.Who does Thoreau believe is to blame for the injustice? What does he believe people should do regarding the injustice in America?

Answers

Answer: The people of the US and their government

Explanation:

Thoreau argues that the United States' invasion of Mexico is immoral and that Americans who support the government with their person (as soldiers) or property (through taxes) are complicit in that injustice. He would further say that a person should go to jail rather than be responsible for that invasion.

In practice, the opponents to reform in Massachusetts are not the Southern politicians everyone blames for extreme conservativism. Rather, they are the people who passively tolerate the status quo: merchants and farmers in Massachusetts who are not willing to fight for justice at any cost.

Thoreau declared that if the government required people to participate in injustice by obeying “unjust laws,” then people should “break the laws” even if they ended up in prison. “Under a government which imprisons any unjustly,” he asserted, “the true place for a just man is also a prison.”

During Reconstruction who took over Southern state governments? Why would this be troubling to Republicans in Congress

Answers

Answer:

During the Reconstruction period of 1865–1877, federal law provided civil rights protection in the U.S. South for freedmen, the African Americans who had formerly been slaves. In the 1870s, Democrats gradually returned to power in the Southern states, sometimes as a result of elections in which paramilitary groups intimidated opponents, attacking blacks or preventing them from voting. Gubernatorial elections were close and disputed in Louisiana for years, with extreme violence being unleashed during the campaigns. In 1877, a national compromise to gain Southern support in the presidential election resulted in the last of the federal troops being withdrawn from the South. White Democrats had regained political power in every Southern state. These conservative, white, Democratic Redeemer governments legislated Jim Crow laws, which segregated black people from the white population, and upheld them constitutionally as “separate but equal” rights

Explanation:

Radical Republicans wanted to punish the South for starting the war. They also wanted to be sure new governments in the southern states would support the Republican Party.

____ means the government can only do exactly what is written in the constitution.
A. Tarriff
B. Loose Construction
C. Strict Construction

Answers

Answer: Strict Construction

Explanation: This answer is kind of obvious. A tariff is a tax on imported goods, so it has nothing to do with the Constitution. Loose Construction is what Federalists/Hamiltonians believed in, and ultimately what was Hamilton's case in having the national bank formed. Strict Construction was Jefferson & Madison's rebuttal to the National Bank, stating that because the National Bank was not stated in the Constitution, Hamilton couldn't fund/found the bank.

Answer (C) strict construction

Answer:

The Mauryan and Gupta Empires' political unity and internal peace encouraged the expansion of trade networks in India. During Ashoka's reign, the government built major roadways, and the Mauryan international network of trade expanded.

Explanation:

To answer the last question, I wouldn’t support it.
The Caste System was very unfair to the bottom ranks. Some of them lower ranks were disrespected so much people wouldn’t even look or be near them because they were given the worst jobs. It’s a very unfair system, and to chang to it would just bring a lot of unfairness and cruelty to some people.

Once aboard, the explorers set sail and used maps to navigate through known territory. The maps were not useful when sailors could not see land or when they were in unknown territory. How would they navigate across the vast Atlantic Ocean without any land markers to guide them? This problem led to the invention of navigation equipment. Compasses have a magnetized metal needle that always points north. Sailors use them as a point of reference to tell if their ship is in the right position to move forward. In order to find their location, sailors used astrolabes, sextants, cross staffs, or quadrants to find latitude. With these tools, explorers were able to sail on to discover new lands.

Explanation:

In mythology Zeus, Poseidon, and his siblings weren’t the first immortals. Or even the second. First came Chaos, then Gaia, then the Titans, who finally gave birth to the Olympian gods that most people know.

King Sisyphus desperately needed fresh water for the people of Corinth. When he was trying to figure out a solution he saw Zeus carrying the river spirit. Soon after he saw the river god, Asopus looking for his daughter, the river spirit. The king said he would only say where she was if he was given freshwater. Asopus made a stream of fresh water and the king told what direction Zeus went off with the river spirit. He knew that Zeus would be furious when he heard this and he was, when he found out he ordered his brother Hades to take king Sisyphus to the underworld. The King whispered to his wife, "When they tell you I am dead, do not put a gold coin under my tongue," and she did what she was told. Hades had to actually meet the king because he was a very important person, at the River Styx. Since no gold coin was placed under his tongue he was not able to go cross the river without money. When Hades asked Sisyphus where his coin was was he replied back saying that his wife was too cheap to pay for the passage. Hades said back in shock to go get the money and he was magically well again on Earth. He told his wife what happened and laughed at what he told her but they didn't speak of it again because you never know when the gods might be listening.

During Reconstruction who took over Southern state governments? Why would this be troubling to Republicans in Congress (think)?

Answers

These conservative, white, Democratic Redeemer governments legislated Jim Crow laws, which segregated black people from the white population, and upheld them constitutionally as “separate but equal” rights.

Federal Aid

The federal government adopted a policy of providing arable land to former black slaves during the last stages of the American Civil War in 1865. They were freed as a result of the advance of the Union armies into the territory previously controlled by the Confederacy, particularly after Major General William Tecumseh Sherman’s March to the Sea. General Sherman’s Special Field Orders, No. 15, issued on January 16, 1865, provided for the land, while some of its beneficiaries also received mules from the army for plowing. The policy became known as “forty acres and a mule.”

The Special Field Orders issued by Sherman were never intended to represent an official policy of the U.S. government with regard to all former slaves. Andrew Johnson, who succeeded President Lincoln after the assassination, revoked Sherman’s orders and returned the land to its previous white owners. Because of this, the phrase “forty acres and a mule” has come to represent the failure of Reconstruction policies in restoring to African Americans the fruits of their labor.

During this time, the federal government also attempted to provide aid to black Southerners through the Freedmen’s Bureau. The bureau was created through the Freedmen’s Bureau Bill, which was initiated by President Abraham Lincoln, and was intended to last for one year after the end of the Civil War. On March 3, 1865, Congress passed the bill to aid former slaves through legal food and housing, oversight, education, health care, and employment contracts with private landowners.

At the end of the war, the Freemen’s Bureau’s main role was providing emergency food, housing, and medical aid to refugees; it also helped reunite families. Later, it focused its work on helping the freedmen adjust to their condition of freedom by setting up work opportunities and supervising labor contracts. It soon became, in effect, a military court that handled legal issues. The bureau distributed 15 million rations of food to African Americans, and set up a system in which planters could borrow rations in order to feed freedmen they employed.

The most widely recognized of the Freedmen’s Bureau’s achievements is its accomplishments in the field of education. Prior to the Civil War, no Southern state had a system of universal state-supported public education. Freedmen had a strong desire to learn to read and write. They had worked hard to establish schools in their communities prior to the advent of the Freedmen’s Bureau. By 1866, missionary and aid societies worked in conjunction with the Freedmen’s Bureau to provide education for former slaves.

The bureau faced many challenges despite its good intentions, efforts, and limited successes. By 1866, it was attacked by Southern whites for organizing blacks against their former masters. That same year President Andrew Johnson, supported by Radical Republicans, vetoed a bill for an increase of power for the bureau. Many local bureau agents were hindered in carrying out their duties by the opposition of former Confederates, and lacked a military presence to enforce their authority.
