HELP ASAPPPPPPP
Dear Editor,

I want to address the new peanut-free school policy that the school board passed at the last meeting. Parents at the PTA meeting were fired up. You could see groups of parents huddled together like angry wasps while angry phrases stung the air. The school board had implemented a peanut-free school zone to protect students with allergies.

One side felt like the school shouldn't be controlling what is brought to school for lunch. A peanut-free table in the lunchroom should be enough. Another side felt like they were fighting for their children's lives. A peanut allergy can be deadly; it is not something to be ignored because some children and parents felt it was unfair.

Life and death hang in the balance for some of these children; schools should be a safe place for ALL students. My little brother quit breathing after he had shared crayons with a child who had peanut butter at lunch. How would you feel if it was your little brother?

Is the speaker biased? Why or why not? Write your response in 2-3 sentences and use evidence from the text to support your answer.

Answers

Answer 1

Yes, the speaker is biased. They are sharing their own feelings towards this argument, and bringing in a personal expierence to the message. There are undertones of passive-aggressiveness, too. When they ask "How would you feel if it was your little brother?" they are siding with the parents who want everything to be peanut-free.

Hope that helps!

If A=40 degrees and B=25 degree’s calculate correct to one decimal place
I)tan (A-B)

Answers

The value of tan (A-B) correct to one decimal place is 0.3 (rounded off). Hence, the required answer is tan (A-B) = 0.3 (correct to one decimal place).

Given the angles A=40° and B=25°, we have to calculate tan (A-B) correct to one decimal place.

Since we know that tan (A-B) = (tan A - tan B) / (1 + tan A * tan B)......(1)

We can substitute the given values of angles A and B in equation (1) as shown below: tan (A-B) = (tan 40° - tan 25°) / (1 + tan 40° * tan 25°)......(2)

Using a scientific calculator, we can evaluate tan 40° and tan 25° as follows: tan 40° = 0.8391tan 25° = 0.4663

Substituting these values in equation (2), we get:tan (A-B) = (0.8391 - 0.4663) / (1 + 0.8391 * 0.4663)tan (A-B) = 0.3728 / 1.3919tan (A-B) = 0.2678

Therefore, the value of tan (A-B) correct to one decimal place is 0.3 (rounded off).

Hence, the required answer is tan (A-B) = 0.3 (correct to one decimal place).

The writer is considering changing the method of development used in sentences 20 and 21 (reproduced below) to provide a clearer line of reasoning for the audience.

My neighbor does not. My aunt does, but to obtain an acceptable ID, she would have to take a day off work, travel nearly one hundred miles, wait in line, pay the fee, and travel the one hundred miles home again.

Should the writer use a different method of development in sentences 20 and 21?

Yes, the writer should more clearly define what constitutes acceptable identification to help the audience understand why this type of identification can be difficult to attain.
Yes, the writer should provide a more detailed description about the specific ways in which new voting laws penalize certain populations.
No, because the writer uses comparison-contrast to discuss differences in circumstances between those who are able to obtain IDs and those who are not.
No, because the writer uses a cause-effect method of development to establish the relationship between the new voting laws and their effects on the writer’s aunt.

Answers

No, because the writer uses comparison contrast to discuss differences in circumstances between those who are able to obtain IDs and those who are not.

In sentences 20 and 21 the author employs a comparison contrast method of development to highlight the differences in the circumstances between their aunt and their neighbor who both struggle to obtain an acceptable ID.

The author is emphasizing how different people face different challenges in obtaining an acceptable ID and how new voting laws disproportionately affect particular populations. As a result, using a different method of development, like cause and effect or giving more in depth descriptions may not be as successful in getting your point across to the audience.

Bonus points: Explain the psychology of why it was not good enough to just escape? Does that imply having some level of morals?
Please don't answer with a sample response or just something random off the internet.

Answers

Answer

This took me a while

Explanation:

In "The Most Dangerous Game," the challenge between General Zaroff and Sanger Rainsford is to hunt each other on the isolated island. The story builds up with Rainsford trying to evade Zaroff while navigating the dangerous terrain and avoiding the traps set up by the General.

As the story progresses, Rainsford becomes convinced that he has won the game. He thinks he has outsmarted Zaroff by diving into the ocean and swimming back to the chateau while Zaroff continues to search for him. However, Rainsford is ultimately tricked by Zaroff, who had been waiting for him in his bedroom.

In the final scene, the reader is left to infer who slept in the bed that night. It is strongly implied that Rainsford is the one who slept in the bed, as there is no mention of Zaroff being present. The fact that Rainsford had "never slept in a better bed" than the one in Zaroff's bedroom suggests that he had won the game and survived the ordeal.

The psychology behind Rainsford's unwillingness to simply escape from the island can be attributed to his moral code and sense of honor. As a renowned hunter, he believes that it is his duty to stand up to Zaroff and put an end to his twisted game. Additionally, Rainsford's pride and competitiveness drive him to take on the challenge and try to outwit Zaroff.

In conclusion, "The Most Dangerous Game" is a story that keeps readers guessing until the very end. While Rainsford initially appears to have won the game, he ultimately falls prey to Zaroff's deception. However, his moral code and competitive nature ultimately drive him to emerge victorious and put an end to Zaroff's game.

The psychology behind Rainsford's reluctance to simply escape from the island can be attributed to his personality traits and values. Rainsford is a skilled hunter and a competitive person, who takes pride in his abilities. He has a strong sense of duty and responsibility, which makes him feel obligated to stand up to Zaroff and put an end to his twisted game.

Moreover, Rainsford's sense of moral code and ethics also come into play. He sees the hunt as a barbaric and unethical practice that should be stopped. He understands the danger that Zaroff poses to society and feels responsible for stopping him.

Another aspect that motivates Rainsford to continue the game is his desire to prove his worth and superiority over Zaroff. The challenge becomes personal for him, and he sees it as an opportunity to demonstrate his skills and intelligence.

In conclusion, Rainsford's decision not to escape from the island can be attributed to his competitive nature, sense of duty, moral code, and desire to prove his worth. He feels responsible for stopping Zaroff and putting an end to his barbaric game, which ultimately drives him to engage in the challenge rather than escaping from it.
