Answer 1

This is something you would do through trial and error. At least, that's the approach I took. I'm not sure if there is any algorithm to solve. The solution I got is shown in the attached image below. There are probably other solutions possible. The trick is to keep each number separate but not too far away so that the other numbers to be filled in later don't get too crowded to their neighbor.

Side note: any mirror copy of what I posted would work as well since you can flip the page around and it's effectively the same solution.

Convert -(3)^1/2 - i to polar form

Answers

Answer:

2(cos30°+isin30°)

Step-by-step explanation:

Complex value z is written in a rectangular form as z = x+iy where (x, y) is the rectangular coordinates.

On converting the rectangluar to polar form of the complex number;

x = rcosθ and y = rsinθ

Substituting in the rectangular form of the comlex number above;

z = rcosθ + irsinθ

z = r(cosθ+isinθ)

r is the modulus of the complex number and θ is the argument

r =√x²+y² and θ = tan⁻¹y/x

Given the complex number in rectangular form z = -(3)^1/2 - i

z = -√3 - i

x = -√3 and y = -1

r = √(-√3)²+(-1)²

r = √3+1

r = √4

r = 2

θ = tan⁻¹ (-1/-√3)

θ = tan⁻¹ (1/√3)

θ = 30°

Hence the complex number in polar form will be z = 2(cos30°+isin30°)

Two cards are selected at random from a standard deck of cards. What is the probability that you select a king or a queen? (If your answer will reduce, you should reduce it.) Also show you're work

Answers

Answer:

2/13

Step-by-step explanation:

In a standard deck of cards, there are 52 cards total, 4 kings, and 4 queens.

Probability is calculated by (number of favorable outcomes)/(number of possible outcomes), so our probability would be 8/52, which can be simplified to 2/13.

Can someone please explain how to get the answer i've looked it up several times and i'm still stuck. I'm in algebra 2 with trig and doing my summer math packet: "The length of a rectangle is two feet less than four times the width. Find the length and width if the area is 38.2 square feet. let w= width of the rectangle" Btw websites say w is 19.1 but my answer key says its 3.35. Thanks!

Answers

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let L be the length of this rectangle

The length of a rectangle is 2 feet less than four times the width

● L+2 = 4w

The area of this rectangle is 38.2 ft^2

● L*w = 38.2

The system of equations is

L+2 = 4w => L-4w =2

L*w = 38.2 => L= 38.2/w

Replace L by 38.2/w in L-4w =2

● L-4w = 2

● (38.2/w)-4w = 2

●(38,2-4w^2)/w = 2

● 38.2-4w^2 = 2w

● 38.2-4w^2-2w = 0

● -4w^2-2w+38.2 =0

Multiply by -1 to reduce the - signs

● 4w^2+2w-38.2 =0

This is a quadratic equation so we will use the discriminant

□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□

The discriminant is b^2-4ac

● b= 2 (2w)

● a= 4 (4w^2)

● c= -38.2 (the constant term)

b^2-4ac =2^2-4*4*(-38.2) = 615.2 > 0

The discriminant is positive so we have two solutions w and w' :

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

w= (-2-24.8)/8 = -3.35

24.8 is the root square of 615.2(the discriminant)

●w is negative

● a distance is always positive so this value isn't a solution

w'= (-2+24.8)/8 =2.85 > 0

So this value is a solution for our equation

■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

w= 2.85 feet

Answer:

w=3.35

Step-by-step explanation:

The length of a rectangle is two feet less than four times the width:

length=4W-2

A=L*W

A=(4W-2)(W)

38.2=4W^2-2W

4W^2-2W-38.2=0  complete the square to find the solution add term(b/2)²

4W²-2W+1/4=38.2+1/4

4(W²-W/2+1/16)=38.45

4(w-1/4)^2=38.45

(w-1/4)²=38.45/4=9.6125

w-1/4=+ or -√9.6125 ( since it is width it has to be positive

w=√9.6125+1/4 = 3.35

Answers

Answer:

Third term=4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

C(n)=4/9(-3)^n-1

Find the third term

Let n=3

Substitute n=3 into the equation

C(n)=4/9(-3)^n-1

C(3)=4/9(-3)^3-1

Step 1: evaluate the power 3-1

C(3) = 4/9(-3)^2

Step 2: evaluate (-3)^2

C(3) = 4/9(9)

It can be rewritten as

C(3) = 4/9*9

9 numerator will strike 9 denominator out leaving 4

C(3)=4

Therefore, the third term=4

C(3)=4

Amy gets a new kennel for her dog. A sketch of the kennel is shown here. If the roof is in the shape of a triangular prism (bottom face included), what is the surface area of the roof of the kennel, including the bottom face?

