Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

B. b.there was a succession of Japanese victories that saw numerous Allied outposts fall.

Explanation:

From 8 December 1941 till 8 May 1942, Japan went ahead to wage a war with The Phillippines. The war was known as the battle of the Phillippines, the Phillippines campaign, or the fall of the Phillippines. In that war, America joined forces with the Phillippines to fight off the Japanese soldiers. The Japanese launched their attack from the Formosa sea. Even though the defending side had a higher number of fighters, they were not all made up of well-trained soldiers.

Japan concentrated its soldiers and successfully conquered the Luzon area. The result of the war was that Japan won when it captured or killed about 23,000 American soldiers, and 100,000 Filipino soldiers.

The Treaty of Paris ended the Spanish-American War that saw the United States claim the Philippines, Guam and Puerto Rico as part of their territory. Also Cuba became independent of its colonizers(spain) which was mostly one of the reasons for the war as America fought to free them from the rule of Spain. How do you feel about the Three-Fifths Compromise? Was it a wise decision by the framers of the constitution to keep the nation united, or was it an unacceptable compromise even at the cost of the nation breaking up over the issue of slavery (as happened later during the Civil War (1861–1865)? Write a two-to-three paragraph response supporting your stand.

Answers

Answer:

I think the three-fifths compromise was a poor attempt to delay the inevitable. I think that it would have been better to address slavery sooner. I think it should have been adressed when the constituion and bill of rights were written. I understand that it would have been a divisive issue but if you claim that "All men are created equal" and then turn around and dehuminaze other people than it makes you a hypocrite becuase you cannot just pick and choose who is and who is not considered human.

The three-fifths compromise did not do anything for the rights of the slaves in fact it dehumanized them even more and caused the civil war to start even sooner. If they had at least counted everyone as a human not only would it have possibly delayed the war but there may have been a way to keep the plantation owerners happy by saying they would have to pay anyone who worked for them and could not abuse them. If the slaves were treated as an entire person then they would have gained the population needed for more representation. It would have also helped them get the freedom they desereved and possibly avoid the civil war. It would have also helped the southern economy to have a higher and eventually more educated population. One cause of the civil war was the signfict difference in the economies in the north versus the south.

How did European imperialism influence Asia? Low Chinese demand for European goods led British traders to deal in opium, creating addicts and triggering a war. Chinese merchants transported European goods from ports to the interior of China, strengthening the economies of Asia. European nations overthrew local leaders to establish a trade network, reducing the profits of the Chinese tea industry. Shipments of European silver flooded the Asian markets, devaluing local currencies and causing an economic depression.

Answers

Answer:

Low Chinese demand for European goods led British traders to deal in opium, creating addicts and triggering a war.

Explanation:

The Chinese had always restricted trade with Europe and were not interested in their goods.

However, when the British were willing to trade opium for silver, the Chinese were interested because silver was used in China for currency.

But, the Chinese began to become addicted to opium, leading the government to stop the trade, which caused the opium wars when the British were angry.

Answer:

Mexico has faced many problems throughout its history. A single political party dominated the political scene for most of the twentieth century. While the country became strong under single party rule, citizens could not participate freely in politics. Tribal minorities face violence and discrimination. Drug cartels wield considerable power, and organized crime and corruption is widespread.

In recent times, the government has used the military to fight drug-related and other organized crimes. However, the military has violated people's human rights, and many members of the military and police are linked to criminal groups. So, the country has not made much progress against crime.

Many of Mexico's criminal groups have international wings. The biggest markets for drugs are the United States and other Latin American countries. One solution to the drug problem would be for the government to clamp down on criminal activity by guarding the borders and placing more checks on foreign trade. Instead of using the military, the government should try to rebuild the police force with a strict selection process. The government should also encourage the media to expose organized crime, and it should pass laws to protect journalists.

Based on the information and images from the articles, fill in the following chart about why New Orleans was so badly damaged compared to the other communities in the Gulf region.

Answers

Answer:

THIS IS THE ACTUAL ANSWER SO PUT IT IN YOUR OWN WORDS!

Explanation:

Reason 1: The failure of the levees allowed water to rush into the city. Engineers originally designed the levees to withstand a direct hit from a level three hurricane, but Katrina was a level four hurricane.

Reason 2: New Orleans is a city located below sea level. As a result, any water that made it through the damaged levee inundated the city and was held in place by the remaining levee walls.

Reason 3: New Orleans sits on the Gulf of Mexico coast and is directly between Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River. So, once the levees failed, water rushed into the city, and within 24 hours of Katrina making landfall, 80 percent of New Orleans became flooded.

Low height from sea level and lack of barrier leads to great damage to New Orleans.

New Orleans was greatly damaged as compared to other communities in the Gulf region because of its low elevation and there is no natural defense in the way natural disasters such as storms etc. New Orleans is present at very low height from the sea level so the natural disasters can easily affected the New Orleans so we can conclude that lower elevation and lack of natural barrier causes more damage to New Orleans.
