Essay about Justice and Judgement

Answers

Answer:

To Kill A Mockingbird - An Essay On Justice

In the secret courts of men’s hearts justice is a beast with no appearance. It morphs to serve a different cause, and it bites a different person each time. In the cases of Tom Robinson, Bob Ewell, and Arthur Radley in the novel “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, justice is applied differently each time. Tom Robinson doesn’t meet an equitable end, with a death sentence over his head from the start. Justice isn’t in his favor in the stained prejudiced eyes and hearts of the people of Maycomb County. Bob Ewell tries to manipulate justice his own way, since he doesn’t believe that the justice he wanted was truly met. Even after Tom Robinson’s conviction, he still sets out after the people who degraded him. Arthur Radley is discriminated against by everyone in the county of Maycomb through malicious rumours and alienation. Arthur also seeks to put his own twist on vengeance, especially in the case of Bob Ewell, where he gave him the justice he deserved. Yet took no recognition. Justice and how it ties in with prejudice is the most evident theme in many different aspects in the novel “To Kill A Mockingbird”. In the cases of Tom Robinson, Bob Ewell, and Arthur Radley, moral rightness is received, and justice is served in it’s own sense for each character in the end.

In conclusion, “To Kill A Mockingbird” is a novel primarily set about racial inequality and how it affects justice. Tom is wrongly convicted of a crime he did commit, and he didn’t want to take white man’s chances and he ended up risking his own life. Bob Ewell puts a man’s life on the line when he accuses Tom Robinson to cover up his own faults. He seeks out revenge against everyone who degraded him, and in turn feels his final breath. Arthur Radley is treated with prejudice and injustice in Maycomb. He turns out to be an innocent man who helps put the pawn of justice on the chessboard when he ends Bob Ewell. So Justice is finally served in different senses for Tom Robinson, Bob Ewell, and Arthur Radley in the end.

Answers

Answer: B

Explanation: Sounds correct, using words to describe people and numbers to describe the time

Among all the given sentences, the one that expresses numbers correctly is: “I'll meet the three of you in the lobby for the 7:45 show.” Hence, option B is correct.

What are numbers?

An arithmetic value known as a number is used to represent a quantity and do calculations. Numbers are represented by written symbols, such as "3," which are referred to as numerals. A number system is a method of writing that uses logically ordered digits or symbols to represent numbers.

Those who argue that numbers exist assert that they exist outside of space and time. If numbers exist, they are typically what philosophers refer to as "abstract objects."

The arithmetic value of a number is one that is used to denote amount. As a result, a number is a mathematical concept used for counting, measuring, and labelling. As a result, mathematics is based on numbers.

Therefore, Option B  is correct.

Lincoln joined a volunteer company in the Black Hawk War in 1832. He served only three months in the war, and he never saw battle. Even so, Lincoln considered this event to be one of the greatest successes of his life. The men in his company elected him captain, and Lincoln was very proud of, yet humbled by, their confidence in him. How does this source add to the reader's understanding of Lincoln? It shows that he was frightened by battles and war. It shows that he took his leadership roles seriously. It shows that he had only a few successes in his life. It shows that he had too much confidence in himself.

Answers

Answer:

This source adds to the reader's understanding of Lincoln in the sense that:

B. It shows that he took his leadership roles seriously.

Explanation:

According to the passage, one of the reasons why Lincoln considered his time in the war successful was the fact that he was elected captain by the men in his company. That already shows Lincoln values his role as a leader. But the passage also makes a point of mentioning that he was "very proud of, yet humbled by, their confidence in him." This information lets us know that he was not an overly confident men. Maybe he wouldn't have volunteered himself to become a captain but, since the men trusted him, he was happy to do it. With that in mind, we can choose letter B as the best option:

B. It shows that he took his leadership roles seriously.

Daily dilemma:
*You are a switchman in this example* There is a runaway trolley barreling down the railway tracks. Ahead, on the tracks, there are five people tied up and unable to move. The trolley is headed straight for them. You are standing some distance off in the train yard, next to a lever. If you pull this lever, the trolley will switch to a different set of tracks. However, your kid is tied down to this second set of tracks. What will you do? (For this one, feel free to choose either one of the two generic options, or get creative within reason)

Answers

The classic Trolley problem

It's been told and retold, with different variations, jokes, and ideas built on top of it. It's a great question in my opinion, it really does show where one's heart and ideas lie. Would you sacrifice the lives of strangers to save those you love? Or would you value the lives of these innocent people, with their own loved ones and stories ahead?

In reality, I don't think I've ever answered it for myself, but right now, for the sake of the question, I would go with saving my child. If I were a parent faced with this problem, hit in the heat of the moment with no time to think, derailing the track to kill the five in order to save my child would be my first instinct.

"Getting creative within reason" is very interesting. Obviously, people have tried to find loopholes in the original question—untying your child and setting the path that way, jumping in front of the train, stopping the trolley altogether. I don't have anything to add here, but I'm interested to see what others might come up with, and what dictates 'out of reason'.

— I hope this helps. Have a stellar day

Answer:

Assuming that the train could stop once done, I'd try and sacrifice myself. I would never be able to risk 5 innocent lives in return for my kid, nor would I want to lose my kid so five people could live. So, at the expense of my child's happiness, I'd jump in front of the train so all 6 people could be saved.

If the train can't be stopped, I'm sure it would be any parent's instinct to save their child. Five lives compared to a kid might seem like the easiest decision to make in the world. But as someone who's really indecisive and would never want to be in a scenario like this, the blood would be on my hands either way. I'd never be able to get over my kid dying and would want to save them, but I'd have to realize that those five people probably have their own family too, and I don't want to be responsible for hurting them like that. I also don't know how old they are, so some could be 80, some could be 5, or there could be whole range of ages, all of them having a whole life ahead of them.

But in all honesty, I'd probably save my kid. The love I'd have towards my own child would be nothing compared to that of five strangers, no matter now much of a "good" person I am. My choice may linger in the back of my mind for the rest of my life, but at least I'd have my kid with me