Answers

Answer:

Surface area of the roof of the kennel, including the bottom face is 58.96 ft^2

Step-by-step explanation:

The image is attached below

For the triangular sides of the roof, area is

A = [tex]\frac{1}{2}bh[/tex]

where b is the base = 4 ft

h is the vertical height = 2.24 ft

A =  [tex]\frac{1}{2}*4*2.24 =[/tex] 4.48 ft^2

for the two faces we have 2 x 4.48 ft^2 = 8.96 ft^2

For the rectangular sections of the roof, area is

A = [tex]lh[/tex]

where [tex]l[/tex] is the length of the rectangle = 5 ft

h is the height of the rectangle = 3 ft

A = 5 x 3 = 15 ft^2

For the two rectangular faces, we have 2 x 15 ft^2 = 30 ft^2

For the bottom face, area is

A = [tex]lw[/tex]

where [tex]l[/tex] is the length of the house = 5 ft

w is the width of the house = 4 ft

A = 5 x 4 = 20 ft^2

Surface area of the roof of the dog kennel is

8.96 ft^2 + 30 ft^2 + 20 ft^2 = 58.96 ft^2

Find the 12th term of the arithmetic sequence whose common difference is d=6 and whose first term is a, = 2.

Answers

Answer:

The 12th term is 68

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the sequence is an arithmetic sequence

For an nth term in an arithmetic sequence

A(n) = a + ( n - 1)d

where a is the first term

n is the number of terms

d is the common difference

From the question

d = 6

a = 2

n = 12

So the 12th term of the sequence is

A(12) = 2 + (12-1)6

= 2 + 11(6)

= 2 + 66

A(12) = 68

dilate the given triangle with a magnitude of 3 [3 6 3 -3 3 3]

Answers

Answer:

The coordinates of the triangle, (3, 6), (3, -3), and (3, 3), dilated by a magnitude of 3 is;

(9, 18), (9, -9), and (9, 9)

Step-by-step explanation:

The vertices of the given triangle are;

(3, 6), (3, -3), and (3, 3)

A dilation with a magnitude of 3 can be found as follows;

For each value of the x, and y-coordinates of the vertices, we multiply by the magnitude of dilation

As an example, the coordinate of the points on a line, (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂), dilated by a scale factor of m, will become, (m·x₁, m·y₁) and (m·x₂, m·y₂)

Therefore, we have foe a magnitude of 3;

(3, 6), (3, -3), and (3, 3) becomes, (3×3, 3×6), (3×3, 3×(-3)), and (3×3, 3×3)

Answer:

y = 250

Step 1:

To solve, we plug in 50x for y.

Then, we subtract the 10x from the right side. Our goal is to get the x by itself first.

[tex]40x=200[/tex]

Then, we divide both sides by 40, since we have to get the x by itself.

Find the values of k so that the area of the triangle with vertices (1, -1), (-4,2k) and (-k, – 5) is 24 sq. units

Answers

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to find the value of k so that the triangle with vertices (1, -1), (-4,2k) and (-k, – 5) is 24 sq. units.

The area of triangle is given by :

[tex]A=\dfrac{1}{2}\times [x_1(y_2-y_3)-x_2(y_3-y_1)+x_3(y_1-y_2)][/tex]

Here,

x₁ = 1, y₁ = -1, x₂ = -4, y₂ = 2k, x₃ = -k and y₃ = -5

So,

[tex]24=\dfrac{1}{2}\times [1(2k-(-5))-(-4)((-5)-(-1))+(-k)((-1)-(2k))][/tex]

We need to solve the above equation,

[tex]48=[1(2k-(-5))-(-4)((-5)-(-1))+(-k)((-1)-(2k))][/tex]

On solving the above equation we get the value of k as :

k = 4.7

Answers

Answer:

3,500 tons

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that 1,400 tons is 2/5 of the Consolidated Brick Company's output.

This means that 1/5 must be equal to 700 tons if 2/5 is 1,400.

So, we can find the total output by multiplying 700 by 5, since 700 is 1/5 of the total.

700(5) = 3,500 tons
