Please write an essay of five paragraphs about thoughts on the topic of “It is easier to build strong [Black] children than to repair broken [Black] men." Frederick Douglass. State what the quote means and write thoughts on it. It must be like a college leveled essay.

Answers

Answer 1

The essay prompt is argumentative in nature. Hence it is an argumentative essay. This is so especially because it takes a side with an idea - the formation of Black Children rather than the repair of Broken Men. The essay is given below.

It is easier to build strong [Black] Children than to repair broken [Black] Men.

The above statement "simply" means that the prevention of broken black men which results in a lot of societal ills is better than curing or trying to cure them. By the time black men have become men and broken, they probably have spent a lot of jail time, are poor, have no stable relationships, and may or may not have any skills that can be monetized.

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 52 percent of the homicides recorded in the data between 1980 and 2008 were committed by black offenders. Over the period 2011 to 2013, about 38.5 percent of the people arrested for various crimes some of which included robbery, and murder were black. In UCR data, the records show that 81 percent of arrests for violent crimes were males. Hence the above premise is justified.

If it is true that criminal male adults are inadvertently created due to a lack of opportunities, poverty, and basic life needs which, besides education, food, shelter, and clothing also include a balanced home, then there is an urgent need to reconsider how Black Children are being raised.

Even if the other factors indicated above are note met, with the exception of one, black children can still be raised to become successful adults. The factor here is a sound family structure. The growth in violent crime over the last fifty years has paralleled the rise in families abandoned by dads. Large-crime areas are characterized by a high number of fatherless households. According to state-by-state research conducted by Heritage Foundation experts, a 10% rise in the number of children living in single-parent households results in a 17% increase in juvenile criminality.

Suffice it to say, that to prevent damaged black adults, and reduce the crime rate among black adults and youth, the black community must take family structure as very important. A great family structure is one where discipline, love, unity, honesty, integrity, and other great values are exemplified by both father and mother. With this in place, we will have fewer and fewer broken black men to repair.

Tom farm by using technology and chemicals (Option A)Anne farms the way she does because "It helps the environment" (Option D)Tom and Anne both "provide necessary food." (Option A)What is the summary of Different Ways" by Christine Fournier?

Christine Fournier describes the farming practices of two farmers. Tom and Anne, two farmers in central Illinois, live only a few miles apart down a small blacktop road. Every year, they plant seeds in the same fertile soil and endure the same hot, humid summers. These neighbors could have had a lot in common fifty years ago. Tom and Anne now have opposing views on what to cultivate and how to grow it.

Tom depends heavily on technology, such as tractors and sprayers that are all linked to a computer and a GPS system, to operate the 700 acres of maize and soybeans. He also depends heavily on genetically engineered saws to keep weeds and pests at bay.

Anne, on the other hand, is in charge of a 15-acre farm. Her approaches are somewhat different. Instead of fertilizers, she uses compost. She also uses a tractor, but just for plowing. In order to save fuel, she plants by hand.

While Tom's clients are industrial users, Anne's customers are people who consume the food directly. The essay concludes with the idea that both farmers are meeting people's basic needs in some way.

What does “nothing personal” mean in context of the story?

With the phrase, ‘nothing personal’ the truck driver ridicules Mr. Thomas's destructed house and has shown no pity for his situation. He stands for a new social order unconcerned with the past, class distinctions, or any other remnants of pre-war society.

Mr. Thomas in this instance, like many others in this civilization wrecked by conflict, has grown indifferent to destruction to the point that all he can do is laugh in its face.

The truck driver, who is working-class like the youngsters who vandalized Mr. Thomas's property, exhibits an inverted snobbishness in his callous contempt for other people's property.

Politically speaking, one can interpret the truck driver's crude words as a sign of a more communal mindset in British culture. In this era of the common man, a radical socialist government is fundamentally altering the pre-war British society's hierarchical structure.
