Read the poem.
The Song of Wandering Aengus
by William Butler Yeats
I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.
When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire a-flame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And someone called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.
Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done,
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.

Casey at the Bat: A Ballad of the Republic Sung in the Year 1888 by Ernest Lawrence Thayer Poetry, 1888
Introduction
Ernest Thayer (1863–1940) was an American poet who published the poem “Casey at the Bat” in The San Francisco Examiner under the pseudonym “Phin.” The poem’s anonymity and association with DeWolf Hopper, who recited it 10,000 times on the vaudeville stage, led to many false claims about its authorship, and only reluctantly did Thayer eventually step forward to claim the poem as his own. By then, it had become firmly imprinted on the American imagination as the quintessential baseball poem, full of hope, drama, bravado, defeat, and humor. Though some readers may be unfamiliar with at bats and innings, everyone can relate to the final sentiment: “there is no joy in Mudville—mighty Casey has struck out.”

Describe one major INTERNAL conflict in the book "refugee" and how it was resolved.
Answer:
The main conflict in the book Refugee by Alan Gratz is that between the three children and the regimes from which they're trying to escape. Adults would find such a conflict difficult to resolve, but as children, Josef, Isabel, and Mahmoud find it especially hard.
The distinction between the two is important… So, refugees and IDPs have each fled home to survive. Refugees have crossed an international border to find safety. Internally displaced persons (IDPs) have found safety somewhere within their own country

Read the excerpt from the story Animals in the Zoo.
It was time for Ryan's mom to examine the tamarins, so they headed to the Primate Discovery Center. They walked into the veterinarian's room so that his mother could examine the tamarins. The public wasn't allowed to see them until Ryan's mother had looked them over and made sure they were healthy. The room was white, very sterile, and looked like an operating room that you would see on TV. Ryan's eyes widened and a look of uneasiness crossed his face. He was scared, and his mother noticed right away.
"Don't worry, we won't be operating on the tamarins today. We are just checking their health and looking at their eyes, ears, and hands during this visit. We want to make sure they are healthy enough to be put into their enclosure," she said. Just then, a zoo employee brought in the two tamarins, and Ryan immediately understood why they were called cotton-top tamarins. They had white tufts of hair on top of their heads. The zoo employee told Ryan and his mom that these two tamarins were the first of many to come to the zoo. If these two stayed healthy and appeared to be happy in their enclosure, the zoo would be able to get even more tamarins to fill the exhibit which is why they wanted to make sure they had an expert come in to examine them.
Read the excerpt from the story Winter Driving.
As he came around a bend in the road, he could feel his tires slip and slide on the ice. But the ice wasn't his only problem. His eyes grew wide when he saw a small hill straight ahead. He scrunched his eyebrows as he concentrated on staying on the road. He worried for a minute since he was driving slowly and the ice on the road might prevent him from making it up the hill. He drove slowly until he got to the base of the hill. He started making his way up, but it wasn't long before his tires started to spin on the ice. He continued, slow and steady, squeezing the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles were turning white.
Eventually, Jesper made it to the top of the hill. Phew, he thought. He pulled over so that he could release the steering wheel from his tight grasp. He squeezed his hands into fists a few times to get the blood flowing through his fingers once again. He took a few breaths and continued driving. The snow was still falling, and he knew he definitely didn't want to get stuck sleeping in his car. He had come this far, and he was determined to make it all the way home.
Select the evidence that shows the difference in what helps the characters in Animals in the Zoo and Winter Driving overcome their fear.

Writing prompt: Write an argumentative essay for or against maintaining traditional coming-of-age ceremonies, such as a bar mitzvah or a quinceañera. Help?
Answer:
Do you have any traditional coming-of-age ceremonies, such as a bar mitzvah or a quinceañera? Well good for you! I believe we should maintain these beautiful traditions for many reasons. They can be fun, and especially awarding; how accomplishing it would feel to know that you have completed a large step in life! But let’s talk about some of the traditions and what they are.
First, what’s a bar mitzvah? It is the religious initiation ritual of a Jewish boy who has passed the age of 13 and is considered able to follow religious precepts and qualified to take part in public worship. And widely celebrated by Latinos, the quinceañera represents a significant landmark in the life of a girl. Part birthday celebration, part rite of passage, it symbolizes a girl's entry into womanhood as she turns 15.
Now we can discuss why we should always maintain them. First of all, they are quite significant. They have great significance behind them. Growing up is a very important part of life, which is what these traditions honor. And these events can be enjoyable, and they can be especially accomplishing. But there's another justification for this as well.
Secondly, these cultural traditions are very beautiful. For example, the quinceañera is a very pretty thing to see, because they find very beautiful dresses and outfits to wear, and the bar/bat mitzvah with the fancy Torah scroll! However, although the quinceañera is a pretty sight to see, I do believe the meaning of it is quite peculiar. Apparently, the point is to celebrate going into womanhood, and the readiness of marriage. But I do believe that 15 is too young to be considered a grown woman and be ready for marriage. But as long as they don’t rush the girl that is being celebrated into all of that, I do believe the tradition should be continued.
In conclusion, I agree that these cultural traditions can endure as long as the boys and girls who are celebrated do not hurry into activities that are more suitable for older individuals, such as the quinceañera and the readiness to marry. So what do you make of that? Do you agree these traditions are worth maintaining?
