20, 1998, of the then 195 circuit court judges, only two were African-American women and two Hispanic women. Of the 641 district court judges, only twelve were African-American women and eleven Hispanic women. African-American women comprise only 1.56% of the federal judiciary and Hispanic-American women comprise only 1%. No African-American, male or female, sits today on the Fourth or Federal circuits. And no Hispanics, male or female, sit on the Fourth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, District of Columbia or Federal Circuits.

Sort of shocking, isn't it? This is the year 2002. We have a long way to go. Unfortunately, there are some very deep storm warnings we must keep in mind. In at least the last five years the majority of nominated judges the Senate delayed more than one year before confirming or never confirming were women or minorities. I need not remind this audience that Judge Paez of your home Circuit, the Ninth Circuit, has had the dubious distinction of having had his confirmation delayed the longest in Senate history. These figures demonstrate that there is a real and continuing need for Latino and Latina organizations and community groups throughout the country to exist and to continue their efforts of promoting women and men of all colors in their pursuit for equality in the judicial system.

HURRY PLS I DONT WANNA FAIL THE TESTTTT

Answers

Answer: Teachers vs. Students

Explanation:

There was no need to put an apostrophe next to "students" in the sentence as it implies that the students own the basketball game which is not the case. They are simply a team playing against another team and like the "Teachers" in the sentence, the apostrophe is a mistake.

For instance, when talking about a game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, there would be no need to include an apostrophe after either of them.

Answer:D

Explanation:took test

The idea emphasized by the connotations of the underlined words is that all aspects of women's lives are affected by the poor treatment they receive. The words "unhealthy" and "undesirable" carry negative connotations and suggest a harmful environment for female artists. Thus, option C is correct.

What is connotation?

Connotation refers to the emotional or cultural associations that words carry beyond their literal meaning. These associations can be positive, negative, or neutral, and are influenced by factors such as personal experience, cultural context, and historical usage.

For example, the word "home" may have positive connotations of comfort, safety, and belonging, while the word "prison" may have negative connotations of confinement, punishment, and isolation.

What does the creature want from Frankenstein? Why? Support your answer with evidence from the text.

Answers

Answer:

The creature wants acceptance from Frankenstein at first. As Frankenstein's creation, the creature hoped his creator would accept him. After Frankenstein rejected him, the creature hoped to find acceptance in the world. It is clear that no one will, especially after thinking he could befriend William Frankenstein, an innocent child he thought would accept him.

So, the creature decides that he wants someone like him who can love and accept him like how others humans do to each other. He wants Frankenstein to create a female companion for him, so he won't be alone in this world and can have someone to accept and who can accept him.

Explanation:

Sorry that I do not have the textual evidence to back this up - I do like this story a lot and have done two classes on it so I should really consider buying a copy of the novel. Regardless, I hope this helps!!!

Answer:

In Frankenstein Mary Shelley explores human nature, but she does not merely demonstrate that humans can be vicious and cruel. Through the experiences of the creature, Mary Shelley shows that all living beings can be monstrous when they fall prey to prejudice and hate. However, that same being can be good-hearted when it is influenced by love and compassion.

Through the creature’s experiences with the De Lacey family, Mary Shelley exposes the limits of human love, which may not extend beyond the family.

The creature, which is not really human, shows a greater capacity for forgiveness than any of the human characters in the novel. For example, after the De Lacey family drives him away, the creature still makes an effort to rescue a drowning girl.

The monster’s love of nature gives him a compassionate and caring heart. The monster expresses his love of nature, and it comforts him at several points in the story: “My spirits were elevated by the enchanting appearance of nature; the past was blotted from my memory, the present was tranquil, and the future gilded by bright rays of hope and anticipations of joy."

As the monster gets closer to humans, he grows more despondent: "I had admired the perfect forms of my cottagers—their grace, beauty, and delicate complexions: but how was I terrified when I viewed myself in a transparent pool!"

Before the monster meets humans, he feels a universal love for living things. He chooses to be a vegetarian. It is only when he encounters human hatred that he loses his love and compassion.

Only Answer If You Can Truly Help and I'll Give You Brainliest). A debatable topic, one that has two or more sides. It should be a topic that's appropriate for educational purposes and that would interest a broad audience. Consider choosing a topic on which people can take action. You may choose from these topics: 1) violence in video games or movies does or does not influence young people. 2) Using animals as test subjects for medications is ethical or unethical. 3) Argue what is the best way to reduce homelessness in the United States. 4) Green energy is or is not a realistic alternative to fossil fuels. 5) Choose a local issue such as funding cuts or increases for public services like libraries, parks, police, or fire service. 6) Choose a local issue such as homelessness, environmental problems ( waste, water shortages, etc. ) or lack of mental health services. Or, if a different topic comes to mind and meets the criteria, you may use it. Once you have chosen a topic, do a quick online search to see if there is enough information available about it. If the topic is so broad that you think you cannot do it justice in a single paper, try narrowing it. One way to narrow a topic is to ask yourself questions to which you would like to learn the answers. For example, suppose the broad topic is this: Alternative medicines - helpful, unhelpful, or harmful? You might write down questions that make you curious, for example: 1) What types of alternatives medicines exist? 2) What ailments are alternative medicines claimed to be effective for? 3) What studies have been done about alternative medicines? 4) What results have doctors and patients reported? Such questions can guide your research. 1) Write your topic. 2) Write two or more questions that you would like answered about your topic. 3) If you wish to narrow your topic, write the narrow version here. 4) Phrase your topic as a research question that your project will answer. Read the excerpt from Jawaharlal Nehru’s speech "A Tryst with Destiny.”

The future beckons to us. Whither do we go and what shall be our endeavour? To bring freedom and opportunity to the common man, to the peasants and workers of India; to fight and end poverty and ignorance and disease; to build up a prosperous, democratic and progressive nation, and to create social, economic and political institutions which will ensure justice and fullness of life to every man and woman.

We have hard work ahead. There is no resting for any one of us till we redeem our pledge in full, till we make all the people of India what destiny intended them to be.

We are citizens of a great country, on the verge of bold advance, and we have to live up to that high standard.

When we receive a text, we read it, make observations and summarize it in our minds. After this we then use the information gathered to make inferences which would enable us understand the meaning of the message.

We will then be able to formulate a reply based on the inferences made about what the text could mean. This process can happen really fast and is the reason texting can happen in relatively huge volumes in a short period of time.
