Based on Source 1, describe capitalism in your own word

Answers

Answer 1

So Capitalism is an economic system where a country's trade, industry, and profits are not controlled by the government.

Each person using their own definition of capitalism make constructive discussion of it impossible. To discuss capitalism honestly, it requires a mutually agreed upon definition, which absent an explicit agreement to the contrary would normally be Webster’s. According to Webster’s, capitalism is “an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market.”

If your definition is different from the above, as in many of the answers here, then you are talking about something different than capitalism, by it’s normal definition. Very different, in the case of the left wing answers here. Which means you’re just talking past people instead of to them, arguing against something nobody is arguing for. That’s called a “strawman argument” and would never be considered a compelling argument to anyone with a functioning brain.

How did the Crusades contribute to the common man's desire for more wealth and more government control?

Answers

Answer:

The entire structure of European society changed during the 12th and 13th centuries, and there was a time when this change was attributed largely to the Crusades. Historians now, however, tend to view the Crusades as only one, albeit significant, factor in Europe’s development. It is likely that the disappearance of old families and the appearance of new ones can be traced in part to the Crusades, but generalizations must be made with caution. It should, moreover, be remembered that, while some Crusaders sold or mortgaged their property, usually to ecclesiastical foundations, others bequeathed it to relatives. The loss of life was without doubt considerable; many Crusaders, however, did return to their homes.

The sectors acquired by burgeoning Italian cities in the Crusader states enabled them to extend their trade with the Muslim world and led to the establishment of trade depots beyond the Crusade frontiers, some of which lasted long after 1291. The transportation they provided was significant in the development of shipbuilding techniques. Italian banking facilities became indispensable to popes and kings. Catalans and Provençals also profited, and, indirectly, so did all of Europe. Moreover, returning Crusaders brought new tastes and increased the demand for spices, Oriental textiles, and other exotic fare. But such demands can also be attributed to changing lifestyles and commercial growth in Europe itself.

The establishment of the Franciscan and Dominican friars in the East during the 13th century made possible the promotion of missions within the Crusade area and beyond. Papal bulls granted special facilities to missionary friars, and popes sent letters to Asian rulers soliciting permission for the friars to carry on their work. Often the friars accompanied or followed Italian merchants, and, since the Mongols were generally tolerant of religious propaganda, missions were established in Iran, the Asian interior, and even China. But, since Islamic law rigidly prohibited propaganda and punished apostasy with death, conversions from Islam were few. The Dominican William of Tripoli had some success, presumably within the Crusaders’ area; he and his colleague Riccoldo di Monte Croce both wrote perceptive treatises on Islamic faith and law. Other missionaries usually failed, and many suffered martyrdom.

Explanation:

The shadow on the wall on the right side of the cartoon symbolize it represents the death of the American dream during the 1930’s or the death of Lincoln.

What is American Dream ?

The American Dream is the national ethos of the United States; it is a set of ideals that include representative democracy, rights, liberty, and equality. Freedom is interpreted in this way: as the opportunity for one's own prosperity and success, as well as for their children's upward social mobility, achieved through hard work in a capitalist society with few barriers.

Regardless of social status or birth circumstances, James Truslow Adams stated that "life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement" when he invented the phrase "American Dream" in 1931.

Therefore, shadow on the wall symbolizes death of Lincoln or the death of the American dream.

Read the passage from President George W. Bush’s address to a joint session of Congress in 2001.

Our war on terror begins with al-Qaeda, but it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped, and defeated. . . .

. . . We will starve terrorists of funding, turn them one against another, drive them from place to place, until there is no refuge or no rest. And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime.

The overall structures of the accounts by Joshua Wyeth and John Andrews are

similar. Identify the text structure in both texts. Then tell why this overall

structure is necessary to develop each of the accounts. Include details from

each account to support your answer. Write your answer on the lines provided.

Answers

Answer:

The question is incomplete and the full version can be found online.

Both accounts are written using a chronological text structure, meaning that they use to relate the events in the order they happened.

This structure grants credibility to the individual accounts of the two witnesses, as they are describing what they saw as evidence of what happened during the Boston Tea Party protest on December 16, 1773, at Griffin's Wharf in Boston, Massachusetts.

Explanation:

In Joshua Wyeth´s account we can see that the text has a chronological structure because it uses phrases such as "We first talked to," "We finally concluded," and "At the appointed time, we met" to order the sequence of events.

In John Andrews´account, he uses the same kind of time phrases: "They then proceeded," and "Before nine o´clock"
