how does the poems use of imagery develop the theme of the poem? cite evidence from the text in your answer.

the poem:
My heart be brave, and do not falter so,
Nor utter more that deep, despairing wail.
Thy way is very dark and drear I know,
But do not let thy strength and courage fail;
For certain as the raven-winged night
Is followed by the bright and blushing morn,
Thy coming morrow will be clear and bright;
’Tis darkest when the night is furthest worn.
Look up, and out, beyond, surrounding clouds,
And do not in thine own gross darkness grope,
Rise up, and casting off thy hind’ring shrouds,
Cling thou to this, and ever inspiring hope:
Tho’ thick the battle and tho’ fierce the fight,
There is a power making for the right.

How have you seen the impact of inflation on the things you buy?

5 sentences
pls help meh

Answers

Answer:

Inflation increases the price of goods and services over time, effectively decreasing the number of goods and services you can buy with a dollar in the future as opposed to a dollar today. If wages remain the same but inflation causes the prices of goods and services to increase over time, it will take a larger percentage of your income to purchase the same good or service in the future. Here’s a chart of the inflation rate from the late 1600s to today. Notice that since the 1950s, the rate of inflation has been positive for nearly every year.

Explanation:

Inflation has impacted everyday life. Take for example milkshakes, you cannot see a picture from a cafe in the 80s or 90s without seeing a brightly colored poster starring a delicious looking milkshake and a little bubble with a price of 5/10 cents! Now days this is insane! We could probably buy a sip of the milkshake with a dime! This is because of inflation. Inflation is a continuous upward movement in the overall prices in society. Over time currency depreciates in value and it takes more of said currency to be worth something. Something most people don’t understand is the concept that things are not crazy more expensive than in the 80s, but the value of our money has became less. Inflation has impacted things I buy but not in the way I thought it had.

A Big Year
By Bob Kowalski

Would you go to the ends of the earth to see a bird? What if it were a really special bird: one with beautiful feathers, an entrancing call, or a silly dance? What if seeing that one special bird would allow you to win a contest?

If that contest doesn't get you on television or win you any cash prizes, would you still do it? For those who participate in the "Big Year," the honor of beating the previous record is the only reward they get or even want.

A "Big Year" is a year in which a person attempts to see as many different species of birds as possible within a particular region. For most in North America who participate in a "Big Year," this region is the lower 48 American states, plus Alaska, Canada, and a couple of French islands off the Canadian coast.

You may be thinking that looking at birds is silly, but just think about the numbers of the recent record holders and the commitment it takes to get these numbers. One recent "Big Year" winner managed to see 744 birds in one year, missing the record by just one bird. Big Year birders travel by train, plane, boat, car, bicycle, and of course, by foot. They can cover over 150 thousand miles to get numbers of sightings this high. They can also spend a small fortune.

Just to clarify, the birds these contestants are counting are the number that they see in a particular year. You see, the contest is based on an honor system. No pictures or other evidence is required as proof of a sighting. Most birders take great pride in their reputation and their abilities to see or hear and then identify a bird. Usually, important sightings of the rare birds needed to get counts in the 700s are visited by hundreds of birders. It is pretty hard to cheat your way to a record-breaking year, but in general, few are interested in cheating.

This honesty comes from the fact that most people who want to break such a record know the greatest rewards are not necessarily in winning. Such rewards are in being able to commit a year of your life to doing something you love. Rewards are found in seeing amazing, inspiring creatures like the California Condor or the Magnificent Frigate bird. Rewards also come in spending time with people who, like you, want to spend their time looking to the skies and trees for glimpses of emerald, crimson, or cerulean blue feathered jewels.

You don't have to be able to travel a continent to have a big birding experience though. Have a big month. Or a big weekend. Set a personal record, learn to identify the species that live in your part of the world, or try to learn the calls of just two species of birds. You will soon find looking at birds isn't such a strange way to spend your time.

Extra! Extra! Backyard Birding
Many schools, families, and young birders across the country participate in the "Great Backyard Bird Count." While not as long as a "Big Year," the "Great Backyard Bird Count" happens every year. It depends on birders and families across the country to watch feeders and other areas in their yards and count the number of birds they see. Unlike the "Big Year," the goal is not to see who can count the most birds. Instead, participants in this event work together to help bird experts get a good idea of how birds are doing. Participants are given checklists and enter their sightings on a website. Called a "citizen-science" project, this event is open to anyone, requires no travel, and happens every year over one weekend in February.

Cook an omelet in just a few easy steps. Begin to prepare the omelet mixture by blending two eggs and a 1/4 cup of milk until smooth. Next, set the temperature of a stovetop burner to medium-high and melt enough butter in a skillet to evenly coat the bottom and sides of the cooking surface. When the butter has just begun to brown, pour in the egg mixture. Allow the mixture to cook until it begins to pull away from the sides of the pan. Gently slide a spatula underneath the omelet at various points to free it from the pan. When the middle of the omelet is no longer runny, turn off the heat and allow the omelet to further solidify. Add your favorite ingredients--fresh tomatoes, cheese, and basil are recommended--and fold the omelet in half. No, I don't believe in luck because I believe everything happens for a reason. I am not superstitious because I'm confident and in control of my life as is. I believe some people are superstitious because they are afraid of the unknown. To counteract this, they for example, wouldn't open an umbrella inside of a house. (This is a commonly known superstition; furthermore, if you open an umbrella inside of a building you'll bring bad luck.) I believe, that through the people who believe in this, want to feel as though they are protecting themselves from bad outcomes. In reality all they are doing is trying to take control of the life they live.

What do you mean by Dialogue?

Dialogue is a communicative process in which individuals from diverse viewpoints seek to understand one another.

The two types of themes are thematic concepts and thematic statements, which refer to what the work says about the subject and what viewers "believe the work is about," respectively. These themes typically include conflicts between the individual and society, adolescence, people and technology, nostalgia, and the perils of unrestrained ambition.

Read the excerpt of Mr. Bedford’s first meeting with Mr. Cavor. What were your first impressions of the two characters? Take a moment to describe your thoughts about one of these characters in about 150 words. Be sure to use the details provided in the reading to support your conclusions.

Answers

Answer:

Word Count: 149

Explanation:

My first impression of Mr. Cavor is that he's a busy man. Of course in this passage, Mr. Cavor has already stated that his time for interaction is limited, but there are also other clues in the text that lead me to believe that. Before Mr. Bedford starts talking to Mr. Cavor the audience can already see that he's eyeing his watch. He also seems to be a very timid man, with him stuttering in a lot of his sentences. It could be that he's a bit nervous talking to Mr. Bedford, or maybe he has somewhere to be. Now Mr. Bedford on the other hand seems to be more of the attentive type. He states that he's been watching Mr. Cavor for thirteen days, which to me seems to be a little bit obsessive, but it could be possible that he just admires and appreciates Mr. Cavor deeply.
